Translation Guide of Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Introduction<\/a><\/h2>\n\n\n\n

In 2010 a budget game called Deadly Premonition<\/em> was released for the Xbox 360 in America. Since its release it has been considered one of the great cult games of the previous console generation and maybe of all time, mainly because of its connection to one of the great cult television shows of all time, Twin Peaks<\/em>. But, until 2013 when The Director’s Cut<\/em> was released, the only way to play this game on the PlayStation 3 in America was to import the Japanese version called Red Seeds Profile<\/em>. Even though 98% of all of the text is in Japanese one can still play it without too much trouble.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

However, there are some things that may cause some problems. The main one are two specific Side-Quests. In the game there are fifty Side-Quests that you can do for additional items and Trophies. Two of them, [Medical Studies] and [Greenvale Trivia], are quiz based and all of the text are in Japanese. Although you can guess your way through it will take multiple attempts to identify enough of the possible answers to successfully complete these Side-Quests. This guide is meant to make that task much easier. This guide also goes over the [Radio] List to make it easier to know where you’re going.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It should be noted that in the Japanese text there is a Y-shaped character that is used that is also not currently supported in Unicode. That character is represented with a \u24ce.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The [Radio] and [Radio List]<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

One of the most, if not the most, important item to get in the game is the [Radio]. It often takes a long time to travel from one side of Greenvale to the other by car. The [Radio] will allow you to instantly warp from place to place when used and can be acquired early in the game. The [Radio] is earned by doing the Side-Quests [Lost Arnold] and [Nameless Flower]. For the first one you need to give George his missing dumbbell and for the second you need to give him the [Flower With No Name], an item that you can only obtain when it rains. When you have the [Radio] then you will then quickly be transported to wherever you selected when you use it. The car that you are currently using will also go with you. If you wish to use a different car then enter and exit it before using the [Radio].<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You will need to visit a place first before it will appear on the [Radio] List. You can either go inside when it is open or look through a window when it is closed to put the place on the List. In addition, you don’t need to have the [Radio] in order to add places to the List. You can build the List prior to acquiring it and all the places you have visited will show up when you get the [Radio] and use it. The more places you visit in your initial run-through of a chapter, especially early on in the game, the more places you can warp to and improve travel. Although you can add places during a Chapter Replay they are not saved so this is why you need to add them the first time you go through a Chapter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There are a total of twenty four places that can be added to the [Radio] List. Nineteen of them can be added as early as Chapter 2 and the remaining five can be added at certain points during the game. [Medical Studies] Side-Quest<\/a><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

In Chapter 4 you open up this Side-Quest that takes place within [Greenvale General Hospital]. You talk to the Nurse named Fiona who sits behind the front desk. She will ask you medical related questions and you need to correctly answer three in a row to pass. There are a total of sixteen questions that can be randomly selected. The question is only shown on the screen for a few seconds but you have no time limit to answer it. Thus you can take your time and scan the answers to find the one you need to answer the question.
