Luigi’s Mansion – Complete Walkthrough (Step by Step Guide)
April 6, 2024Starting at the mansion, examine the main entrance with double doors and head towards the lower level to locate a key. Return to the entrance, which has double doors and enter the space, and, after the introduction, go to the laboratory to find Professor E. Gadd. He will give you the Poltergust 3000, which is a ghost vacuum device. Practice using the equipment well until you feel confident, then return to the mansion.
Sector 1
Entrance Hall
Investigate the environment, moving all the objects you can. Go up the stairs and access the Living Room.
Living Room
Extinguish the candle flames and defeat the specters that appear. Open the chest and get the key to the Waiting Room.
Waiting Room
Upon entering, the doors will close. Absorb the specters with the vacuum cleaner to reopen them and go through the door on the left.
Wardrobe Room
Be careful with the banana peels left behind by the green wraiths. Absorb the last specter in the closet on the left and then the key that appears in the closet. Now, return to the Entrance Hall and use the key to open the Wardrobe Room on the left, going through the first door.
Office
To capture Neville, the specter in the armchair, turn your back to him and wait until his heart becomes visible. Eliminate him, get the key from the chest, leave the office and head to the last door in the hallway.
Master Bedroom
While Lydia combs her hair in front of the mirror, use the vacuum cleaner to open the curtain. Capture the specter when she tries to close the curtain and collect the key from the chest.
Baby’s Room
Access the door shown in the animation and vacuum the rocking horse. Chauncey will come out of the crib and attack you. Absorb the plastic ball and throw it at the baby.
BOSS – Chauncey
Chauncey will send horses your way. Dodge to the sides to avoid the attack. On the second attack, absorb the remaining ball and throw it at Chauncey. Then absorb the specter until you defeat it. Repeat the process as many times as necessary. When you return to the Baby’s Room, open the large chest and get the key.
Sector 2
Entrance Hall
Approach the double doors on the lower floor and use the key. Enter, go right and then through the central corridor. At the end, turn left and enter the Bathroom.
Bathroom (1st floor)
Defeat the two ghosts to get the key on the holder. Return to the central hallway, opening the door on the right.
Party Hall
Remove the ghosts’ masks with the vacuum cleaner and capture them. The Floating Whirlindas duo will appear. Climb onto one of the rotating platforms, always facing away from the pair, and wait until they greet each other. Absorb them with the vacuum cleaner, take the key and open the other door in the room.
Deposit
Be careful with the purple and red ghosts. After eliminating them, check the mirror. There is a button on the opposite wall. Press it to discover a secret location. Vacuum the poster on the wall, find another button and press it to find the ghost boos. Professor E. Gadd will call you to the laboratory.
Entrance Hall
Return to the mansion and search the rooms with the lights on until you capture five boos. Then go to the Lavabo.
Toilet (1st floor)
Move the toilet to find another key. Exit, go down the central corridor and go right.
Seer’s Room
Open the first door and enter. There’s still not much to do here… So go into the room on the right.
Mirror Room
When you enter the room, the door will close. Here, ghosts can only be seen by their reflection in the mirror. Capture them all and open the chest to find the fire element medal. Vacuum the fire elemental from the bonfire in the corner of the room, light the two chandeliers and leave the room.
Seer’s Room
Light the four chandeliers and vacuum the key that will appear on the pillar.
Laundry Room
Exit the Seer’s Room and go left until the end. Enter the Laundry Room, absorb the four specters and get all the money from the chest. Check the washing machine to find Mario’s hat. Leave the laundry room and go back through the central hallway, heading left. Light the flying chandelier and the ghost Shivers will appear. Follow him to the Butler Room.
Butler’s Room
Wait for Shivers to sit down and capture him. Get the key from the chest, but don’t leave the place. Use first person view and look to the right side of the room. There is a small mouse hole in the wall. Use the Game Boy Horror, aim at the hole and analyze (button A). Walk into the smoke to enter a secret room.
Hidden Room
The ghosts here are made of ice. Search the chests to find them and attack them with fire. Take all the money you can and leave through the mouse hole.
Conservatory
Open the door to the Conservatory, move all the instruments and approach the piano. Melody Pianissima will play a song. Choose one of the three options and answer. If you make a mistake, leave the room, enter again and repeat the entire procedure. The scheme for capturing Pianissima is easy. Vacuum up the flying scores and then the enemy. After collecting the key from the chest, exit and go to the central corridor, opening the door on the left.
Dining Room
You will meet the glutton, Mr. Juggs. Light the candles and get ready. Vacuum the enemy’s food without letting the other ghosts serve you even more. Run to avoid getting hit by the fireballs and, when he gets tired, suck him up. Open the chest and collect the money.
Kitchen
Enter through the door on the left, open the refrigerator using the vacuum cleaner and capture the ice ghost. Find the water element medal in the chest to use water on the Poltergust 3000 and put out the fire in the burning door, opening it.
Patio dos Ossos
Spooky, the peaceful little dog in the garden, is your main target. Shoot him and then run away. Stay away until Mr. Bones appears. Now, attack Mr. Bones and he will leave a big bone for Spooky. Cemetery

BOSS – Bogmire
Patience is the key to facing Bogmire. Vacuum up one of the black replicas and hold it until the real enemy appears. Throw the replica at the enemy and then suck it up. Back in the Cemetery, take the key from the chest and talk to Professor E. Gadd.
Sector 3
Hall
Go through the lower double doors and follow the central corridor, turning left and opening the door at the end.
Courtyard
Light up the Courtyard by capturing the ghosts hanging in the trees. Check the birdhouse and get Mario’s letter. Collect the money that comes out of the chest and go down the well.
Bottom of the Well
Go to the end of the tunnel to watch an animation. Return and capture the ghost that appears to get a new key. Go up and continue right, using the key to enter the door.
Gym Room
While Biff Atlas is lifting weights, punch him into one of the sandbags. Hit him twice more and defeat him. Before leaving, run on the conveyor belt to the left of the room, getting another key. Exit the Gym Room through the other door and open the door on the left. The location will serve as a shortcut in the future. Go up the stairs and put out the fire in the door to enter.
Tea Room
Ghosts are a problem here. Capture them and walk over the symbol in the right corner of the room. You will walk across the ceiling. Use the other symbol to land on the table. Open the chest and get the ice element medal. Look for ice elementals in refrigerators and other cold objects. When you leave, go through the door on the left.
Astral Hall
Go down the corridor, enter the door on the right, light the pedestals and eliminate the ghosts. Enter the door on the right.
Observatory
Examine the telescope to watch an animation. Half of the room will disappear. Hoover up a shooting star and hit it on the Moon. Walk across the golden platform and collect Mario’s star. Return to the hallway.
Bathroom (2nd floor)
Go left until the end and enter the first door. There’s nothing here but an insignificant ghost.
Nana’s Room
Enter the door on the right next to the Bathroom. Drop the balls of yarn, hold them with the vacuum cleaner and hit Nana three times. Capture the ghost and get the key from the chest. Exit and enter the Bathroom.
Bathroom (2nd floor)
Open the curtain and dodge Miss Petunia’s attack. Then freeze the lady to eliminate her. Take the key and return to the Vestibule. Use the door next to the Gym Room as a shortcut. In the Vestibule, go up the stairs and enter the door on the left.
Twins’ Room
Enter and use the vacuum cleaner to rotate the helicopter mobile. The twins will appear. Accept the invitation to play hide and seek and leave the room. Go inside, use the vacuum cleaner on the boxes to find the two children. Discovering the two little ghosts, they will attack. Vacuum each other’s vehicles and capture them. Get Mario’s shoe from the chest.
Billiards Room
Return to the Foyer, go down the stairs, go through the lower double doors and open the door in front of the Conservatory. Wait for Slim Bankshot to hit the shot, suck up one of the three balls and hit him. Repeat the procedure two more times and capture it. Take the money from the chest and head to the door on the right.
Projection Room
Turn on the projector and stand close to the screen. Capture all the ghosts, take Mario’s glove and go to the Fortune Teller’s Room.
Fortune Teller’s Room
Light the crystal ball until Madame Clairvoya appears. To capture her, you will need to hand over Mario’s five belongings. Talk to her and then suck her off. Take the key and go up to the 3rd floor.
Hunting Room
Shake the animal heads on the wall to make enemies appear. Most of the ghosts are water, so use ice elementals to attack. Grab the key and make sure you capture at least 20 boos to proceed.
Balcony
Open the door to the Balcony and approach the group of boos.
BOSS – Boolossus
The group of ghosts transforms into a single, gigantic enemy. Keep the vacuum running until you have control over Boolossus. Take it to one of the ice statues and pop it. The enemy will split into 15 boos. Breathe in some elemental ice and freeze the ghosts before they regroup. Continue with the procedure until you capture everyone. Open the chest and get the new key.
Sector 4
Hall
Go to the Balcony and approach the door.
Balcony
Lightning will strike the mansion, causing a blackout. Quickly head to the Wardrobe Room.
Wardrobe Room
Uncle Grimmly is a recluse who loves the dark. He turns his back to the old man and surprises him when he moves. He takes the key and goes to the Breaker Room.
Circuit Breaker Room
Turn on the on-site generator to restore power to the mansion. Take the key, exit and enter the door ahead.
Cellar
Clean the floor by sucking up the piles of dust, check the barrels for ghosts and suck them up. Get the key inside the chest and go up to the Balcony. Through the door on the left, go down the hallway and enter the last door on the right.
Telephone Room
Open the chests to find ghosts. Eliminate everyone and take the money, going through the door at the back.
Clock Room
Swing the clocks and capture the Clock Soldiers – suck them in from behind to remove the winding mechanism and capture them. Enter the toy house and climb to the roof of the mansion.
Roof
Suck up the masked ghosts and get a fire elemental. Eliminate the ice ghost and climb the left chimney to find a chest. Take the key, go down, exit the Telephone Room and open the door ahead.
Armory
Open the chests and check the armor to find ghosts. Finish them all, get the treasures and go through the door at the end.
Pottery Studio
First, equip yourself with an ice elemental. Examine the vases to find Jarvis, accept the joke proposed by the specter and freeze him 7 times to win. As a reward, you will receive another chest with money.
Roof
Return to the roof, climb to the top of the chimney on the right and drop down through the hole.
Sealed Room
The Sealed Room is full of money… And monsters. Get the money, suck up the ghosts and collect the key. Go out, activate the Game Boy Horror and analyze (button A) the mirror. You will be teleported to the Hall.
Hall
Go to the 2nd floor and open the door to the Living Room.
Living Room
Take a fire elemental and light the candles. Kill the ghosts and get a water elemental to eliminate the new wave of enemies. Go through the door on the right.
Guest Bedroom
Wet Sue Pea’s bed 3 times to wake her up and then suck her. Take the money and leave.
Pipe Room
Go down to the Cellar and exit through the left door. In the hallway, enter the second door. Eliminate the ghosts, get an elemental ice and freeze the sewer. Go through the place, turn the valve and get the key from the chest. Exit and enter the next room.
Cold Warehouse
Obtain a fire elemental and activate both bonfires. Imprison Sir Weston by melting all the ice. Purchase the key and use it at the Painter’s Studio, located on the third floor.
Artist’s Studio
After the dialogue, artist Vincent Van Gore will bring the paintings to life. Defeat the different specters and imprison Van Gore. He opens the treasure and obtains the ultimate key. Go down to the Basement, go down the corridor and use the key on the door at the end.
Secret Altar
Enter the door ahead and face King Boo. Make sure your energy is fully charged before approaching your opponent.
BOSS – King Boo / Bowser
The final confrontation takes place on the roof of the mansion. Keep your distance from Bowser until he throws three spiked bombs. Absorb one of the bombs and move away. Release the bomb when the opponent opens their mouth. Be careful: if Bowser jumps before moving towards you, drop the bomb immediately and run away. When you hit him in the mouth, King Boo will appear. Employ the technique to capture Boos and absorb him, persisting with this tactic until the battle’s conclusion.
