God of War Ragnarök is a direct sequel to GoW (2018), developed by Santa Monica Studio and published by Sony (Playstation). Kratos and Atreus go on a journey in search of surviving the harsh Fimbulwinter winter, where the entire plot develops and many twists and turns occur.

God of War Ragnarök’s platinum is very calm, pleasant and very similar to its predecessor. The golden tip to platinum the game without difficulty is: explore as much as possible and do the secondary missions that appear , because, by doing this, you should gain useful items to improve weapons, armor and obtain experience to unlock new skills, so this way the game will be easier. Exploration is very intuitive and fun. The game is huge and has lots of things to do. It’s not necessary to complete the game 100%, but it’s worth doing, as it’s easy. It’s just a little time consuming.

The guide was divided into 4 stages, strategically made according to the progression of the campaign, being: 1st stage: Complete the campaign, 2nd stage: Secondary missions and collectibles, 3rd stage: Crucible Challenges and 4th stage: Secret Bosses.

Note: this guide contains some spoilers in the 1st stage.

Combat Tips:

• Do not attack while the enemy is attacking.
• Do not order your companion to shoot arrows while he is attacking melee.
• Know how to manage runic attacks.
• Use short runic attacks.
• Use runic attacks when it is an unblockable attack.
• Do not use rage mode while the enemy is in “armor”.
• Use the enchantments that best suit your play style.

The game was played on the Playstation 4 Fat; and all screenshots were captured during gameplay.

1st STAGE: Complete the campaign.

At this stage you will simply complete the game and explore to the fullest, without worrying about the trophies. During this stage, pay attention if any character says something related to exploration, as exploring at this point will make it easier and anticipate some trophies. Exploration and side missions are this game’s strong points.

2nd STAGE: favors, works and collectibles

After finishing the campaign and enjoying the story, you should already have most of the trophies. This stage consists of doing favors, jobs, facing the Berserks and obtaining collectibles (books, artifacts, flowers and Odin’s ravens). It’s not necessary to do 100% of everything, but it’s a good idea to do it to become very strong and not have any problems, as well as being fun.

It is important that you defeat the Berserk at this stage, or leave it for last if you are having difficulties.

Before starting this stage, I strongly recommend that you defeat the 4 troll statues, but there are three different locations, facing them is optional and there is no trophy related to it. The trolls provide a set of armor called “Steinbjörn” with a focus on defense, this set will make your journey much easier. But before going after them it is necessary to equip the “Mystical Inheritance” relic, when obtaining this item, just go to the troll’s location and press L1 + O near it, the location of this amulet and the trolls will be in the images below. After defeating 2 of them you can now make your set in the store and the third troll will provide an amulet. During this process, you can do Berserk favors, jobs and tombstones that you find along the way.

After you have obtained the set of armor and leveled them up, go after the objectives you are missing. Luckily, favors and jobs are represented on the map with an icon, except for collectibles, and there is also a list of things that need to be done/collected in the right corner of the map, including from each region of the kingdom!

It is extremely important to close Hell’s Rifts, Lindwyrm’s Rifts and Drauger’s Lairs to improve the Leviathan Axe, the Blades of Chaos and the Draupnir Spear, respectively, all of these favors are marked on the map.

With the map open, hover the cursor over the regions to find out what is missing and press the down arrow to find out what remains to be done/collected in that kingdom, as a whole. Once you know what is missing, find it yourself or search on YouTube, enter: “Gow Ragnarok + region of the missing kingdom”. See the example in the images below.

Fixing Bugs – Free Lyngbakr

During the search for Týr in Svartalfheim. Lyngbakr is a giant creature, similar to a whale, it is seen in the “Bay of Plenty” region and later has its own region “Lyngbakr Island”. Mimir will tell her story and our goal is to free her, this favor is called “The Weight of Chains”.

It Was a Good Day – Get Mardöll Back

After the mission “The Reckoning”, this favor will become available. Mardöll was a sword of Freya located in the “Altar Vanir Waterfall of the Goddess” in Vanaheim, at first this region will be foggy on the map. This favor will be marked on the map and is called “The Peace That Freya Misses”, after doing this favor, make the trophy below.

Note: the passage to the “Rio Delta” only opens during the day.

New Friendships – Get the Lúnda Orb

When in Vanaheim, we are introduced to a new character, Lúnda is a born blacksmith who asks for a favor when talking to her in the store, just look for and return the orb. The orb is found in “The Veiled Passage” in Vanaheim. This favor will be marked on the map and is called “The Mysterious Orb”.

Whole Hafgufa – Free the Hafgufas

Favor available after completing the “Secret of the Sands” favor in the “The Bottom” region in Alfheim. Hafgufas are giant jellyfish-like creatures. You must have already freed one with the help of Atreus, you need to free both, the last one is located in the image below. This favor is called “Song of the Sands”

Rebel Leader – Return the Rebellion Hammer

When you are a little advanced in the story, Durlin will ask for a favor in Svartalfheim. This favor will be marked on the map and is called “Spirit of Rebellion”.

Invasive Species – Do all crater hunts

Doing all the hunts consists of doing all the favors in the “Crater”, basically eliminating all the creatures. After that, the “Dragon Scales” armor set will be available to craft in the store, to win the trophy below.

Tip: location of the dragon that you should attract with bait.

Dragon Slayer – Craft the Dragon Scale Armor Set

This set only becomes available after eliminating the five dragons in the Crater in Vanaheim, after that go to the store to make the chest, wrist and waist armor.

Pure Heart – Return the Deer of the Four Seasons

You will see the deer in the Vanaheim crater, but to activate the mission you need to talk to Ratatoskr in Sindri’s House, then go to Vanaheim. There are four deer spread throughout the Crater and their locations are represented in the images below. This favor is not marked on the map and is called “A Deer for All Seasons”.

Best Friends – Pet Speki and Svanna

Speki and Svanna are the wolves who drive the sled we use on Midgard. To pet them, you need to eliminate the “Kol Invader Camps” that will be marked on the map in Midgard, then just interact with Speki and Svanna on the sled. This favor is called “Animal Instincts”.

Full Belly – Obtain all Apples of Iðunn and Flasks of Bloody Mead

The Apples of Iðunn and Flasks of Bloody Mead are items found in Nonir chests throughout the Nine Realms. Their locations are not marked on the map, you need to find them, but if you have explored the map to the fullest and completed all the secondary missions you should already have them.

Phalanx – Obtain all shields

There are 6 shields in total. Before or after beating the game, go to the store and craft the missing ones.

Ready to Pledge – Fully upgrade an armor set

Fully upgrading a set of armor means upgrading them to level 9. It must be a set of the same armor, that is, it cannot be a different set. I recommend doing this with the troll set, “Steinbjörn”, which is described at the beginning of this step.

To improve armor to the maximum you will need items such as “Burning Ember”, obtained in the Crucible Challenges and “Sparkling Crystal” acquired in the “Wishing Well” (located in the same area as the Spring Deer, in the Plains in Vanaheim), simply reach the edge of the well and throw the “Crystalline Fragment” material obtained by destroying the yellow stones scattered throughout the kingdom.

Once you reach the armor’s maximum level, it is possible to change its appearance, but the properties of the armor will be the same.

The Story Now – Fully repair the Amulet of Yggdrasil

To repair the amulets you need an item called “Amulet Fragment”, which makes it possible to free up space on the amulet when crafting it in the store. This item is obtained from chests spread across the kingdoms.

Rightful Place – Return all Lindwyrms to Ratatoskr

The Lindwyrms are creatures that are located in the “Clefts of Yggdrasil” marked on the map, there are 6 in total. Once this is done, you can improve Draupnir’s Spear. This favor is called “The Lost Lindwyrms”.

The Librarian – Get all books

The Curator – Obtain all artifacts

Artifacts, books, knowledge and Odin’s ravens are not marked on the map. You will have to find them yourself or search on YouTube, enter: Gow Ragnarok + region of the missing kingdom.

The Florist – Obtain a flower from each of the Nine Realms

The flowers have an icon on the map, but some flowers are in locations that can only be accessed after beating the game and talking to Ratatoskr at Casa do Sindri. When speaking to the charismatic squirrel, he will give you some seeds to travel in blocked locations, such as Jötunheim, Midgard region “Sanctuary Grove” and Nifheim region “Misty Fields”. This favor is called “Flowers of the Nine Realms”.

You can try to face King Berserk if you feel prepared.

Tip: if you don’t know which set of weapons and armor to use, you can take mine as a reference, I didn’t have any difficulty against the secret bosses and challenges of the Crucible.

3rd STAGE: Crucible Challenges.

Trial by Fire – Complete the Trials of Muspelheim

The Crucible Challenges are found in Muspelheim in the “The Crucible” region, they are challenges that consist of defeating a series of enemies in exchange for rewards.

If you’ve already done all the steps above, you should be strong enough to do the challenges without having difficulty. This favor is called “The Final Challenges”.

To make a challenge in the center, you must make two challenges corresponding to those written in the circles on the arena floor. A new challenge will be available every time you make two combinations, you need to do this with all the combinations that are on the arena floor, you can see the progression of the Crucible challenges on the map.

4TH STAGE: Secret bosses.

If you’ve done everything, you’ve probably defeated the Berserk Tombstones, and perhaps defeated the Berserk King.

Serious Error – Face King Hrólf

He is only accessible after defeating the 13 Berserks, the Berserk King, King Hrólf, will appear on the map in Midgard in the “King’s Tomb” region. He has a berserk attack like all the others, he is a relatively difficult boss, but the combat tips I mentioned at the beginning of the guide should help. This favor is called “Worthy of a King”.

The Collector – Obtain all relics and sword hilts

Most are earned by opening chests, three are crafted in the shop and one is obtained after defeating the Berserk King, King Hrólf.

The True Queen – Face Gná

The Queen of the Valkyries, Gná, is a secret boss located in Muspelheim and will be marked on the map after beating the game. The fight against her is difficult too, that’s why I left this trophy for last. See combat tips to help. This favor is called “Defend Your Bravery”.

The Bear and the Wolf – Obtain all trophies.
