GO TO PART 03 >>

Fungal Wastes

As soon as you arrive, try to go down to the top floor and enter the room on your left. There, you will activate the Stables Station, a crucial point in your journey. If you have some time, take a trip to Dirtmouth. Near the map store, you will find Zote, and if you explore a little to the left of the well, you will come across Tiso, a new NPC for our collection of acquaintances.

Leaving Rainha Station, go to the top right corner. Here you will encounter a brand new enemy, the Fungoon. It’s not the most complicated; basically, it floats and releases gas in a straight direction. Jump to another platform and go down to the place indicated by the sign.

Soon, you will hear the familiar sound of Cornifer, our cartographer friend, whistling. Go down to the bottom to find it in a narrow path on the left. For now, let’s go back to the previous screen, because the right part is for later.

Continuing, drop down to the platform below the Fungoon and head right. You’ll bump into another enemy, the Fungified Husk. They are easy to deal with, but explode when defeated, just like Volatile Mosskin. Continue right, but keep an eye out for the Spores on this screen; They release explosive spores that follow you and detonate nearby, taking away 2 Health Masks – dealing with two of these at the same time is a pain, even more so when there are three on the same screen.

Your goal is to go up. You’ll notice an NPC lying on the ground to the right, but it’s blocked for now. Keep going up and you will reach the upper level. There’s an exit to the right and a Geo rock above it. Use the exit and get ready for the next challenge.

On the next screen, there will be a new challenge, the Shrumal Warrior. These guys can be a little tricky until you get the hang of their attacks. They can jump and smash the ground towards you or roll towards you, leaving a trail of poisonous gas. The tip is to hit them to propel yourself and avoid the gas trail.

You will find four of these on the way. Your mission is to climb to the upper level and exit to the left. There, you will find a lever that opens a gate. Before facing the mini-boss that comes next, make sure you have full health and your Soul meter as well.

Before facing your boss, it’s crucial to be prepared. Adjust your inventory, check your Charms and make sure your strategy is sharp. Remember, patience and observation are your best weapons here.

Facing the Boss: Shrumal Ogre

Right off the bat, you’ll have to deal with two Shrumal Ogres. They are not that complicated to beat, but they require attention. Usually, one of them will jump to the other side and leave a puddle on the ground that lasts for a few seconds. If you touch it, you will get hurt. Take the opportunity to hit them several times when you get the chance. When they start banging their heads on the ground repeatedly, that’s your signal to run to the other side and attack the second one. With persistence, they will fall. Defeating them gives you a Charm Notch. Exit this screen to the right.

Choosing the Path

You will come across a fork, and you can either go right or go up. We are interested in going to the right, but it is worth mentioning that on the way up there is a Bank and an NPC seller, the Leg Eater. He will ask 86 Geo to show you “something cool”. If you accept, he opens the store and sells 3 Charms that break upon death. I would only buy it if Geo wasn’t a problem for you. Regardless of your choice, go right at the fork.

Exploring and Advancing

On this screen, you will find two Shrumal Warriors. After dealing with them, continue to the right. As soon as you enter, you will see a Fungoon. Take the path below it and watch out for the Sporgs. Once you reach the bottom, you can go right or left. The right is a dead end with only one item to inspect. Go left. As you progress, the ground will shake and the NPC Cloth will appear. You will find Cloth in various parts of the game. On the next screen, there is a Geo rock and glowing mushrooms. To reach Geo’s rock, jump and hit the mushrooms to bounce. Use the momentum from the first to hit the second and use Dash to the right to mine the Geo.

Below, you’ll find a large room with lots of mushrooms to bounce on. The exit you are looking for is in the bottom left corner. Kill the 2 Ambloon to get the Geo. Ignore the Sporgs and exit to the left in the middle of the screen. Climb up and go right, killing the Funglings along the way. At the top, you’ll see a hallway with bouncing mushrooms and Funglings. Use a short jump and Vengeful Spirit to finish them all off at once. Rescue Grub at the end of the hallway.

Getting Mantis Claw

After killing the Funglings and mining the Geo, there is a dark empty space to the right of the rocks. Go down there and continue left after the drop. Open the shortcut with the lever and go all the way to the right, past Grub’s room, until you reach the large screen with the Sporgs. Exit below, to the right. Use the mushrooms to reach the upper level, where you will face the Mantis Warriors. Learn to dodge their attacks and keep moving forward until you find the Mantis Claw. With it, you can climb walls and reach new areas.

Finishing the Phase

Once you get the Mantis Claw, use it to reach the Geo and solve a small puzzle using all your skills. Go right, go up the hallway and get the Traveler’s Diary. Return to the large area and exit to the right. Look for a secret room with a Soul totem running up the walls. Use the levers to make your path easier and if you’re losing a lot of health, go back to using the Soul totems or defeat enemies to recover health. Insert the City Crest into the knight statue and move forward. Once locked in, climb the walls to find more Geo and continue your journey.

City of Tears

Once you arrive, you’ll encounter some new enemies, like the Husk Sentry and the Belfly. The Husk Sentry attacks with a single sword strike and sometimes a combination of two attacks. As for the Belfly, well, it basically flies towards you and blows itself up, kamikaze style. Use the Dash ability a lot to attack the Husk Sentry from above when possible and, as for the Belfly, it’s best to avoid it and let it eliminate itself.

Go all the way to the right until you can start going down. Continue down the next screen and use the elevator. He’ll go down, ignoring a path to the right that contains an item to inspect, but nothing else. The elevator has spikes on the ceiling, so go down into it. Use the Bench to the right of the elevator and talk to Quirrel.

Afterwards, follow the path down and kill the Husk Sentry on the next screen. Below him is a chest with Geo. Use the elevator again and take the left path. On this screen, go all the way to the left and go up to the right to find the Blacksmith of the Nails. Talk to him, and he will offer to improve your Nail for 250 Geo. Without thinking twice, do it.

Go back to the elevator and use it, but don’t go to the top. Jump onto the platform on the right and kill your first Winged Sentry. Continue jumping from platform to platform, climbing up to find the Seal of Hallownest.

Now go right and exit the screen through the top right exit. You will immediately encounter a Heavy Sentry. The space is tight, so you might think about jumping over him, but he can jump and attack, so wait for his attack first until you get the hang of it. Use the elevator on your right, go up to find a Rancid Egg and a chest with Geo.

When you’re ready, follow the path down. On the dark side to the right, you will find Relic Seeker Lemm. You can sell the Traveler’s Diary and the Hallownest Seal for Geo. On the left side of this screen there is a lever, use it and get the Geo from the chest.

Go back to where you found the Rancid Egg, take the elevator and take the first left and then go all the way up. Go up, do a right, kill the Winged Sentry, use the lever and fall to the next screen. Also use the lever here, go right, jump on the platforms and exit the screen through the upper exit.

At the first elevator stopping point, you will find a Winged Sentry and a Grub. If you enter the room on the left, the doors will close, a Heavy Sentry will appear, and when you defeat it, a Winged and Husk Sentry will also appear. After the fight, the doors will open again.

Keep climbing and you will start to hear the familiar whistle of the Cornifer. If you pay 150 Geo at the machine to the left of the Cornifer, a Bank will appear there. Exit this screen to the left. You will find the Zote a little to the left, keep going to the next screen.

Unlocking Paths and Finding Keys

In this open area, there are several “hidden” rooms to the right. The top right room contains a Simple Key. Use the lever in the lower left corner to open a shortcut to the entrance to the City of Tears. After that, you can exit this screen from the top left corner.

Go left, pick up the Traveler’s Diary on the floor, and go back right to go over the spiked ceiling to the exit on the right. Use the Bank and unlock the Stables Station.

Finishing

Leave this screen and go all the way to the left. You will see a machine, pay 150 Geo to call the elevator and use it.

Forgotten Crossroads

Now let’s get back to exploring the Forgotten Crossroads. I’ll show you a very interesting path that takes advantage of newly acquired skills. And look, there are a lot of optional things along the way, but it’s worth exploring. If you’re eager to head straight to Pico de Cristal (Crystal Peaks), feel free, but there are some treasures here that you can’t ignore.

Getting the Vessel Fragment

First, go all the way to the left, passing through the hallways until you find a Vessel Fragment. This item is very important for increasing our Soul capacity.

Getting to know Salubra

Now that we have the Dash ability, an area that was previously inaccessible will open up. In the bottom right corner of the map, you will find a Bank. Nearby, there is a little cabin where Salubra lives. She sells Charms and Notches which are super useful. To purchase additional Charms, you need to have a certain number of Charms: 10 for the second, 18 for the third, and 25 for the fourth. I suggest checking out the Long Nail and Steady Body Charms. Oh, and try to collect at least 1800 Geo, it will be useful later on.

Searching for the Mask Fragment

Starting from the left entrance to this area, walk a little to the right and you will find a wall that gives access to a series of small corridors. At the end of them, there is a Mask Fragment waiting for you. Break the scaffolding to get out of this part.

Visit to the Grubfather

While we’re here, how about visiting the Grubfather? He gives you some Geo and another Mask Fragment as a reward. But first, there’s a Grub that we can rescue now with our new abilities.

Buying the Lumafly Flashlight

Before heading to Crystal Peak, return to Dirtmouth and purchase the Lumafly Lantern from Sly. This will help you navigate a room that was previously completely dark.

Going to Pico de Cristal

Now, heading to Pico de Cristal. There, you will find a door that needs a Geo payment to open. Go down, take care of the new enemies, the Glimback. They just walk back and forth, but you can only hurt them head on. Mine the two Geo rocks on the left, then go right, mine one more Geo rock and break the scaffolding to move on.

Crystal Peak

First, your objective is to go right, passing some conveyor belts. Look carefully at their direction before jumping, because if you don’t, you could end up falling to your death. After the conveyors, you will reach a mining area full of Husk Miners, the new enemies in the area. Soon after, there is a Bank on a screen coming out on the lower right side. Use the Bench and then go back to the mine screen, but this time go up.

On the way, you will turn left and go up. There is a challenge here that involves climbing the vertical mats without touching the spikes on the walls. You don’t need much strategy, just make sure to use Dash on the horizontal paths near the end of the conveyors. At the end, there is a Grub waiting for you. Open the gate and go up to the next screen.

Now, you need to get through this area without being touched by the lasers emitted by the crystal creatures. Climb up and head to the exit on the right. There’s another Grub here and a relatively easy challenge. The presses crush at different speeds, but other than that, it’s smooth. Rescue Grub, open the gate below and return to the previous screen. Go past the laser room and exit through the upper left exit.

Maps, Keys and Challenges

Get the map from Cornifer and go back through the upper exit this time. Go past the side with 2 lasers and climb all the way up the wall on the right, to the top to get the Shopkeeper’s Key. Use the output below.

The Crystal Guardian

Next stop, a new boss: the Crystal Guardian. He has two attacks: an aerial attack with 3 vertical lasers and a horizontal laser that he fires himself. You can attack him in two ways between attacks: jumping and Dashing behind him to attack from behind, or simply attacking from the front when the sky’s lightning allows. If caught in the air attack, attack it from above to bounce it to the other side. After defeating him, get the Geo, use the Bank. You’ll want to face him again for a Mask Fragment. After defeating him the second time, go left and get the Mask Fragment.

Exploring and Collecting

Return to the previous room, jump to the left side and climb up to exit this screen. Go to the upper left side and talk to Quirrel, then exit to the right. Continue right until you can go down, hug the right wall and use the first path on the right. There’s a Geo crystal protected by laser creatures, and if you go all the way around to the top left, you can get a Traveler’s Diary.

Obtaining the Crystal Heart

Continue going down, activate the lever, go through the new opened path and use the lever below. If you head left from here, you’ll return to the Crystal Guardian’s room. Either way, go back up to the first lever you activated and go down to the right. Once at the bottom, go left and activate the lever. Explore the now free left side, use Alma’s totem if you need to, and when you’re ready, exit through the lower right exit.

There are several trap platforms here. Jump from platform to platform until you see a path above. Use the vertical treadmill to climb. Avoid the laser beams and head right. You will need to cross to the right by jumping on the platforms. At the end, there is a Soul Totem and a path down. Head down and to the right, inspect the element to consume the Crystal Heart. This is the Super Dash ability, which allows you to do a huge Dash horizontally. Try it now, since the bridge is destroyed, and cross to the other side. Do this again on the left side to reach a Geo crystal and rescue the Grub from this screen.

After rescuing Grub, jump onto Geo’s crystal and, before leaving this screen, climb the wall and Super Dash to the right side to rescue Grub. Exit to the left, go through the presses and exit to the left again. Here, go left and go down to where the Husk Miner is. Kill him and hit the fake wall he was mining. Use Super Dash here to reach the wall and slide to the other side. You’ll have to use Super Dash again, but watch out for the lasers. Once at the end, use the exit on the left.

Go down, inspect the element to get the Deep Focus Charm. Go back to the previous room and use the treadmill to get back. Go up immediately and go around everything to exit through the upper left exit. You’ll have to Super Dash a few times here, do it until you reach a path down. Kill the 2 Crystal Hunters and get to the bottom right where there appears to be a Grub, but it’s actually a ‘Mimic Grub’. When you destroy the container, he will go crazy and attack you. Kill him for a Hunter’s Diary entry and return to the previous room. Exit to the left and activate the lever to unlock this path. Now it’s time to head back and head to the Resting Grounds. If you used the Bank, exit the game to the main menu as a shortcut.

Path to Grub

Go down to the conveyor belt part and you will see a room on the left with a Geo Crystal and some Husk Miners. You need to go underneath and up to get to it. Activate the lever and continue going down, but grab the Geo Crystal that is further down in this room before you do. Now, go all the way down, past all the presses to get to the Chest you saw earlier. Go past the presses again and go down to find the last Grub. Go down into this room and follow the image below to the Resting Grounds.

Resting Grounds

Finding the Dreamers

When you get down from Pico de Cristal, go right and enter the next room. Soon you will come across a shrine dedicated to Dreamers: Monomon, the Teacher; Lurien the Watcher; and Herrah the Beast. Take a look at the sanctuary, and then the Dreamers will use what little power they have left to send you to a world between reality and sleep. There, keep going right until a Moth guides you to a platform with another shrine. She will offer you the Dream Nail to escape this dream world.

The Nail of Dreams and the Seer

You will wake up in the Seer’s house and discover that she grants you the Nail of Dreams. She explains to you about an energy that can be collected with her, called “Essence”. Collecting enough Essence grants you rewards from the Seer, such as Charms, collectibles and achievements. Leaving the Seer’s house, go down until you find a Whispering Root. Those strange little trees you’ve seen throughout the game are a source of Essence. Hold the button designated for the Nail of Dreams and attack the Root; This will cause 20 Essences to appear around for you to collect.

Charms and Keys

In the same area, there is a room on the left, opposite the Stables Station, where you can find the Dreamshield Charm. Once you’ve got this, open the Stable Station and head back to Dirtmouth to return the Shopkeeper’s Key to Sly and unlock the rest of his goods. Purchase a Mask Fragment and the Elegant Key. Also stop by Iselda to buy the Resting Grounds map and then travel to the City Storerooms via the Stables Station.

Continuing the Journey

This part of the Rest Lands is crucial, not only because you get the Dream Nail, which opens up a lot of new possibilities, but it also introduces you to the concept of Essence, which will be super important for unlocking more parts of the story and the world from Hollow Knight. And hey, don’t forget to use the Nail of Dreams whenever you find those Whispering Roots or lost spirits; This way, you collect Essence to earn more Seer rewards.

City of Tears

Arriving again in the City of Tears, things get more interesting. Leaving the Stables Station, your first move is to go right, down the balconies. Here, there’s a cool detail to do: use the Dream Nail on a Whispering Root. This will release 28 Essences for you to collect around the area. Just stay tuned because you’ll have to jump a lot, and the roofs of the buildings below, on both sides, are full of thorns and will hurt you if you touch them. And look, there are a bunch of people flying around wanting to bother you, like the Vengefly, the Winged Sentries and the Lance Sentries. My tip? Take care of them before jumping off to collect the Essences.

Once that’s done, go up to the highest balcony and enter the room there to find a Simple Key. With the key in hand, go straight, all the way to the right, until you reach a point where you can go down until you find the Relic Seeker Lemm. Here is a good place to sell any collectibles you have found around town and want to make some extra Geo.

After this visit to Lemm, go down a little further and you will find a pedestal with an empty space perfect for the Simple Key you picked up. Place the key there and voilà, you’ve just unlocked the entrance to the Royal Sewers.

Royal Waterways

Finding the Map

First thing: let’s go left until we find Cornifer and secure a map of the area. You’ll come across Pilflips right away. They walk from side to side and jump up to attack you, but other than that, they are calm. There is a Soul Totem protected by a Belfly in the upper left corner. Go down one level to the left and go through another room. Going down, you notice a floor that seems a little unstable, go left. Go find the Hwurmps; after a blow, they inflate like a balloon, but without much threat. Go down and come across Flukemon, a funny creature that, after a few hits, splits and starts attacking you through the air and on the ground. Go left to the next screen.

Strategic Diving

Fall down without fear (the water doesn’t hurt) and climb the wall on the other side. Go straight until you find a fork; There’s a Rancid Egg up on the right, and a Soul Totem on the left. The only way is down. On the left is Cornifer. Defeat the Hwurmps, open the gate and get the map from Cornifer. Press the lever to open the path to the bottom left, which takes you to an unexplored area of the Fungal Wastes.

Fungal Waste Detour

Here, go all the way down and get the Dashmaster Charm. There is a secret path to the left of Encanto, go there. Eliminate the enemies, climb the wall on the left. Here, you will need to use Dash and Super Dash wisely. Keep your Soul bar full, if necessary. The paths are narrow and full of thorns, so it may take a few tries. At the end, you find Bretta.

Returning to the Royal Sewers

Return to the Royal Sewers. Leave the Cornifer screen to the right, fall into the water on the next screen, go left, get Geo’s chest above, fall into the water and go all the way to the left until you find a Mask Fragment. Exit this screen to the bottom right. You will hear a bomb sound on this screen; There’s a Rancid Egg directly above you. Use the platforms to reveal a dark path. Go straight until you come face to face with a wall. There is a secret room on the right; If you hear a Grub crying, it’s close. Break the wall, save Grub.

Finding Tuk

Follow the map until you find the Tuk, breaking a wall next to a Geo chest to get there. Tuk sells Rancid Eggs. Leaving the Tuk screen, go out the bottom exit (right below the entrance to the Royal Sewers). Go all the way down and go left. You will arrive in a room with an unstable floor, climb the wall on the left and discover a hidden path. Rest on the Bench, break the scaffolding and head all the way to the right until you find another Rancid Egg. Now go left, go down, and go right. Near the end, you will hear a voice; Follow her to the next screen. The path is straight, prepare for the boss battle.

Facing the Dung Defender

Dung Defender has one main attack: throwing balls of dirt that bounce across the screen while he hides underground. You can try to bounce the balls to get them out of the way, but they’re kind of tough. The Vengeful Spirit spell usually destroys them the first time, but be careful not to get hit while casting the spell. When he starts throwing the balls, it’s your chance to attack – you can land about 5 or 6 hits if you’re quick. After a few hits, he will fall and be vulnerable for a little while. Take the opportunity to heal yourself with Focus, and if you have full health, hit him. After falling two or three times, he will change his strategy, staying underground for longer and emerging to attack. The secret here is to wait for him to start hiding again before attacking. Defeating him earns you the Defender’s Crest. Take the item and wait for the gates to open.

Advancing through the Sewers

Go right and activate the water pump. Break the scaffolding to open the way and go back a few screens, going down as indicated in the image I sent you mentally.

Exploration and Isma’s Grove

Go all left, go down the platforms and go right. Here you will need to Super Dash, going straight through the spikes on the next screen. Before hitting the wall, stop and go down to the left, then use Super Dash to the right side and go up. In the top left corner, there is a Rancid Egg waiting for you. Continue to the right and go all the way up. Up there, there will be an X element for you to inspect. Drop down and exit to the right. Climb the walls, go all the way to the right, then go down until you reach an open area where you will have to defeat all the enemies to get out.

Conquering Isma’s Tear

Arriving at Isma’s Grove, go straight to the end and inspect the item on the ground. You will gain Isma’s Tear, which allows you to swim in acid. Test your new skill by falling into the acid and swimming to the right. Climb the walls and save Grub. Continue going up, go left, go down and left, returning to where “element X” was.

Returning and Finding Emilita Eterna

From there, head left until you reach a dead end with an exit upwards. Climb the walls, head right until you find a light that you can “enter”. Go up and left, where you will find Emilita Eterna. Talk to her and activate the switch to open the door.

City of Tears

Meeting with Emilita

First of all, go two screens to the left and activate the lever, then take a look at the fountain. He goes back to Emilita’s door, but this time goes up, using the two platforms just above. There will be some new enemies here, so keep an eye out for the Great Husk Sentry, who is pretty tough. He protects himself with his shield, leaving only a small gap to attack. If you can, better avoid it.

Inside the Building

On the second platform, enter the building. Take a look at the enemies inside and go through the false wall on the right (you have to do a little jump to reveal it). Inside, there’s the Gorgeous Husk that will drop a lot of Geo (about 400). There’s a Grub trapped in a building on the lower right platform, but it’s guarded by a Great Husk Sentry. If I were you, I’d stop by the bank first.

Activating the Stables Station

Once that’s done, leave the building, jump to the platform on the right, jump again and exit through this exit. You will see two platforms on the right, go down further and then go down to the right. Use the Bank, activate the Stable Station. If you haven’t grabbed that Grub yet, now is the time. If you’ve already taken it, let’s take the Stables to the City Warehouses, this will take you to the left side of the map.

Descending to the Sanctuary of Souls

Leaving the Stables, on the next screen, follow the path down and exit to the lower right. Keep going right, go down to the left of the Bank and follow the path down. Go straight and exit through the upper exit. You are now in the Sanctuary of Souls. A mini-boss will appear that shoots magical orbs, hit him a few times and he falls. Activate the lever in the center and take the elevator on the left to the top, enter the room.

Boss: Soul Warrior

This mini-boss is calm, advances with the sword and teleports. If you hit him by jumping, he teleports and counterattacks. Take advantage of the clear pattern and hit it again. Sometimes he fires orbs that follow you (more or less). He climbs to the top left corner of the room and leaves.

Boss: Soul Master

This boss loves to use orbs. He teleports straight away, so be quick and use the dash to get close and hit him. When he charges at you, jump and dodge. After a few hits, he will need to recover, just take one hit and use the opportunity to heal. Afterwards, it will fly high and hit the ground, creating waves. Defeated, he tries to trick you by falling, but prepares for more action. When he starts to concentrate, hit him several times. Get the Desolated Dive by reading the instructions.

Exploring and Getting Upgrades

Now you can break those shaking floors you’ve seen around. Go back and use Desolated Dive on the white ground. Defeat the enemies, activate the lever and use Desolated Dive again. Pick up the item to obtain a Hallownest Seal. Go back, break the ground next to the Soul Totem to save a Grub.

Now, remember that Fancy Key we got from Sly? The time has come to use it. Use it on the locked door, defeat some enemies and the Shade Soul is hers, an upgrade for the Vengeful Spirit.

End of Phase

Return to the Fungal Wastes, now with the ability to dive into acid. Climb the wall, use Desolated Dive on the shaking ground to open a shortcut. Okay, you explored everything and even got some upgrades!

Fungal Wastes

It is essential that you go to the bank, which is at the bottom of the level. Go left, then down, then right. Go down again and you will find it. After that, head to Mantis Village.

Arriving at Mantis Village

First, make sure you have full health and a full Soul bar, as you will need it. Now, direct yourself to Vila Mantis and go down the exit at the bottom. You’ll have to go through a series of locked doors until you reach the base of this screen.

Preparing for Battle

When you reach the middle of the bosses, you will see a sign saying “Challenge”. Take a look at her and prepare for the fight that comes next.

Boss: Mantis Lords

The fight starts with a Mantis challenging you. She has three types of attack: a simple spear strike that travels across the entire level, an attack in which she appears above you and descends vertically with the spear, and the last, an attack with the spear spinning like a boomerang. Wait for her to attack (dash towards her if she’s far away) and attack right away. The intervals between attacks become shorter as you hit the Mantis Lord.

After defeating the first one, the other two will challenge you together. They attack one after the other or at the same time. The double attack with the spinning spears is the trickiest to dodge and counterattack, so my suggestion is to simply dodge this one and wait for the other two attacks to attack. They don’t fall together, but generally, when one falls, the other is close by. By winning the battle, you earn their respect, the “Respect” feat, and the doors open.

Exploring After the Battle

Take a look at the map and head towards the upper right exit. You will notice that the Mantises guarding the lever will not attack you, and will even bow. Enter the next building and hit the chest above to get the Mark of Pride Charm. There is another chest above this one that contains a Hallownest Seal. Go down to the right and notice the path a little lower on the right, it is a secret path with a Geo chest. There is another hidden path further down with a Bench, use it.

Towards Deepnest

After all that, go back to the Mantis Lords area and go left, towards Deepnest.

Deepnest

Finding Cornifer and Moving Forward

Go straight left until you find an opening that goes up. There’s a Geo box on the right and, at the top on the left, Cornifer is waiting for you with a fresh map for you to buy. Continue left, and be careful with the spikes, and climb up when you reach the other side.

In the openings, one on the left has a Geo chest and another on the right as well. Go up and off the screen. You will see some worms passing by on your right; this path takes you to two Geo boxes.

Facing New Enemies

Going left and going up, you will come across the first Dirtcarver. Quick but easy to deal with. Just below you is another Geo box. Take it and go left. Avoid the worms and thorns, and encounter yet another new enemy. Here is a false floor that takes you to another Geo box. You want to go up, making your way to the bottom left exit of the screen.

Descending to Nosk Encounter

The right is a dead end, so go left and go all the way down to a false floor. Follow the worm to the right and continue to the end. One of the false floors drops you into a hot spring with a Bench. Use the Bank, go left, jump on the platform, then left and use Super Dash to the right. This leads you to a false wall; break it and exit to the left. Rescue Grub and go up through the opening on the left, where there is another false wall. Follow it to the end and break another false wall. Follow your clone to the bottom right.

BOSS: Nosk

Prepare for battle against Nosk. He advances and retreats, shooting orange goo that sticks to the ground. He jumps and does a dash to avoid it. Sometimes he jumps and it rains goo everywhere. The best way to avoid it is to wait for the last gunk and dash in the opposite direction. Nosk is fast, so be careful when healing. When he prepares the slime rain, he runs to the corner and takes the opportunity to heal himself. After defeating him, he continues right to get the Pale Ore. He leaves the screen to the left.

Rescuing Grub and Finding Cloth

Super Dash to the right, go up and go to the top left corner of the screen, where there is a Grub surrounded by spikes. Rescue him and come back. Ignore the Zote for now and go up, following the upper left path until you find the Cloth and a Bench. Go back, go down and go right until you reach a false floor, and go back to the Bank.

Adventure on the Failed Tramway

There is a hidden path to the left. Take it, it takes you to the Failed Tramway. There, you will find the Carver Hatchers, which release Dirtcarvers, but are easy to defeat. Go left until an abandoned building. Enter it from above, falling, and go back to save Zote. Then, return to the first Bank, at the bottom of the map.

Going to the Ancient Basin

Ancient Basin

Getting the Map with Cornifer

As soon as you leave the tram room, go down a little and you will start to hear Cornifer’s voice. Follow the sound until you find it and buy a map to make your exploration easier. Then go back to the tram room and this time go down to the lower left. As soon as you enter the screen, you will hear a Grub crying. Walk a little to the left and go down. Here there is a false floor; Use your Dive skill to break the ground.

Exploring and Finding Cloth

Head all the way to the top left corner, eliminating enemies along the way. After dealing with them, Cloth will appear to say hi. Now go right and go down, following the path to the left, passing the Lesser Mawleks. There will be an element to inspect and collect the Pale Ore. Go down to your left and go right. Watch out for the two Belflys in this part; You can jump and use your Shade Soul ability to take care of them. There will be one more to your right, on higher ground, and another near the scaffolding.

Returning and Preparing for the Boss

Go back to the tram room and go down through the lit hole to where the Cornifer was, but now exit to the lower left. There is a toll machine that you can use to generate a Bank (for 150 Geo) if you want. Use Super Dash to the left, and you can stop halfway to get a Geo rock.

Facing New Enemies

Fall down the first hole, grab Geo’s rock on your left and fall down the next hole. Here you will find the Mawlurk, which stands there spitting orange bubbles. If you stay close and attack, the bubbles won’t reach you. Go right and slide along the left wall to avoid spikes on the floor. Keep going forward, you’ll see a Mawlurk on the ceiling, better ignore it. There will be some more to your left and another on the ceiling further on. Ignore this one too and fall into the hole, going to the right. Go past the big worm to a hidden path to get a Simple Key.

Boss: Broken Vessel

Prepare to face the Broken Vessel. He has several quick attacks that can catch you by surprise. Brings the Quick Focus Charm, which can help a lot. The Mark of Pride Charm and Longnail are also useful here. Be careful with the blobs he summons, they can overwhelm you. Attack the Broken Vase once and then focus on eliminating the blobs to have space to dodge its attacks. An efficient way to attack him while summoning blobs is with your Desolate Dive ability.

Taking the Monarch Wings

After the battle, go left until the end to get the Monarch Wings. Now it’s time to test your new skill. Follow the path to a room with a Grub that will require the use of all your skills.

Kingdom’s Edge

Departing from the Tram Station

First, take advantage of the Bank, get off the tram and take the upper right exit. Climb to the top and exit this screen. Now, let’s take a quick tour of the Royal Sewers. Keep going up and, swimming a little to the left, you will see an opening above. Use the double jump to reach it, rescue Grub and go all the way to the right until you find a false floor, taking you back to the beginning.

Super Dash and the Detour

Now do that Super Dash to the left. Continue down and to the right, break the scaffolding and continue straight until you reach Emilita’s room. Check the map and now go all the way to the left, towards the Blacksmith for that clever upgrade on your nail. Then, go back to the main menu and load the game at the tram station bank.

Entering The Hive

This time, take the path to the right and enter the Hive. Break the wall and face the enemies. Continue to the right, go all the way down to the bottom left corner and exit the screen. Go left to get a Bank outside the honey. Advance to the end on the right, get the Geo rock and the Essence tree. Go all the way up and exit to the left. Leaving at the top, don’t forget the Geo rock on the right, go all the way up and go left for more Geo, then go right to exit the screen.

Rescuing Grub

In the upper middle of the screen, there is a Grub. To get there, you’ll need a combination of Super Dash and mid-Dash double jump. At the bottom of this room, there is a wall that you can break on the left, near the Mask Fragment. To break it, you need to attract the Hive Guardians (the bees that jump) to the wall so they can break it.

Preparations for the Boss

After getting the Mask Fragment, go left and break the scaffolding. Now, we’re heading towards a boss fight, so fill up your Soul meter. Go back to the room with the jumping bees and exit to the left.

Boss: Hive Knight

Right away, upon entering the Hive Knight room, the doors lock and the show begins. First, you will notice bees falling towards you. Although you can attack them to fill your Soul bar, they cannot be defeated. The Hive Knight has a quick forward spear attack. The best strategy is to jump over him, use a dash if necessary, and attack him from above or behind. After each attack, he disappears quickly and attacks again. The good news is that every now and then, it takes a break, giving you a chance to heal. Once you win, go right, get the Hiveblood Charm and go back the way you came.

Exploring Kingdom’s Edge

Go back to where you found the Mask Fragment and exit to the left. Go down the lower left path, break the wall and continue exiting to the left. Break the scaffolding and climb the platforms to exit the screen. There’s a Soul Totem on the right if you need it, and then continue up and to the right.

Missions and Discoveries

You will find a scaffolding structure and a false floor. Break the scaffolding and dive in to rescue a Grub. Return to the broken scaffolding and follow the path. Further up, near the left wall, you will hear the Cornifer. Buy a map from him and exit the screen to the bottom right. Go to the Bank and enter the building to learn a new skill from Nailmaster Oro for 800 Geo.

Continued Adventures

There is a false floor near the end of the screen. Dive into it until you reach a room full of spikes. Head right to rescue another Grub. If you want, there’s a fake wall below Grub that leads to more adventures and a big Geo. Go left, go through the spikes and exit to the lower left.

Going to the Colosseum of Fools

Go up and stop to the right to get the Quick Slash Charm. Keep going up, hit Geo’s rock and head left. Go find Bardoon and then fall to the bottom right side of the screen, hit the Dream Tree with the Dream Nail to collect the Essence.

The Colosseum of Fools

Now, go to the Coliseum of Fools. If you saved Zote, you’ll find him in a cage. Use the Bench next door and destroy a fake wall to reveal a hot spring.

Return and New Paths

Now, with everything explored and ready, it’s time to return to the City of Tears. Fall down, activate the lever, go through the platform on the left and rescue another Grub. Then, go back to the King’s Station by swimming to the lower right side of the screen, where there is a secret path, use the Bank and take the Stables to the Queen’s Station.
