Fungal Wastes

Getting the Mask Fragment

First step: leave the Stables Station and go straight to the right. You will find a small challenge that takes you to a Mask Fragment. Don’t miss your chance to get this valuable item and then use the top right exit.

Finding Grub and the Spore Shroom Enchantment

Look, on the screen you go to, there’s a Grub and the Encanto Spore Shroom waiting for you. Grub is at the top, on the left side of the screen. You’ll be able to get to it by jumping on the bouncing mushrooms. Encanto is at the bottom right. Oh, and there’s a fake wall right below Grub, which takes you straight to Deepnest. It’s worth exploring.

Exploring Deeper

Heading left, you’ll come across a dead end, full of infected bushes to inspect. When you return, the floor will give way, creating a huge hole that drags you to the bottom. From there, head left and make your way to the top, then use Super Dash to cross to the right side and take the lower exit.

False Walls

In the middle right of the screen, a little above the giant worm, there is a wall that is not quite what it seems. Break it and continue. Be careful, because there are 3 fake Grubs and one real one. Once you’ve explored this section, it might be a good idea to go back to the main menu and load the game at the Bank in Queen’s Station, and then travel back to Greenpath.

Greenpath

Crossing the Thorns Area

Do you remember that vast field full of thorns that once seemed like a dead end? Now it’s time to cross it. Pay attention to the path and replenish your Soul along the way. There is a challenge ahead that will test all your acquired skills. Most of the route is intuitive, but there is a part, at the very end, that can get complicated: a narrow corridor with spikes on the floor and ceiling. You need to reach a higher point on the left and use Super Dash to cross to the other side. Don’t forget to pick up the Rancid Egg below before continuing.

Learning with Nailmaster

Talk to the Nailmaster and agree to learn the Big Shot. Tip: don’t use the nearby bank, so you can top up from the last one you used, making it easier to return if necessary. Open the map and head towards Lake Unn.

Lake of Unn and the Shape of Unn

Once there, swim to the left. Use Super Dash to speed up and find a hidden path across the lake. Follow it to the bottom, where a creature will emerge from the acid and grant you the Shape of Unn Charm. Top up from the previous Bank again to continue.

Facing the Vengefly King

Exit the Bank room and the next screen at the top. Continue up to the top left side and exit the screen. You will enter the Vengefly King boss room. If you didn’t save Zote before, take the opportunity to hit the skull to earn an achievement. Continue right towards the Howling Cliffs.

Exploring the Howling Cliffs

Climb all the way to the upper right side, hit the chest and jump inside to land. You will have to deal with 2 Baldur Elders. Defeat them, head right and get the Baldur’s Shell Charm. There is a passage going up, a little to the left of the enchantment. Climb up it and follow it until you find a Grub. Then, exit this screen on the upper left side. You will see the Howling Cliffs title on the screen.

Howling Cliffs

Getting the King’s Idol

First, go all the way left until you find the King’s Idol. Once you have the idol in hand, go back a little and use the Dream Nail on the Dream tree. He collects the Essence she releases.

Finding Cornifer and Exploring

Continuing to the upper right side of the screen, you will soon hear the Cornifer whistling. Buy a map from him to make your exploration easier. A little below the Cornifer, and above the Tree of Dreams, there is a false wall. Break it to discover a secret path. Inside, there’s a shiny object to inspect, a hole that leads to a Traveler’s Diary, and another false wall to the right. This path takes you to the body of a giant insect. Use the Dream Nail on him.

Activating the Artifact

Go back to the previous room and take a look at that artifact that looks like just a background decoration. In fact, you can interact with it. Position yourself in the middle and point your Nail upwards, making several attacks to activate it.

Following the Life Trail

Now, go back to Cornifer’s room and take the path to the right. In this new area, go straight to the right until you start to see traces of Life (those blue flowers). Follow these trails that will lead you to a body with a shiny object. This object is Joni’s Blessing Charm.

Finding the Mato Nail Master

Return to Cornifer’s room and now go above him, to the upper right side of the screen, and leave here. Go down immediately and follow the lower right side. You will arrive at a building with a Bank. There is a hidden path on the right that takes you to Nailmaster Mato, who will teach you the ultimate Nail Art, the Cyclone Cut.

Return to Dirtmouth

Leave the building and continue up and to the right until you reach a cliff. Then use Super Dash to return to Dirtmouth.

Dirtmouth (After the Howling Cliffs)

Finding the Grimm

As soon as you get back, stop by that big tent in Dirtmouth. Inside, going all the way to the right, you will find a character called Grimm. He will gift you with the Grimmchild Charm. It is a meeting that promises to start a series of very interesting events.

Visiting Sly’s Store

Don’t forget to stop by Sly’s store. In addition to the usual things, there will be an entrance to his basement. Explore this area until the end, talking to Sly, and he will give you the Nailmaster’s Glory Enchantment. If you are missing maps or Pins, now is the time to complete your collection with Iselda.

The Challenge of Gray Prince Zote

On the far right side of Dirtmouth, there is a house where you find the boss Gray Prince Zote. Maybe it’s better to leave this battle for later, especially if you’re looking to strengthen yourself before the fight.

Grubfather Rewards

Don’t forget to visit the Grubfather to get your rewards: Geo, Grubsong, Rancid Egg, Seal of Hallownest and Pale Ore. But hey, there’s one detail: if you haven’t rescued all the Grubs by now, you’ll lose the Pale Ore, essential for improving your nails. An alternative is to conquer the second Coliseum of Fools challenge to guarantee another Pale Ore.

Towards King’s Station

Once these tasks are complete, it’s time to take the Stables to the King’s Station. Get ready, because the journey is far from over.

City of Tears

Uncovering Secrets

Once you use the Simple Key, you will discover several interesting items around the area. There’s a hidden Traveler’s Diary waiting for you, as well as a spirit that’s perfect for using the Dream Nail and gaining some more of that precious Essence.

Collecting Items

On the fourth floor, keep your eyes open to find a Rancid Egg. Furthermore, at the top, you will find a Bench where you can rest and save the game. Very close to this Bank, there is a false wall that, if you explore, will take you directly to the Resting Grounds.

Commerce and Improvements

Before venturing deeper, take the opportunity to pass by the fountain, near the exit towards the Royal Sewers. There, you can sell your artifacts to Relic Seeker Lemm and make some extra money. Then, go all the way to the left until you find the Blacksmith. If you’ve collected 2 Pale Ores, this is where you’ll want to use them to enhance your nail and make it even more powerful.

Accessing New Paths

Last but not least, discover the elevator that takes you to the Forgotten Crossroads, located in the top left corner of the map. Activate and use this elevator to open more paths and explore new areas.

Infected Crossroads

Shopping with Salubra

First stop: Salubra. It is on the right side of the screen, near a Bank. Invest everything you can in Charms and Carvings. These items will give you a good advantage in future challenges.

Returning to Dirtmouth

After filling your pocket with new charms, take the Stables back to Dirtmouth. A golden tip: equip the Defender’s Crest Charm when you are near a Bank. This will guarantee you a discount later.

Exploring the Infected Crossroads

Now, go down the shaft and go left until you reach the big screen before the Grubfather. As soon as you enter, use your double jump ability and aim up to hit a false ceiling. When it breaks, climb the walls until you find a hidden path on the left that takes you to a Dream Tree. Use your Dream Nail and collect the Essence.

Ancestral Mound and More Essence

Head to Ancestral Hill, which is between the Bench below you and the Life Cocoon. It’s that place where the shaman gave you the ability to dash. Inside, go to the top left corner, where you’ll see a lit path above. Use your double jump to reveal a path to the right and collect more Essence from the Dream Tree.

Before Leaving Infected Crossroads

Don’t leave the Infected Crossroads yet. Go to the right of the hole and dive onto the false floor of this screen. This takes you to a Fossilized Goam that you can inspect for a Hunter’s Journal entry.

Fungal Waste Adventure

Arriving at Fungal Waste, open your map and check the path to the right, where the Bank is. Stop by Comedor de Pernas’ store and buy everything he offers. With the Defender’s Crested Enchantment, you will get a discount. After shopping, head directly left, swim across a small pool of acid, take the path to the left and hit another Dream Tree to collect Essence. Once this is done, exit through the top left corner towards Canyon de Neblina.

Fog Canyon

Starting in Fog Canyon

Once you enter Fog Canyon, climb to the top and discover a hidden path to the left. Drop down to the lowest platform to get a Hallownest Seal. Then, walk around the area and exit through the exit just below the Hallownest Seal. This next screen is full of eggs that explode when touched. Go to the bottom left corner to get an Enchantment Carving. Leave the screen the same way you entered.

Finding Cornifer

Go down until you find an exit on the left and follow it. Go up the platforms to the top left corner, until you hear the Cornifer. Buy a map from him to make your journey easier. Go back to the previous screen and now exit through the bottom left corner.

Path to the Teacher’s Archives

Arriving at the Professor’s Files screen, do a Super Dash from the top right edge. This takes you to a Grub. Talk to Quirrel outside the archives before entering. Inside, prepare for combat using the Bench above and then climb down the hole.

Boss: Woohoo

Uumuu only has two attacks, both involving lightning. One of them scatters rays randomly across the screen and the other aims at your position. Despite only having two attacks, Uumuu offers a good challenge. It has little time to heal itself, so the Quick Focus Charm is essential. Uumuu is only vulnerable when Quirrel appears to attack him. Also equip the Grubsong Charm to compensate for the little Soul you will collect.

Exploring the Professor’s Archives

After the fight, continue exploring. In the ray tank, you find a new entry for the Hunter’s Diary (Charged Lumafly). In the bottom left corner, there is a large water tank. Inspect and, after the scene with Quirrel, use the Nail of Dreams on the spirit inside the tank. Inside the dream world, attack the spirit several times and concentrate to achieve the ‘Teacher’ feat.

Leaving the Archives

Exit the archives to the left and break the scaffolding to continue. Open the map and see the path to Greenpath. Go to this screen and take the path to the left. Go up at the first opportunity to find a Life Cocoon and another Hallownest Seal. Go back to the previous room and continue left. Climb up and circle to the other side to break the scaffolding. Enter the Monte Crescido building and, once inside, go up to the upper right side, where the doors close. Defeat enemies and consume Storm Howls, learning a new spell. Break the scaffolding on the left and leave Fog Canyon via the Greenpath exit.

Greenpath

Discovering Hidden Paths

Right away, check the walls on the right to reveal a secret path. Here, you will find a Traveler’s Diary. After getting the diary, exit the screen to the left. There’s a boss there, but it’s up to you to face him or not.

In Search of Grub and More

Leaving this area, continue left and go down the lower left exit on the next screen. Follow the path all the way to the left, passing through the acid river, until you find three platforms that take you up and to the right. They will guide you to a Grub. At the same height, but to the right, there is a Geo chest waiting for you.

Finding a Vase Fragment

Continue left until you see a platform you can cut across. But before you do that, climb the walls above you and head right to find a Vase Fragment. The cut platform serves as a shortcut.

Preparation for the Boss

Go back to the screen where you found the Traveler’s Diary and go to the right (just below the Bank), but don’t forget to use the Bank to prepare for the boss fight. Go to the end on the right and enter the ‘Sanctuary of Stone’.

Boss: No Eyes

In this area, you have already come before to get a Mask Fragment. Now, the challenge is to face No Eyes’ tomb. Use the Nail of Dreams on the spirit to start the fight. No Eyes will summon white spirits that roam the room. They don’t follow you directly, but they divert their path a little if you’re close. The boss teleports after standing still for a while. If you have difficulty, stay in the middle below to heal, as the spirits cannot reach you there. As you attack No Eyes, more spirits will appear and he will teleport faster. Keep up the pace, drop down to heal when necessary and you’ll soon have won, earning 200 Essences.

Exploring the Greenpath and Beyond

After the fight, go back to the first screen and go down to the Fog Canyon. Take the lower right exit, heading towards Desperdícios Fúngicos (Queen Station). At Rainha Station, use the middle exit on the left to Willoh’s room. Double jumping from Willoh’s position reveals a secret path where you can get the Seal of Hallownest. Use the Stables to go to the King’s Station.

Advancing through the City of Tears

Leaving the station, head uphill. Use the elevator and get the Traveler’s Diary from the first opening on the right, then go up the elevator again. Continue up and exit through the upper left exit. To the right, the gates close. Defeat all enemies and go right to get a Vase Fragment. Go back to the previous screen and exit to the left.

Path to the Colosseum of Fools

Do not use the elevator; instead, climb the right wall until you find a ledge. Jump to the left, use the dash and wings for a final push to the top. Head towards the Coliseum of Fools.

Kingdom’s Edge

At the Coliseum of Fools

Once you arrive at the Colosseum, you will face two challenges: the Test of the Warrior and the Test of the Conqueror.

Warrior Test

Get ready to face 11 waves of enemies. If you saved Zote previously, he will be your final opponent in this test. When you win, you will earn an Enchantment Notch, 900 Geo and the Warrior achievement.

Conqueror’s Test

This test is a little more intense, with 16 waves of enemies culminating in the confrontation with Oblobble as the final boss.

Boss: Oblobble

The fight is against two Oblobbles. They have one main attack, spitting acid. A crucial detail is that, upon defeating the first, the second goes into frenzy mode, recovers health and increases its power. Focus your attacks on one of the Oblobbles, as the other will recover its health anyway. After beating them, collect the Geo, Pale Ore and get ready for another fight towards the Bank.

Preparation for Another Battle

After using the Bench to prepare, go all the way to the right and continue through the next screen also to the right.

Boss: Hornet (Reunion)

In this fight, Hornet brings the same attacks as before, but with shorter intervals and some new features. One of them is a counterattack when attacked from above. It also creates three wires that deal damage on contact, which you can and should destroy to prevent the screen from becoming full of them. The time to heal is when she becomes vulnerable after a few attacks. After the fight, continue right, go down one level and exit through the bottom left screen.

Going to the Cast-Off Shell

Proceed all the way to the left and get the King’s Mark. After the cutscene, check your map and head to the lower exit towards the City of Tears. But first, climb the entire wall to the scaffolding and break it to find a Traveler’s Diary. Use the shortcut hidden at the bottom left (you’ll need to swim).

Once in the City of Tears, take the lower path towards the Ancient Basin.

Ancient Basin

Taking a Walk Through the Royal Sewers

First of all, let’s take a walk. Take the first exit on the left, heading to the Royal Sewers. Go through the Sewer Defender’s room. This time, you can talk to him. Continue until you find the only Bank in the area and prepare for an epic fight. Near the Bank, dive onto the false floor and follow it to the bottom right corner, until you find a dead end. Start going left and exit through the bottom left of the screen. You will find a false wall that will lead you to a large river. Continue left until you see a giant bug in the center of the room and attack it to start the fight.

Boss: Flukemarm

This boss has a single attack: throw Flukefeys (2 at a time). They accumulate quickly, so eliminate them as soon as possible to avoid the screen full of enemies. With your enhanced nail, you should defeat them in one hit. If you’re having trouble, consider using the Fragile Strength charm, purchased from the Leg Eater. A good strategy is to stay on the ground and use the first platform on the right to attack, but be careful not to stay there for too long. When you win, collect the Fluke’s Nest enchantment on the upper left platform.

Returning to the Ancient Basin

Return along the same route to the Ancient Basin. Along the way, there is a Dream Tree in the bottom right corner of a large vertical screen, accessible via a secret path. When you enter the next screen, grab a Traveler’s Diary in the bottom right and exit through the bottom left to the Ancient Basin.

Preparing for Life’s Challenge

At Banco do Bonde, team Coração Frágil, Benção de Joni and Coração de Sanguevida. You need 15 blue masks for the next challenge without losing any lives. Go down the lit hole and continue until you find the Bloodlife door, which will open with 15 masks.

Earning the Lifeblood Core Charm

The place is full of thorns. Your mission is to reach the bottom right corner to get the Lifeblood Core enchantment. Don’t forget to pick up the Arcane Egg just below the enchantment, an item that can be permanently lost. Then go back to the entrance.

Uncovering the Secrets of the Abyss

Go down to the bottom of the Abyss and go left. Activate the platform and use Howls of the Abyss (by pressing Focus/Quick Cast with the direction up) to obtain the Scream of the Abyss. Return to the surface, go right, climb the platforms to the top of the building and activate the switch. Use a Super Dash to cross to the right and collect the Shadow Cloak. Collect the second Arcane Egg on the way back.

Continue left a little until you find an opening that leads upwards. Follow the secret path, use the Shadow Cloak to pass through the black gate, and inspect the structure on the left for a new journal entry. Talk to Hornet at the top of the Abyss and return to the Tram. Now, you can change the charms if you wish and take the Tram to the Deep Nest.

Deepnest

Exploring the Deep Nest

Start by going left until you find the screen full of worms. Exit underneath this area. Go down and take the first right, cross the black gate with a dash. Continue along the path and you will find the Sharp Shadow Enchantment. Then, destroy the scaffolding, climb up and go left until you find a hidden path that leads to the corpse of a Garpede, guaranteeing a new entry in your hunting diary.

Finding a Vase Fragment

Go back to the worm screen and this time exit through the top left. To get to the top left corner of this area, you will need to use Garpede as a springboard, hitting it with your fingernail. A Vase Fragment awaits you there. Then, use the Tram to go to the Ancient Basin.

Contribution to the Hidden Source

Once in the Ancient Basin, you have a special mission: deposit 3000 Geo in the hidden fountain to gain a Mask Fragment. This investment is worth it for the improvements it brings.

Towards the Palace and Pico de Cristal

Head to the Palace Grounds and find a false wall on the right that takes you to the Hidden Station. Activate the Stables there and return to Dirtmouth. From there, just take the elevator to Pico de Cristal.

Crystal Peak

Getting the King’s Idol

Start by heading to the far right of the area, where the floor is adorned with dazzling crystals. There, you will find the King’s Idol waiting for you. Once you’ve picked it up, it’s time to exit this screen.

Saving a Grub

Continue to the right entering a new area. Here, your objective is to rescue a friendly Grub. After the rescue, go back a little and look for a Dream Tree. Use your Dream Nail on it to release the Essence and don’t forget to collect it.

Climbing Pico de Cristal

Now, head to the left side of the screen and begin your climb. You will go up until you can exit through the upper right side of the area. Continue climbing until you reach the top of Crystal Peak, known as the Crown of Hallownest.

Conquering the Pale Ore

At the top of Hallownest’s Crown, head all the way to the left until you find a precious Pale Ore. After collecting your reward, prepare for a daring cliff jump and descend to the bottom right corner of the map, towards Mount Crystallized.

Exploring Mount Crystallized

When you enter the building, immediately dive down and follow the path to the top right to save another Grub. In the lower left, near the Grub, you will find a crystallized shadow. Break it to unlock the Dark Descent spell.

Descending to the Resting Grounds

After collecting your rewards and unlocking new powers, drop down to the Resting Grounds and continue your journey.

Resting Grounds

Xero’s Tomb Challenge

First of all, you may want to stop by the Bank for quick preparation. Then, go face Xero’s tomb.

Boss: Xero

Xero attacks you with 2 Nails that deal damage when returned to him. When you damage him enough, he will start attacking with 4 Nails. A valuable tip is that you can concentrate (Focus) right below him without fear of being attacked, which makes the Deep Focus Charm extremely useful here. Prioritize Charms that help fill your Soul Bar. At this point, Xero shouldn’t pose much of a threat.

Talking to the Psychic

After the battle, go talk to the Seer three times. It will unlock the Spirit Glade, give you a Pale Ore and the Dreammaster Charm, following the instructions in this guide.

Exploring the Spirit Glade

Pass through the Spirit Glade, which is to the right of the Seer. Fighting the spirits here is optional. Climb to the top right and use the Dream Nail on the Dream tree, then collect the Essence. There is a secret room below the Tree of Dreams, at the top of the waterfalls, where you can find a King’s Idol.

More Secrets in the Resting Grounds

Return to the large vertical screen that leads to the Seer. At the bottom, dive into the coffins and go through the false floor. Discover the hidden path to the right, get Geo’s chest, then go up to rescue a Grub. To the right of the chest, there is another hidden path that eventually leads you to a Traveler’s Diary. Before this last secret path, going up, you find the Soul-Eating Enchantment.

Finding the Seal of Hallownest

There is still one more secret path on the left side of the screen, which takes you through several hidden passages to a Hallownest Seal.

Once these tasks are completed, it’s time to take the elevator to go down to the City of Tears.

City of Tears

Business with Relic Seeker Lemm

First, go visit Relic Seeker Lemm to exchange some items for Geo. You’ll find it near the fountain. Take advantage of this opportunity to fatten your pocket.

Improving the Nail

Next, it’s time to give your nails the final upgrade, transforming them into Pure Nail. After upgrading, talk to the Blacksmith outside. He will express a final wish to be defeated with Pure Nail, which can earn you the ‘Purity’ feat. However, if you choose to spare his life, a future achievement awaits you when you visit him at his cabin in Greenpath. Don’t forget to check the map for the location.

Preparing for Combat

Before moving on to the next big challenge, go to the Bank to organize your Charms, thinking about the fight against the Watchman Knight. Afterwards, drop down to the room below, where you will face the Great Husks and Lance Sentries. Activate the lever on the right to open a shortcut.

Opening the way

Enter the room on the right and activate another lever for another shortcut, then exit through the upper right exit. On the next screen, on the left, you will open a shortcut and go back. Go up and take the elevator. On the right, you will find a Grub.

Facing the Watchman Knight

Knight Watcher

For this fight, having the Sharp Shadow and Quick Focus Charms will be very useful. Use Sharp Shadow to cut through their spin attacks and Quick Focus to heal yourself in the brief moments of respite. When they attack with your nail, run through them and counterattack.

Continuing Exploration

After victory, head right, go up, and then go all the way left to find a Hallownest Seal and a Geo chest. Go up the elevator and use the Dream Nail on the body on the stone. In the Dream World, face Lurien the Watcher and focus.

Finally, head to King’s Station and take the Stables to Queen’s Station.
