Indiana Jones’ Greatest Adventures – Complete Walkthrough (Step-by-Step Strategy Guide)
December 16, 2024Raiders of the Lost Ark
Phase 1 – Chachapoyan Temple
Start by walking forward, but keep an eye on the top of the screen. Right at the start, you’ll see one of the stalactites start to sway. Don’t rush! Take a step back and let the stone fall. Then, approach the item container and punch it to get Indy’s iconic whip. Now that you’ve equipped it, head towards the edge of the water, but be careful: if you stand still for too long, another stalactite might fall on your head. Jump across the water and keep running once you land to ensure your safety.
As you continue on, you’ll enter deeper into the temple. Grab the grenade you find along the way and use your whip to take out the bat flying around. As you start to descend the gentle slope, be prepared to deal with two more bats. A single hit from your whip should be enough to eliminate them, and take advantage of the opportunity to collect the gems along the way. Now, be careful: a Hovito native will be in front of you. Jump over him and attack him from behind before he has a chance to fire a dart at you.
In the next area, you’ll see a heart and an extra life, protected only by some stalactites. Wait for them all to fall before continuing. Use the whip on the hook above to reach the extra life, then continue up the slope.
Further ahead, you’ll come across new pools of water. Before moving forward, use your whip to knock down the bat above you. As you approach the water, two piranhas will jump out to attack; take them out quickly. Jump to the next platform, then deal with a lone piranha before reaching the next level.
Now comes a tricky section: run forward and jump over the bamboo traps that emerge from the ground. You should be able to spot the tips of these traps before they are activated. Just past the bamboo traps is a crude spike trap; carefully pass through it and continue down the ramp. Use your whip to break the spider web along the way, but be on the lookout for a spider that sneaks up on you.
Behind the web is a pool that’s too wide to jump straight into. Luckily, there’s a whip hook conveniently placed in the middle. Use it to swing across, but be sure to jump as far as you can to avoid a stalactite above. Once across, break another spider web and collect the gems on the other side. At the end of the climb, eliminate three bats flying around and collect a nearby heart. Jump again over more bamboo traps and prepare for a showdown.
In the next area, you’ll find another item container, a bat, and a native. Use your whip to quickly defeat them, then proceed carefully, jumping over more bamboo traps and grabbing a heart and gems. Be careful now: a stone face will start firing darts at you. Jump onto the floating platform and quickly make your way across four more platforms until you reach solid ground.
Once you reach the area with a black backdrop and two totem poles, position Indy right in front of the black backdrop and roll forward. This maneuver will allow you to avoid three spike traps that fall from the ceiling. While you can run past, rolling is the safest option. Then, jump over the gap and climb up to the next level, where you can use the whip hook to avoid another dart trap.
Continue collecting gems and eliminating bats and natives along the way. Climb up the slope while jumping over bamboo traps and spiders. At the top, face another native before dropping down to the lower level. Pay attention to the sunlight that illuminates two specific spots on the ground: at the first, a stalactite will fall, and at the second, a spike trap will activate. Carefully pass through and roll under the wall blocking the path. When you emerge on the other side, quickly jump to avoid another stalactite and a spider.
You’re now close to the end! Take on the last native and eliminate the two piranhas in the nearby lake. Jump across to the other side, where you’ll encounter another bat and native. Defeat them and use the whip to grab the last item container. Jump over more bamboo traps and spiders, and run towards the end of the level.
Phase 2 – Boulder Chase
You’re about to experience one of the most iconic scenes in the film: the chase with the giant boulder. Once you activate Indy’s controls, you’ll only have a few seconds before the screen starts moving and the huge boulder starts rolling after you. There’s no time to hesitate here; agility is your best ally.
As soon as the screen jolts indicating that the chase has begun, immediately run forward. You’ll soon see a slope; instead of running up it, use quick jumps to gain speed and reach the top more quickly. At the bottom of this slope, be prepared to carefully jump over two sets of spike traps. If you hesitate, you might end up falling straight into them, which would be a disaster with the giant boulder right behind you.
As you continue running, the terrain will become uneven and full of small drops. Here, keep up the pace and be prepared to jump over another spike trap that appears after a bamboo trap. These traps are tricky because you often only notice them at the last second. Soon after, you will face another slope, followed by a descent. At the end of this descent, there is a jewel shining on the ground, but be careful! After picking it up, you will find a combination of a bamboo trap and spikes just ahead. Don’t mistake the jewel for a trap and time your jump well so you don’t fall straight into the spikes.
As you run, the ground will continue to be filled with uneven ledges, and more spike traps will pop up unexpectedly. When you reach the bottom of a higher ledge, be prepared for a precise jump, as a trap will spring up without warning. Further ahead, you’ll pass through a small square hole in the ground—run over it without jumping, as it’s safe—but shortly after, another spike trap will be waiting. The trick here is to stay focused and calm, even with the relentless boulder chasing you.
After crossing an area of flat ground, you’ll see another gem shining on the ground. Grab it quickly and prepare for a climb. At the top of this slope, there will be another spike trap, and after you get past it, another gem will be waiting after a series of small drops. Grab it and keep running, always watching out for the traps that keep appearing.
Now, you’ll face another set of traps: a combination of spikes and bamboo appears just at the top of another slope. Once you’ve cleared this one, you’ll almost immediately encounter a second set of similar traps a little further ahead. Jump past them with precision and continue running up the slope.
At the end of the level, the terrain will appear flat and safe, but this is just an illusion. When you reach an area with two small elevations separated by a flat patch of land in the middle, know that a spike trap is hidden exactly on this flat patch. Jump to avoid it and move forward. Further ahead, another similar patch appears, and again, there is a trap hidden on the flat patch. Once you overcome it, you will be free of the traps and the chase.
With the last trap behind you, just keep running and cross the screen exit to complete the level. Congratulations, you survived the race against time and the giant boulder!
Phase 3 – Nepalese Mountains
When you start the level in the Nepal Mountains, you’ll find yourself in a snow-covered environment filled with traps and enemies. To start, make your way across the icy terrain until you come across a large wooden crate. Once you’re next to it, a punch icon will appear above Indy, telling him to crouch down and punch the crate. This will cause it to slide down the icy slope and come to rest at the foot of a stone wall. Use the crate as a step to climb up the wall, and don’t forget to open the item bag above to grab your whip and collect the gems scattered around the ground.
With your whip in hand, prepare to cross the first obstacle: a large chasm. Use the whip to swing across to the other side, and when you land, watch out for bear traps on the ground. Jump over them with precision, being careful not to get caught between the two spots where the jewels are positioned. When you reach the area near a tree, use the whip to strike vertically and knock down a crow that is flying above you. Next, prepare to face a wolf patrolling the area ahead; attack it with the whip before it has a chance to get close.
Soon after, another raven will appear in the air, followed by a series of snowballs rolling down the mountain. Keep moving and jump to avoid being hit. Further ahead, a wolf will be waiting on a higher level. Climb up and eliminate it, taking the opportunity to enter a small niche in the wall where you can recover health with a heart if you need it. Proceed carefully, jumping over two consecutive bear traps, and keep an eye out for a sniper hiding ahead. Duck to avoid the shots and advance slowly between shots until you are close enough to attack him safely.
Once you’ve passed the sniper, jump over another bear trap and, if necessary, trigger a second trap below to release the heart it holds. Now, use your whip to defeat another crow that’s flying over a cliff. Jump up to a small, snow-covered platform and, if you wish, grab the heart nearby before carefully climbing down the wall to the far left. Doing so will reveal a secret cavern filled with treasure. Inside the cavern, collect two hearts, some shiny gems, and an item bag containing an extra whip. With your items in hand, head back down to the main level.
To exit the area, you’ll find a series of whip hooks stuck into the rocks. There are four in total, but you don’t need to use them all. Focus on the second and fourth hooks to make it easier to cross. Swinging from the last hook, jump straight to the final platform and grab the gem that’s waiting for you. From there, jump back down to dry land, get past another bear trap, and collect two item bags containing a whip and a pistol.
Now it’s time to tackle the climb up the mountain. Jump over the snowballs that roll down and take on the sniper at the top of the hill. A handy tip is to stay just below him and use your pistol or whip to attack him from a safe vantage point. Continue up the slope, facing more snowballs and another sniper who will be shooting aimlessly at the top. Once you’ve defeated him, follow the path ahead, collecting the scattered gems while jumping over more bear traps.
With your pistol equipped, prepare to deal with another sniper hiding in a hole ahead. Take him down with precise shots before continuing on. Next, jump over two consecutive sets of bear traps until you reach another cliff. Jump across to the other side, where a backpack containing a pistol awaits you. As you descend, you’ll find another secret cave within the rock. Explore it to collect a heart, a grenade, a whip, and several precious gems.
Once you’re out of the cave, use the first whip hook to reach a narrow platform without having to use the second hook. On the platform, use the whip to grab a heart from a backpack above, then jump to a wooden platform that’s in a hole in the rock. Here, you’ll have two options: either cross the ice bridge directly, or use the whip hook to swing across and avoid the brittle ice. Choose whichever route you feel is safest, and when you land on the last wooden platform, enter the final area to complete the level.
Phase 4 – Ravenwood Bar
As soon as you start, turn around and grab the grenade that’s hidden right at the start. Then, punch the item container to get your whip before entering the bar. This is your most important ally, so keep it in mind.
Inside the bar, start by exploring the lower level. You’ll need to jump over rats scurrying across the floor and flaming barrels that may appear unexpectedly. Proceed carefully, collecting the heart at the end of the hallway to replenish your energy if needed. Push the barrels along the way to reveal useful items, such as another heart, a grenade, and a whip icon.
With the lower floor explored, head up the stairs to the second floor. As soon as you step on it, the level takes on a new level of tension: flames begin to consume the bar and slowly rise behind you. There’s no time to waste! Head right, collecting hearts and gems as you go. When you reach another staircase, quickly climb it, but don’t forget to push the box you find there to position it under a higher ledge. Use it as a platform to reach the third floor.
Now that you’re higher up, use the whip hook on your right to swing up to a long platform. From there, repeat the process with another hook to reach a set of stairs leading to the fifth floor. Before you go up, be careful: a rat will come up the stairs before you. Wait for it to pass and then make your way to safety. When you reach the next level, jump to a platform with a barrel. Push it to reveal a hidden grenade and continue moving forward. Be careful of the falling flaming barrels and the floor that may collapse beneath your feet.
If you need some energy, grab the heart in the corner and head up to the next floor. Here, you’ll find a large gap ahead. There’s a floor that could collapse, but above it, a whip hook offers a safe alternative. Use the hook if the floor gives way or to reach an extra life that’s hidden in this area. Before continuing, collect the items along the way and be aware that the fire keeps rising, so don’t waste any unnecessary time.
Once you’ve explored the floor thoroughly, head back to the stairs and climb up to the next level. There, grab the heart at the top and wait for the flaming barrel to roll off the platform before jumping onto it. Once again, you’ll find a hook above an unstable floor. This hook can be used to collect a grenade, but save that for after you’ve fully explored the area. On the right side of this floor, past the stairs, are two item bags containing a whip and a pistol. Grab both of these items before climbing up.
On the next floor, you’ll find a crate. Jump on top of it and grab the heart if you need it. Then, stand to the right of the crate and push it down, sliding it down the stairs. This creates a platform that you can use to reach the upper level. Climb onto the crate and jump to the next floor.
You’re almost at the end now. The stairs to the next floor are right in front of you, but if you want, you can head to the left corner to grab one last grenade before heading up. On the final floor, take a moment to collect the last hearts, gems, and items scattered around the left side before running to the right to face the boss. Be prepared for a fight, as the bar has been engulfed in flames, and now it’s a matter of survival and skill.
BOSS: Arnold Toht
Now it’s time to face Arnold Toht, a Nazi agent hell-bent on finding the Ark of the Covenant. He’s holding Marion Ravenwood hostage on a platform above you, and the fight takes place in a confined space filled with platforms and hazards. Be prepared, as Toht will use sneaky attacks to try and defeat you.
As soon as the fight begins, Toht will begin jumping between platforms while throwing flaming bottles that bounce and travel around the screen in predictable patterns. The environment here is treacherous, with an area on the right side that will collapse if you step on it, so be careful where you step. The best strategy is to stay on the left side of the stage, where the terrain is safer, while gauging his movements.
If you’ve followed the level’s steps, you should have already collected a pistol. This will be your main means of attack against Toht. First, locate the item container with the whip and destroy it to free up space, avoiding accidentally picking it up in the middle of the battle. Next, make sure to equip your pistol. It’s essential to effectively hit Toht as he bounces across the platforms.
Now, there are two main ways to attack Toht. One option is to position yourself directly below him and shoot at the exposed body parts on the edge of the platform. This approach requires precision, but is effective if you’re quick. The second option is to stand about two platforms away and shoot diagonally as he moves. This tactic is a bit safer, as it gives you more time to react to his attacks.
During the fight, the key to success is to be cautious and avoid unnecessary risks. Shoot at him whenever possible, but as soon as you see him throwing the flaming bottles, stop attacking and prepare to move. The bottles bounce in relatively predictable patterns, so watch their behavior and adjust your position to avoid getting hit. Stay outside of his attack animation while dodging, as this ensures you have time to react.
As the fight progresses and you drain Toht’s health bar, he’ll start throwing bottles more frequently, and they’ll stay on screen longer before disappearing. This makes the fight more challenging, but his attack pattern remains the same. Stay calm, focus on accurate shots, and avoid getting stuck on the right side, where the floor can collapse.
After approximately twenty to twenty-five successful shots, Toht will decide to retreat, fleeing the fight. Once the score count appears and is completed, the level will end.
Phase 5 – Streets of Cairo – Part 1
Set in the bustling streets of Cairo, you’ll face a level filled with puzzles, treacherous enemies, and plenty of vertical challenges. The level starts with a simple basket and a rat. Roll into the basket to crush the approaching rat. Then, push the basket until it’s positioned under a nearby ledge and use it as a step to climb up. From there, jump to the left, reaching a higher platform and collecting the gems there. Continue climbing until you come face to face with another rat. Take it out before moving on.
Next, drop down the right side of the wall and run along the railing, collecting more gems along the way. When you reach the end, jump to a balcony where a veiled woman is about to throw a jar at you. Position yourself to avoid the attack and, as soon as possible, punch her to neutralize her. Head right and climb up the next platform to reach the level below two soldiers. Luckily, you’ll find an item container that contains a whip. Grab it and use it immediately to take down the soldiers safely, attacking from where you are without exposing yourself. Collect the heart they were protecting and drop down to the awning below.
In the next section, two whip hooks hang in the air above women throwing jugs. Use the first hook to swing across and reach the platform with a basket. Jump onto the basket and from there, climb up to the roof where there is another container with a heart. After grabbing the heart, drop back down and push the basket to the edge of the ledge before following it down.
Use the basket once more to crush a rat and damage the soldiers that appear. Finish off the enemies with your whip and continue pushing the basket, crushing any more rats you encounter along the way. Before moving on to the next awning, be sure to grab the pistol from a nearby container. Climb up the awning and reach a ledge full of jewels, swinging from the hook above to reach the roof on the right. Here, you’ll face a rat and a rock-throwing monkey. To deal with the monkey, dodge the rocks and quickly roll to reach it. Use your whip three times to eliminate it, then jump back down to the ground.
Back on the streets, roll through the basket again to crush another rat and damage a nearby swordsman. Finish the job with your whip and continue pushing the basket to the next awning, collecting a heart along the way. Climb onto the awning, then onto the ledge above, and use the whip hooks to cross another area until you reach a ledge. Here, you can take out a sniper and collect an extra life, as well as a heart from a nearby container. Continue exploring the rooftops, defeating soldiers and rats as you go. The monkey you previously fought may reappear, so keep your eyes peeled.
Further down, as you descend into the streets, you’ll find an area with three levels. Push the first basket down to the street, roll on it to crush a rat and a soldier, and climb up onto the ledge. Repeat the process on the second level, pushing another basket that will hopefully knock over a monkey as you descend. Use the basket as a step to reach the upper level, where you can grab extra items like hearts and gems. From here, you can continue along the roof or drop down to grab a hidden heart, but be careful as you may need to redo a few jumps if the baskets disappear.
In the final stretch, you’ll encounter more monkeys, soldiers, and rats guarding a heart and a pistol. Avoid fighting the unnecessary enemies and head to the right, where a large swordsman will block your path. He doesn’t attack directly, but he’ll swing his sword in an intimidating manner. The trick to defeating him is to remember a classic scene from Raiders of the Lost Ark : a single bullet from your pistol will be enough to defeat him instantly.
Phase 6 – Streets of Cairo – Part 2
When you start the level, you’re immediately thrown into a chase segment. As soon as the level begins, grab the pistol in the right corner of the screen. This will be your main ally during the first half of the level. The scenery will move automatically, so be alert and prepared to move with it.
You’ll soon notice something being thrown towards you: bales of hay that are rolling rapidly across the ground. You’ll need to jump over them while maintaining your position on the right side of the screen so as not to be caught off guard. In the meantime, start firing your pistol forward, even if the enemy isn’t visible at first. Your shots will be useful in clearing the path as you advance.
Eventually, the person responsible for the attacks will appear: a Nazi henchman in a horse-drawn wagon. He’ll keep throwing bales of hay to try to stop you from getting close, so keep up the pace, alternating between jumping and shooting. The trick here is to focus on shooting while avoiding obstacles. The hay bales follow a predictable pattern, which makes it easy to jump at the right time. Also, be careful not to collide with the wagon, as this will cause damage to Indy. Most importantly, if you fall behind and go off-screen, you’ll automatically lose a life, so keep moving constantly.
The henchman on the wagon is tough and will take several shots to defeat, but with patience and precision, you should be able to take him down. Once he’s been eliminated, the game will display a message telling you to jump onto the wagon. This is a critical moment: if you take too long to make the jump, the wagon will slip away and you’ll have to restart that part of the level. Make sure you’re in line with the wagon and jump quickly to ensure Indy lands safely.
Once you’re on top of the cart, the situation changes completely. Your pistol will be taken from you by a huge, intimidating henchman who appears for hand-to-hand combat. Don’t be intimidated, as the strategy here is simple and effective. Position yourself on the right side of the cart and start unleashing combos of punches on the enemy. The key is to not give him time to react: keep the blows flowing. With each punch, the henchman will try to reposition himself or attack back, but if you keep up the pressure, he will be unable to defend himself properly.
After about five or six well-placed punches, Indy will emerge victorious and the henchman will be thrown out of the wagon. With that, the level quickly comes to an end.
Phase 7 – Streets of Cairo – Part 3
Early on, you’ll find an item container right in front of you. Punch it to grab the whip, which you’ll need to progress. Use the whip to clear out the rats crawling on the roof above you, but keep an eye out for the Nazi soldier on the ground ahead. Use the whip again to defeat him before moving on.
When you reach the end of this row of shacks, you’ll see a wooden hook hanging high above. Take a standing jump to reach it and swing back, landing on the roof. Head left to grab a heart if you need to replenish your health, then jump across to the next building. Take out the Nazi patrolling the roof with a whip, collect the heart on the edge, and jump straight down to the street. At the bottom, roll towards the Nazi to stop him from shooting, and finish him off with the whip.
As you continue down the street, you’ll come across a swordsman from Cairo. Without a pistol at your disposal, your best strategy is to let him advance towards you and, at the right moment, jump over him to avoid his blow. From there, you can choose to either fight him with your whip or simply move forward. Further on, push a basket down the street, being careful of the jars that a veiled woman might throw from above. Use the basket to reach an awning, and then use the wooden hooks to swing to the left side of a building. There, defeat the Nazi on the roof and return to the right side, defeating the swordsman along the way. If you run out of energy, there’s a heart waiting at the end of the path.
Once you’ve made it back down to the street, be prepared to face two swordsmen blocking your path. Defeat them with your whip and head to the end of the street, where you’ll find another basket. Use it to climb up to the nearby rooftops. Here, you can explore the three huts in front of you, each containing valuable items: a grenade, an extra life, and a heart, respectively. On the third rooftop, take a long jump to the right to avoid fighting another swordsman. Take out the Nazi patrolling the next building and advance to the end, where you’ll find a pistol and another basket. Grab the pistol and push the basket onto the next awning.
On the awning, use the wooden hook on the right to swing up to a platform in the far right corner. Defeat the Nazi above you and climb up to the roof. To your left, there is a rat, a swordsman, and a static sniper guarding a heart and a grenade. Use the pistol to safely eliminate the enemies and collect your reward. Follow the roof to the end and jump to the next building. Here, you will face three Nazi soldiers and two swordsmen. Use the pistol carefully to eliminate the soldiers before dealing with the swordsmen.
Once you’ve cleared the area, drop back down to the street and run towards the next building. Here, you’ll find another swordsman and a sniper on a raised platform. Avoid the sniper’s fire while you take out the swordsman. To take out the sniper, stand directly below him and shoot upwards. At the end of the street, you’ll find two women throwing jugs and two baskets. Use the basket between the women to climb up to their platform. Defeat the woman on the left first, then jump across to reach the next platforms, where two Nazis are waiting. Watch out for the sniper off-screen who might sneak up on you; use your pistol to take him out. Once you’ve defeated them all, collect the heart and grenade before jumping down to the street again.
In the last part of the level, push the basket to crush the rat and Nazi that are coming towards you. Finish the job with the whip and continue down the street. A little further ahead, you will find another Nazi and a rat. After defeating them, continue forward until you reach the end of the level.
Phase 8 – German Dig Site
As soon as the level starts, punch the item container in front of you to get the whip, which will be essential for dealing with the challenges. Before moving on, take a look behind you to find a grenade and some gems. These extra items will come in handy, so don’t ignore them.
With your whip in hand, start exploring the tracks. Use the green barrels as platforms to jump to the upper level of the tracks, but watch out for crows flying around and carts that may drop rocks on you. The upper track is generally a safer route, as you’ll face fewer enemies here compared to the lower sections, where the Nazis are accompanied by motorcycles. However, keep in mind that if you fall off the upper track, it will be difficult, if not impossible, to get back up, so be careful when jumping.
Continue forward, jumping over the moving carts on the tracks and crossing planks that collapse beneath your feet. Climb onto a barrel to continue along the middle track, while keeping an eye on the upper tracks, where there is a grenade and a pistol. Unfortunately, you won’t be able to reach these items yet, so continue along the path you’re on. When you come across a patrolling Nazi, use your whip to defeat him before continuing on.
Further ahead, you’ll find a green barrel on a slope with several crows flying around it. Use your whip to knock them down and, positioning yourself correctly in the middle of the slope, make a precise jump to reach the rail above on the left. At this point, a cart will approach; quickly avoid it and continue dealing with the crows that appear. At the end of this elevated path, you’ll finally be able to pick up the grenade and pistol you saw earlier. With these items in hand, return to the point where the two paths intersect.
Back at the barrel, make sure to take out any remaining crows and jump over the next cart that appears again. You’ll now be on a long, downward path. This section is relatively easy, with only one other cart as an obstacle. At the end of the path, there’s a lone crow waiting. Defeat it with your whip and drop down to the next level. Here, you’ll find a row of gems on the ground that leads to the end of the path, now closer to the ground.
In the area below, a Nazi will be shooting randomly. You can avoid him completely by jumping to a nearby mound of land, where there are two hearts. These items are great for restoring health if you’ve taken any damage. Keep following the path that leads down under the tracks. There will be another Nazi at the bottom; quickly eliminate him and keep running. At the end of the path, you’ll see a tent. Once you pass through it, the level will be complete.
This is a level that requires a balance between exploring and moving quickly. By mastering jumping and using your whip against the crows and Nazis, you’ll be able to traverse the area efficiently.
Phase 9 – Well of the Souls – Part 1
As soon as you start the level, you’ll be greeted by an obstacle right away: a falling stone wall blocking the path. Don’t waste time, land three quick punches to destroy it and move forward before another wall appears in its place. On the other side, you’ll see a strange orb. Defeat it with a punch and get your whip, an indispensable tool for this level.
Carefully approach the edge of the snake pit. Wait for one of the horizontal stone pillars to emerge from the wall and use it as a platform to cross to the other side. When you reach it, you will find another stone pillar blocking your path and, right behind it, a Nazi soldier. Use your whip strategically to destroy the pillar and defeat the Nazi at the same time. Keep moving forward, repeating the strategy to destroy another similar pillar further ahead. Carefully descend the stairs, keeping your whip ready to attack any bats that approach.
At the bottom of the stairs, you’ll see a carved snake head, which releases a stone pillar to serve as a platform. Jump to the next pillar and take out the Nazi guarding a grenade and a heart in the corner. If you prefer, you can descend the platforms by jumping from one to the other, but it’s safe to just land directly in the center, which saves time, although you’ll miss a few gems scattered along the way.
Once you’re at the bottom, watch for the patrolling Nazi soldier. Wait until he walks away before quietly dropping down and attacking him. Then, destroy two more stone pillars along the way, collecting the hearts hidden in the orbs between them. Soon you’ll come across another snake pit. Just like before, wait for the horizontal pillar to come out and use it to traverse to a raised platform on the other side. Climb the stairs while fighting off two Nazis along the way and jump to a platform with three stacked gems. Use this platform as a foothold to reach the others higher up.
In the far right corner, you’ll find an extra life and a heart protected by a stone pillar, and another heart leaning against the wall to the left. After exploring this upper area and collecting the items, begin your descent deeper into the chamber. Don’t worry too much here, as there are few treasures scattered around, and the focus is on getting through the area. At the bottom, you’ll encounter two Nazis. Use your whip to take them out and continue down the hallway.
Soon you’ll see a boulder that you can push, but ignore it as it serves no purpose in this level. Further on, you’ll face more pits of snakes and flying bats. Use your whip to deal with the bats and cross the pits quickly and accurately to avoid wasting unnecessary time.
At the end of the corridor, you’ll find two pillars that will try to crush you. Wait for the right moment to fall between them and repeat the strategy in another similar section shortly after. When you reach the bottom, face a Nazi with his whip and turn left to continue exploring. Now comes the most challenging part: a series of near-perfect jumps over the last snake pits. Stay calm and time each jump well to make sure you don’t fall.
After crossing the four pits, ignore the rat that appears and focus on destroying the orbs around you to collect hearts and gems. Finally, you’ll find another stone pillar blocking your path. Time your movements well to destroy it as the horizontal pillar begins to protrude, allowing you to quickly run and jump to the final platform. There, you’ll find the Ark of the Covenant and complete the level.
Phase 10 – Well of the Souls – Part 2
At first, you can barely see it, but you’ll find an orb in front of you. Punch it to get your whip, your essential tool, and get ready to face the first obstacle: a pit of snakes. Jump to the other side carefully and be ready to deal with a rat that may appear. You can eliminate it with the whip or simply avoid it by running.
When you reach the end of the area, you’ll see some platforms above you with gems scattered around. Climb up to the second platform and, if you want to take a detour, grab a heart and some more gems before continuing up. At the top, jump into the main hallway on the left and make your way forward until you come across two Nazi soldiers. Duck to avoid them and use your whip before they can react. Up ahead, there’s a block you can push. Position it against the wall to use it as a step and climb up to the platform above. Be sure to explore the top left corner to proceed, but first, take a look at the wall on the right, where there’s a pile of gems and hearts that are easy to collect.
On the highest platform, you’ll face a peculiar challenge: two horizontal pillars that jut out from the walls and can crush you. To get past them, wait until they recede completely, count three seconds, and then jump straight up. If your timing is right, you’ll be at the highest point of your jump when the pillars pop back out, allowing you to land safely at the top. If you’ve taken any damage, there’s a heart on the left side. Continue down the hallway to the right.
Here, you’ll encounter a lone Nazi soldier. He’s easy to defeat with your whip, but the real threat is a trap that drops from the ceiling, like the ones in the first level. After taking out the Nazi, roll across the floor to safely pass under the trap. Next, you’ll face a small pit of snakes, which is easy to cross with a single jump. However, just beyond that, there’s a larger pit that requires careful consideration. After jumping to the other side, destroy the orb you’ll find to get a heart and another whip icon.
Moving on, you’ll face another Nazi. After defeating him, head to the end of the hallway and find a series of stone pillars. Wait for them to recede before jumping on them to grab the heart ahead. Once you’re done, wait for the pillars to recede again and drop down to the next area.
As you fall, you’ll land on a platform against the right wall. Grab the heart there and use the platform to calculate your next jump. Continue down the platforms carefully, avoiding two rats that will be on the ground. When you reach the ground, go left and collect gems and hearts scattered along the first few steps. As you pass the third step, run to avoid a spike trap that drops from the ceiling. A Nazi will be waiting for you just beyond the trap, so be prepared to attack him once you’re safe.
In the next area, you’ll find a series of platforms that descend towards the bottom of the chamber, each with a few gems to collect. Before you start descending, look up: a bat is flying overhead, blending in with the darkness. Use your whip to knock it down before you drop down. Collect all the gems as you jump from platform to platform until you reach the bottom.
Continue down the hallway until you come across more snake pits. The first two can be overcome with simple jumps, but the third requires more attention. Use the whip hook to swing across safely, then jump to a raised platform where a heart and more gems are waiting for you. Collect everything and drop down to the main level. Run towards the exit and successfully complete the level.
Phase 11 – Island Surface
As soon as the level begins, two crows will fly in front of you, one of them carrying a rock. Wait for them to start flying to the right, and at that moment, climb onto the nearby crate and jump to the other side before they return. On the other side, you’ll find a grenade and an item container. Grab the grenade, destroy the container to get the whip, and immediately eliminate as many crows as you can before moving on.
As you descend the slope, two Nazis will be patrolling the lower level. You can either engage them head-on with your whip, or throw the grenade you just found to make short work of them. If you choose to use the grenade, don’t worry, as there’s another one just ahead as a spare. Continue down until you come across a peculiar rock formation. While it looks like you’ll need to use the nearby moving crate, you can simply jump over the rocks and continue onward.
In the next area, position yourself under the spotlight and use your whip to eliminate the two crows that are within your reach. However, a third crow carrying a rock will fly a little higher. Wait for it to fly to the right, then run to catch up with it and knock it down before it returns. Take advantage of this to also eliminate its partner, who will be flying lower down. Advance through the uneven terrain of the island until you find a movable crate that will be essential for the next section. Before pushing it, collect the gems and the whip icon nearby.
Push the crate until it’s flush with the wall and use it to climb up. Before making the second jump, take out the Nazi patrolling the upper level and any crows flying nearby. Once you reach the top, jump over the next rock formation and first attack the two crows carrying rocks to your right, then take care of the third crow flying directly above you. Follow the path downhill until you come to a series of gaps in the ground.
Before jumping to the first platform, use your whip to knock down any crows that are in your line of sight. These crows can knock you into the abyss if you don’t take them out in time, so don’t hold back on your attacks. When you reach the first platform, stand near the edge and take out the two crows that appear at the edge of the screen. On the second block, you’ll see a Nazi walking on the next platform. Use your whip from where you’re standing to knock him down before moving on.
The next platform will be more challenging, with four crows around, three of which will be out of reach initially. Jump and quickly attack the two crows carrying rocks to avoid getting hit. Then, eliminate the last crow before moving on to the next platforms, which, thankfully, will be free of enemies. Take a moment to catch your breath before continuing.
The next area, however, makes up for the previous calm with a veritable infestation of crows. As soon as you reach the first movable box, throw a grenade to eliminate most of the crows at once. This will make the crossing much easier, as there will only be one crow left at the end of the path, which you can easily eliminate with your whip. In addition, the item containers destroyed by the grenade explosion will contain hearts, ensuring that you recover energy before moving on. Grab the spare grenade near the last box and advance to the end of the level.
Phase 12 – Rene Belloq Opens the Ark
Once you take control of Indy, quickly run to the right and grab the backpack containing the whip. This will be your main means of attack and defense throughout the battle. Here, the challenge is not only to hit Belloq, but also to defend yourself from the supernatural manifestations that the Ark releases. Be prepared, because the fight is against both Belloq and the spirits that emerge from the Ark.
The Ark’s first type of attack is a floating spirit, resembling a ghostly head, that slowly moves towards you. The key to dealing with this is to pay attention to its position on the screen. If the spirit is on the opposite side of the Ark from you, wait for it to get close and then jump over it or roll under it. If it’s directly above you, run to the opposite side of the Ark to avoid it. These spirits have a short lifespan, so most of the time you’ll only need to dodge once before they disappear. If you prefer, you can also use your whip to destroy them directly.
The Ark’s second attack is a serpent-like spirit that coils in a spiral towards you. This attack is relatively easy to avoid on its own, but things can get complicated if there’s a poorly positioned floating spirit on screen at the same time. This is why it’s crucial to keep the floating spirits away from or in line with Indy, ensuring that you have enough room to jump or roll without colliding with the serpent spirit. Patience and strategy are key here.
With these attacks in mind, the main goal is to focus your attacks on Belloq himself. By getting close to him, you can land three to five whip strikes before having to resort to defending yourself against the Ark’s manifestations. This alternation between attack and defense becomes the central rhythm of the fight, and the key is to minimize mistakes by keeping an eye on the spirits’ patterns.
As you deal more damage to Belloq, the Ark will become more aggressive. The cycle of its lid opening and closing will indicate a change in the pace of the battle. At this point, the Ark will begin releasing two spirits at once, making time and space management even more important. Despite this, your overall strategy doesn’t need to change: continue to focus on landing blows on Belloq while dodging the Ark’s attacks. Use every opportunity to attack, but always prioritize your safety.
After dealing enough damage, the Ark’s lid will close permanently, ending the battle. You will have defeated the boss, completing the saga of the first film and preparing for the next stages based on the other two films in the series.
Temple of Doom
Stage 13 – Club Obi-Wan
Your goal here is to make your way through the club and reach the vial of antidote waiting for you at the exit. The path, however, is full of obstacles, such as falling chandeliers, burning dinner carts, and Chinese gangsters ready to attack you. Every step counts, as a single mistake can drain almost your entire health.
As soon as the level begins, you’ll find a backpack of items in front of you. Punch it to grab the pistol. This will be your main resource for defending yourself from enemies. However, the biggest immediate danger comes from the floating crosshairs that appear on the screen. These targets will start following you, and once they lock onto you, they’ll fire a series of extremely powerful shots. If you’re left unprotected, there’s a good chance you’ll be eliminated quickly.
The key to survival is to use the furniture in your environment as cover. Pianos, tables, and other objects are your allies. As soon as you grab your pistol, immediately crouch down behind the nearest piano or table. Wait for the gunfire to stop and then run to the next cover point. As you do this, you will notice that the floating targets pause before firing, which is indicated by a slight wobble. Use this moment to move.
Early on, you’ll need to cross a relatively open space to reach the next piano. Along the way, a flaming dinner cart will be pushed towards you. Jump over it, but keep an eye out for targets. If they start shooting while you’re running, quickly change direction and jump to dodge the bullets. Once you reach the piano, use the left side of it for cover. Avoid standing in the center, as the chandelier above it could fall and the icy floor could cause Indy to slide out of cover.
Once you’ve left the piano, run to the next table. This spot is particularly tricky, as there are several traps in a row. A new chandelier is waiting to come crashing down on you, while another flaming dinner cart is coming your way. Jump over the cart, but be prepared to deal with one of Lao Che’s henchmen who appears carrying a Molotov cocktail. Get down on the ground immediately and start shooting with your pistol to eliminate him before he has a chance to throw the explosive. Once he’s defeated, wait for the crosshair to stop firing and move on to the next piano.
Luckily, this section is a bit more relaxed. There are no surprises around the piano, so you can use this time to breathe and prepare. From here, quickly run past three tables in a row. Keep your eyes peeled for targets and keep jumping over any flaming carts that appear. At the end of this section, you’ll find a long dining table that offers good cover.
In the final stretch, the path to the antidote is clear of immediate obstacles. As soon as the shooting stops, run straight to the vial without hesitation. This is your chance to successfully complete the level. Once you reach the antidote, the level ends.
Phase 14 – Shanghai Streets
The level begins with Indy falling onto the hood of a car and immediately being thrown onto the lower ledge of a building to the right. The first rule here is clear: stay off the streets whenever possible. The sidewalks are full of dangers, including armed Chinese gangsters and vintage cars that can run you over. However, if you do end up falling, you can still use the platforms on the building to the left to climb back up.
If you choose to explore the left side, you’ll find a few useful items, including a pistol on one of the lower platforms, as well as a heart, a grenade, and gems piled up on the roof. Be warned, though: there’s a henchman hiding on the higher platform, and another on the roof itself. They can be hard to spot if you’re not paying attention, so keep your whip ready as you climb.
Back on the right side, you’ll start by bouncing on ledges. Keep bouncing between them until you reach a platform on the right side of the building. From this platform, jump to the ledge to the left and above, but be quick: this ledge will collapse if you stay on it for too long. Climb up to the platform above to escape the collapse. While it may look interesting, a ledge on the right leads to a dead end, so ignore it and continue left.
Soon, you’ll come across another ledge that doesn’t bounce you off of, a sure sign that it will soon collapse as well. Don’t waste any time and keep climbing. At the top of the building to the left, you’ll find a grenade, and to the right, a platform with a backpack of items containing a whip. Grab the whip and use it to swing to the hook ahead, landing on a nearby rooftop. On this rooftop, collect the pistol and the gems, but watch out for the goon with a gun who’s off-screen. Shoot him before moving forward.
Below you on this rooftop are three armed Chinese gangsters. Each one attacks from a window on the right side of the building. On the left side, there’s a woman throwing wooden planks, but if you need some energy, there’s a heart below her. If you’d rather avoid these enemies, do a perfect jump to reach the next rooftop directly. This will allow you to escape the threats while collecting gems, a heart, and a grenade as a reward.
At the end of this rooftop, you’ll see a whip hook above and to the right. Before you swing across, two off-screen goons will be shooting at you. Use your pistol to take them out, even if you can’t see them right away. Once you’ve taken care of them, use your whip to swing up to the balcony where the first enemy was, and take out the second goon on the balcony just below.
From the balcony, jump to the next ledge on the right and start running along the ledges above three women throwing planks. On the last ledge, notice that it doesn’t bounce you, a sign that it will collapse in a few seconds. Be quick and use the whip on the hook ahead to swing to the next building. Run until you run off the screen, completing the level.
Phase 15 – Rafting Down the Himalayas
The mission here is simple: descend the path while avoiding trees, rocks and treacherous cracks in the ice. Although it is not the most difficult level, it requires attention and quick reflexes to overcome the obstacles.
As you begin your descent, you’ll notice that most obstacles are well spaced out, meaning there’s usually plenty of time to react. However, the real difficulty lies in predicting what’s coming, especially when jumping over a crevasse and landing directly on an obstacle that wasn’t visible before you jumped. This makes practice essential, as with trial and error you’ll start to memorize the patterns and positioning of the hazards.
There are two main types of jumps along the course: automatic and manual. When Indy’s boat hits a small hill covered in white snow, he will automatically launch into the air and you won’t need to do anything. However, if you encounter a hill with a beige rocky surface, you will need to perform the jump manually. Failing this jump will result in the boat falling into a crevasse, leading to an immediate game over. So pay close attention to the terrain textures to know when to act.
In addition to the gaps, there are plenty of other obstacles to avoid, such as trees and rocks scattered throughout the slope. The best strategy is to stay in the center of the track as much as possible, as this gives you more room to maneuver to either side. Getting too close to the edges can be dangerous, as the game doesn’t warn you when you’re on the edge, and you could end up stuck with no room to swerve.
Another important point is to always make sure there is a good distance between Indy and any obstacle. Even if it seems like you haven’t hit a tree or rock, the game may register a minor touch as a full collision, forcing you to restart your descent. So always try to avoid the obstacle with a wide margin of safety.
The level includes about 11 to 12 jumps, most of which are easy as long as you’re alert and reactive. However, the final jump is a little different. When you reach the last crevice, the game won’t let you make the jump. Instead, the boat will automatically slide into the crevice, ending the level.
Stage 16 – Pankot Palace
This level is a maze full of choices that lead to different paths. Your main goal is to find the correct path to access the mines. However, if you make a mistake, you’ll be taken back to the beginning of the maze. The good news is that the “wrong” areas are full of extra lives and gems, so exploring can be advantageous, especially if you need to accumulate resources.
As soon as the level starts, go left to grab the whip that is off-screen. Then, run right until you find the first statue. Push it a few steps to free the passage and enter the room that appears behind it. You are now officially inside the maze.
In the first room, there is a basket on the right. Push it and prepare to face a yellow Thuggee. Use the whip to quickly defeat him. Further ahead, you will see a statue and, behind it, an extra life. Jump over the statue to get the life, but be aware that this is not the correct path to proceed. If you decide to ignore the extra life, simply push the statue to open the next room.
In the next room, go directly to the right and you will find another basket. Here, the situation is similar to the previous one: you will see an extra life on the other side of a statue. If you use the basket to jump and grab the life, you will be taken back to the beginning of the level. So, if you want to follow the correct path, push the basket to the statue on the left. Jump over the statue and make sure to enter from its left side. This detail is crucial to progressing through the maze.
Now you’ve reached the final room. This area is similar to the previous one, but with a slightly higher difficulty level. There are two Thuggee enemies waiting for you: a yellow one and a red one. Use the whip to quickly eliminate them before continuing on. On the right side, there is another basket and another statue with an extra life visible behind it. Once again, picking up the life will take you to a path that restarts you. If you want to progress correctly, push the basket to the left, jump over the statue and enter from its left side.
By doing this you will have completed the stage.
Phase 17 – Caves of Pankot – Part 1
From the start, you’ll need to be aware of bats, Thuggees and floating platforms, as well as maneuver through narrow paths and face challenges that require precision.
As soon as the level starts, head down the slope and punch the cross icon to grab the whip, which will be your essential tool. Proceed carefully and take out the two bats flying around. Just ahead, you’ll see a grappling hook. Use the whip to swing up to an otherwise inaccessible area above. Once there, keep using the whip to defeat as many bats as you can before approaching the second grappling hook. Swing again and land on a stone platform above the lava river.
The next challenge involves a series of jumps across stone platforms. Jump to the next platform, which is located above a yellow Thuggee. Once you’re there, look for a hidden hook and use it to reach another platform, where you’ll find a heart that can restore some of your health.
You now have two route options: the higher path, which is easier but harder to access, or the lower path, which is more challenging but straightforward. To reach the higher path, you’ll need to use a trick: jump towards a flying bat and let the impact of the contact launch you a little higher, allowing you to reach the upper platform. If you can, eliminate the bats and the Thuggee in your path, and follow the mine trail where there are two hearts to restore your health before continuing.
If you choose to take the lower path or fall while attempting it, head to the next area. There, you’ll find a lava waterfall with a Thuggee throwing knives on the other side. Before you take him on, drop down to a floating platform below. Jump to the platform next to it, where a grenade is waiting, but watch out for the lava geyser. Stand on the left side of the platform to avoid the lava jet. Once he retreats, jump down to the main area.
You’ll come to a seemingly dead end, but there’s a narrow gap in the ground that Indy can roll through. Do so and continue on. On the other side, clear out the bats and be careful not to fall on top of another one. A Thuggee will be waiting to the left. Use the whip to defeat him before moving on.
Up ahead, there will be another narrow space to roll across. Cross it and use the floating platforms to cross a river of lava. Grab the heart on the next platform and roll across another narrow space to continue. Be prepared to deal with more bats and Thuggees. Wait for the Thuggees to turn around before attacking to avoid the knives they throw. Above one of the yellow Thuggees is a grappling hook. Use the whip to reach it and climb up to a platform with a cross icon containing a pistol. With the pistol in hand, you can take out the bats and even the Thuggee from a distance.
As you move forward, you’ll find more floating platforms over the lava. Jump carefully, avoiding the lava geysers that can hit you if you’re not careful. Once across, head up a slope as rocks start to fall. Despite the danger, there will be six hearts along the way to restore your health. At the top of the slope, you’ll find the end of the level.
Phase 18 – Caves of Pankot – Part 2
At the start, punch the cross icon to grab the whip. Use it immediately to take out the bat flying nearby. Up ahead, wait for the floating platform to get close enough for you to use it to cross the first lava pit. Once you reach the other side, use the whip to deal with more bats and head up the slope, where you’ll find your first kidnapped child. Rescuing her adds 500 points to your score.
Climb up to the next area, where there’s another kidnapped child and a heart waiting for you. Take out the bats above and prepare to face a spear-wielding Thuggee. Position yourself close enough that the spears will pass right over Indy, allowing you to safely attack him. There are two hearts and a grenade on the rock platforms above, but the jumps are challenging and infested with bats. Decide whether it’s worth the risk or moving on.
Below the mine tracks, there is a platform with a heart near the wall. Climb down carefully, but be prepared for a Thuggee and a swarm of bats. To save time and reduce the danger, throw a grenade to take them all out at once. As you descend further, you will find another kidnapped child. Continue along the lower path, but be careful of the rocks falling from the ceiling. When they hit the ground, they shatter into smaller pieces that are harder to avoid. Proceed carefully and rescue another child at the end of the path.
Ahead, you’ll see a Thuggee standing on an elevated rail, guarding another child. Use your whip to defeat him before rescuing the child. From there, jump to a rock on the left, which leads to the main mine tracks. In the right corner, above the last child you rescued, there’s a grenade that might come in handy. Continue up the tracks and head to the left side.
Here, you’ll find two hearts in a spot guarded by a knife-wielding Thuggee. He’s positioned so that he can hit you directly unless you’re crouched. Use a grenade to quickly eliminate him, then continue down the short path to collect two more hearts and a pistol, guarded by another Thuggee and falling rocks. Take out the enemy and collect the items before returning to the end of the track.
Head right until you reach a new area of falling rocks. Wait for the area to clear of debris and then jump forward. Use your whip to swing onto the hook ahead and land on a small platform where another kidnapped child is. Rescue her and climb up to the main area. As you move forward, clear out any bats in your path and be prepared to deal with the falling rocks, which leave little room to maneuver. Taking damage is almost inevitable here, so take advantage of the moments of temporary invulnerability after being hit to run forward. At the end of the path, you’ll find more hearts and another child to rescue.
On the upper level, continue clearing bats and avoiding the rocks. Pick up another heart and a grenade as you go. At the end of the path, there’s a Thuggee throwing knives. Duck into a safe corner and attack between throws until you defeat him. Follow the path until you reach a dead end in the tracks. From there, drop down to the bottom of the area, clearing the remaining bats. Once you reach the bottom, exit to the left to end the level.
Stage 19 – Mine Cart Chase
This level is a recreation of the iconic mine cart scene from Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom . Unlike other escape levels, such as the giant boulder or the Himalayan rafting, this one is more focused on action and precision. Your task is to control the mine cart as it descends through tracks full of twists and turns, facing enemies and activating the correct tracks to reach the end.
As soon as the level begins, you’ll find Indy in control of the cart, which moves automatically. His main tool is the pistol, which can be fired by holding down the Y button. This allows you to eliminate the enemies in the enemy carts that appear in your path. Keep your shots steady, as the Thuggees in the enemy carts aren’t particularly difficult to defeat, but it’s important to take them down quickly before they can attack you or hinder your progress.
Along the way, you’ll notice levers that control the mine tracks. These levers are essential to ensuring that you’re heading down the correct path. When you’re near one, aim carefully and shoot to activate the correct track. Here’s the catch, though: if you hit the same lever more than once, it will switch back and forth, potentially taking you down the wrong track. This means that when shooting, you’ll need to be precise and avoid overshooting when you’re approaching a lever. Once you’ve activated the desired track, focus back on the enemies ahead.
The level also requires constant attention, as enemies appear in groups and can be quick to attack. Keep your aim aligned with the tracks, as most of the enemy carts will be coming directly in front of you. This makes it easier to shoot, but it also means you have to be quick to switch between targeting the Thuggees and the levers. A good strategy is to anticipate the levers, watching for them on screen as soon as they appear, so you have time to adjust your shots.
In total, you’ll face around ten levers during the level. Each one is a small test of precision, but even if you make a mistake and choose the wrong track, there’s usually a chance to quickly correct yourself before the cart goes completely the wrong way. Stay calm and adjust your aim as needed.
After the tenth set of tracks, the cart will finally reach the end of the track and stop.
Phase 20 – Rope Bridge Showdown with Mola Ram
Although the scenario may seem chaotic at first glance, with an army of henchmen, flaming rocks and an unstable bridge, this is actually one of the easiest bosses in the game if you know how to deal with it.
At the very beginning of the level, Indy is positioned on the right side of the bridge. There is a backpack of items in front of him. Grab it to obtain the whip, which will be your main weapon against Mola Ram. Before moving forward, it is important to understand that the bridge is not stable and will begin to collapse if you stand still in a specific area for too long. Additionally, Mola Ram’s henchmen will jump onto the bridge to try and attack you in groups of two or three, while Mola Ram himself, on the other side of the bridge, throws flaming Sankara stones directly at you.
The trick to making this battle easier is to use the instability of the bridge to your advantage. Start moving forward and stop about halfway across the bridge. Stand still for a few moments to allow a good portion of the bridge, about four to six spaces, to collapse ahead. This will create a gap large enough to prevent Mola Ram’s henchmen from reaching you. This tactic will allow you to avoid having to worry about fighting the smaller enemies, allowing you to focus all your attention on the boss.
With the safe space created, jump from the ledge on the left side of the hole in the bridge towards the side where Mola Ram is. Once you land near him, attack him once with your whip and prepare to retreat. After being hit, Mola Ram will throw a flaming Sankara stone. As long as you start moving as soon as he throws it, the stone will pass right through you. Don’t try to land more than one hit in a single attack, as this increases the chances of the stone hitting you or the bridge completely collapsing beneath your feet.
After attacking him, jump back to the safe zone you created halfway across the bridge. Use this time to reposition yourself and plan your next attack. Repeat the process: jump to Mola Ram, land a hit with your whip, dodge the Sankara stone, and return to the safe area. This simple cycle is the key to defeating the boss efficiently and without too much risk.
Mola Ram will take about 12 hits to defeat. With each attack, stay calm and avoid rushing, making sure to always return to the safe zone between attacks. Once you’ve landed the final blow, all you need to do is survive for a few more seconds while the cutscene plays out. With that, the level will be completed.
Congratulations, you have defeated Mola Ram and completed the second film in the trilogy!
The Last Crusade
Phase 21 – Catacombs of Venice
Here, you’ll need to be quick, precise, and strategic to make your way through the flooded passages and face off against the members of the Brotherhood of the Cruciform Sword.
At the start, prepare for a long jump over a water pit. Aim to land on a pile of bones below. Carefully make your way to a small drop in the ground where there is a heart. Duck there, as a huge wall of fire will pass overhead. Once the fire has cleared, move forward and punch the nearby item container to get the whip. Jump over the rock ahead and continue to the next pile of bones.
Once you’re there, another wall of fire will appear. Wait patiently for it to pass, and when it’s safe, run to the edge, jump onto the floating coffin, and drop down the other side. Find another small drop in the ground and duck there for cover. After the fire passes, jump over the next chasm, landing on a narrow platform where a Brotherhood member is waiting to throw knives.
On this platform, stay on the far left side of the platform, crouching down, while attacking the enemy with your whip. This will ensure that you avoid both the knives and the next wall of fire that will appear. Once you defeat him and the fire has passed, move to the right side of the platform and use your whip to eliminate the rat that will be crawling just above. Climb up to where the rat was and crouch down again. Wait for the next Brotherhood member to approach and attack him when he is at a safe distance so that the knives don’t hit you.
With the enemy defeated, quickly make your way through the passage, jumping between the floating platforms until you find one that is low enough to protect you from another wall of fire. If you’re unsure, you can return to the previous platform and wait for the fire to pass before moving forward. Without the Brotherhood member to get in the way, you’ll have more time to calmly move to the next area.
After avoiding another wall of fire, continue running through the passage, collecting the gems scattered on the ground. When you reach a heart, immediately crouch down, as two walls of fire will pass in succession. Wait for both to disappear before continuing. Jump to the next dry platform, where there is another Brotherhood member waiting. Use the whip to defeat him, collect the grenade and nearby gems, and advance to the next platform, where you will find a rat. Eliminate it and continue down.
Soon, you’ll come across a grappling hook. Use your whip to swing across the chasm. Once you land on the other side, quickly jump into an underwater area to protect yourself from another wall of fire. From there, use the floating coffins to advance deeper into the catacombs. In the next main area, you’ll encounter another Brotherhood member. Defeat him with your whip, then roll into the rats to get rid of them.
With the path clear, continue forward until you exit the screen and complete the level.
Phase 22 – Castle Brunwald – Part 1
Early on, punch the item container to get the whip and head down the stairs. As you approach the fireplace, you’ll see a large Nazi soldier known as the Charging Nazi. This enemy has a peculiar pattern: he runs in the opposite direction when you approach or attack him. Use this to your advantage to avoid direct confrontation. Climb up the fireplace and jump to the next one, ignoring the Charging Nazi below. If you need health, there’s a heart in front of the second fireplace. Grab it and head down the hallway.
As you climb a short flight of stairs, you’ll encounter a regular Nazi soldier. Use your whip to quickly defeat him, then continue down the next flight of stairs. There’s another soldier waiting for you on the floor below. Decide whether you’d rather fight him or just jump over him to proceed to the next level.
On the next floor, climb two of the three stairs and eliminate the Nazi soldier walking above. At the top of the stairs leading down, there is an item container containing a heart. Grab it and head down the stairs. As you reach the next hallway, watch out for another Charging Nazi that appears off-screen. Jump at the right time to avoid it and continue to the end of the hallway to defeat a soldier. Go down one more level.
As you descend, you’ll find a fireplace with a heart and a container of items above. Grab the items, climb up the next fireplace, and collect the grenade. Return to the ground to face two patrolling Nazi soldiers. Defeat them with your whip and head up the next staircase. Before you go up, stop at the last step and attack the soldier ambushing you at the top. Continue down the hallway and collect the gems along the way. Wait for the soldier below to move away before dropping down to the next level.
On the lower floor, take out the soldier in plain sight, then a second one who will be crouched off-screen, ready to shoot. With the path clear, head down the stairs and collect the three hearts visible near the fireplace. Defeat the soldier guarding the area, then climb up the first fireplace. Use the whip on the hooks above to swing across the floor and reach a grenade at the end of the path. When you land, you’ll be at the top of a ladder with another heart waiting.
Head down again, where you’ll encounter another Charging Nazi. Run past the portrait on the wall and jump over the enemy. Be prepared to jump again when he returns, although there’s a chance you’ll get hit. Continue to the end of the hallway to face a soldier crouched near the stairs. Defeat him and follow the passage until you come across another soldier firing at an angle. Wait for him to pause his fire and jump to the opposite stairs. Drop down and attack the enemy to clear the path.
In the next area, keep an eye out for a soldier who blends into the background at the bottom of the stairs. Jump onto the fireplace and use the hooks with your whip to cross the floor again, avoiding another Charging Nazi. At the end of the path, you’ll find three hearts. Keep moving forward until the end of the hallway, where there are two more hearts to fully replenish your health before moving on.
In the final section, you’ll face another Charging Nazi after the fireplace. Since the ceiling is too low to jump, wait for him to run into the fireplace and use your whip to repeatedly attack him until he’s defeated. With the path clear, head down the hallway and defeat a soldier crouched at a point where the ceiling opens again. Climb up the next fireplace and jump across to the one after that, where you’ll find Dr. Henry Jones. He’ll say, “Junior!” before Indy runs off-screen, concluding the level.
Phase 23 – Castle Brunwald – Part 2
This stage is one of the most difficult in the game, as it introduces an element of urgency that forces you to keep up the pace and avoid lingering in any area. The castle’s massive windows can shatter at any moment, releasing bursts of fire that are difficult to avoid, especially when you’re in the air, swinging between the whip hooks. Here, the balance between speed and precision is key.
Once you take control of Indy, your first action will be to punch the item container to get the whip. This will be essential, as the level focuses on using the grappling hooks to swing between platforms. However, even with plenty of grappling hooks available, try to save time by jumping directly to the ones that are further away whenever possible. Just ahead, you’ll find a Nazi soldier at the end of the starting platform. Ignore him, jump over him, and use the first grappling hook to start swinging along the outer walls of the castle.
When swinging between hooks, remember that while he’s in mid-air, Indy is invulnerable. However, he’s vulnerable again in the brief moments between releasing from one hook and connecting with the next. This window of time can be dangerous, especially if there’s a window nearby that could shatter and release fire. To avoid unnecessary damage or death, focus on keeping your momentum going without hesitation between jumps.
Eventually, you’ll reach the next platform. There are two item containers here that contain pistols and a whip, but they’re not essential to progression. Unless you need to retrieve items or ammo, you can ignore them and keep running. Grab the hearts and grenade lined up along the way, jump over the Nazi soldier, and head to the next area.
As you progress, the platform will lower, and you’ll encounter a Charging Nazi. This enemy is best avoided rather than fought. Use one of the nearby hooks to swing over it, ensuring that you don’t waste any time or health trying to fight it directly. If you picked up a pistol earlier, be sure to switch to your whip before attempting to grab the hook, as the pistol cannot be used to connect to them.
Continue traversing the gaps between the platforms, using the grappling hooks strategically. At the next stopping point, you’ll encounter another Nazi soldier guarding hearts and another grenade. Defeat him with the whip and collect the items before jumping down to the last section.
On the final platform, another Charging Nazi will be waiting. This time, it’s recommended to defeat him, as there’s plenty of space and items available that you can pick up without too much risk. After eliminating him, collect the hearts, the third grenade, another pistol, and a bunch of gems that are lying around. This should ensure that you’re well prepared for the upcoming challenges. Once you have all the items, keep running and exit the screen to complete the level.
Phase 24 – No Ticket on the Zeppelin
In this stage, you’ll be inside an airship, where the goal is to cross the narrow corridors full of enemies until you reach the bottom right corner. With Nazi soldiers and mechanics throwing wrenches along the way, you’ll need agility and precision to reach the end.
As soon as the level begins, punch the item container to get the whip. This will be essential for dealing with the enemies you’ll encounter along the way. Start by running to the right and up the stairs ahead. Here, you can either jump over the first mechanic and ignore him, or fight him if you’d rather make sure he’s not a problem. Further up, take out two Nazi soldiers on a higher platform. Use the stairs to reach their level and continue to the right.
As you move forward, ignore the stairs leading up to the left and instead jump to a platform on the right. Continue forward until you come across a mechanic. Position yourself strategically, keeping yourself crouched at a safe distance, and use your whip to defeat him without getting hit by the wrenches he throws.
Up ahead, you’ll see a set of stairs leading up to an area with large green pipes. There’s a mechanic on top of the pipes. Take him out before exploring this section. Since you can’t jump directly onto the pipes, look for a crate guarded by a Nazi soldier on the left. Defeat the enemy, push the crate until it rests against the pipes, and use it as a platform to climb up.
After crossing the pipes, you’ll reach a spot with two ladders: one going up and one going down. Ignore both of them and head to the corner where there’s a pile of gems. Press down and the jump button (Down + B) to manually descend to a hidden area. There, you’ll find gems, hearts, and a grenade. A mechanic will be waiting to the left, so duck down and use the whip to defeat him before continuing.
Follow the platform to the left until you find another staircase leading down. There will be a Nazi soldier and a mechanic patrolling near the stairs. Take them out before heading down. Once you reach the lower level, you’ll find a short platform just above a larger area. Jump down and continue to the right, where you’ll find two more Nazi soldiers and a mechanic near another staircase. Use your whip to deal with them, collecting the heart in the corner before heading up the stairs.
As you climb up, take out another Nazi soldier at the top and drop down to a small platform with a grenade. Climb back up and use the next ladder on the left. At the top, you’ll find another mechanic on top of the green pipes. Stand on the edge of the pipes and attack while crouched so that the wrenches pass over Indy.
Follow the pipes to the right, jumping when necessary. At the end, drop straight down and attack the Nazi soldier waiting below. You’ll see a small section of green pipes jutting out in the corner with a heart and gems. Grab the items and prepare for the final jump.
The level exit is just below this area. Carefully jump down to the next lower level, collect any remaining items, and run to the right to complete the level.
Stage 25 – Biplane Dogfight
Here your objective is to shoot down 20 enemy planes to complete the level.
As soon as the level begins, you will notice two or three enemy fighters coming towards you. It is important to know that you cannot take them all down at once without taking damage. Therefore, the key here is to survive and choose the right moments to attack. The first thing you should do is to get your biplane to the bottom of the screen. This position is crucial, as enemy fighters cannot hit you directly when you are flying at the lowest point.
While at the bottom of the screen, start flying in circles. This will cause enemies to pass you by without being able to land their shots. Watch for fighters in the distance: they appear as small gray dots and gradually grow larger as they get closer. This window of time before the enemies start shooting is your opportunity to identify which fighter is isolated and safe to attack.
The main trick of this level is to be methodical. Don’t try to take out multiple enemies at once, as this increases the risk of getting hit and downed. Instead, focus on one enemy at a time. When you notice that one of the fighters is not protected by the others that are already firing, move up from the bottom of the screen, line up your shot, and quickly take it down. Once the enemy is destroyed, immediately return to the bottom of the screen and resume the circular flight pattern. This drastically reduces the chances of getting hit.
Enemies will only fire a few seconds after they enter the screen, so it’s essential to act quickly when climbing up to attack them. At the same time, always keep an eye on the number of visible enemies. If there are too many fighters at once, it’s safer to continue flying in circles at the bottom of the screen until the situation is more under control.
This level requires patience above all else. It’s not about how quickly you can take down all 20 fighters, but rather about avoiding damage while working towards your goal. By following this methodical pattern of attack and retreat, you’ll gradually reduce the number of enemies and complete the level without much difficulty.
Phase 26 – Desert of Iskenderun
At the start, grab the whip from the item container and head down the path. Collect the gems along the way and jump over the small hole to get the heart shortly after. You’ll encounter the first Brotherhood member at the top of a slight slope. Duck to avoid his knives and attack with the whip to quickly eliminate him. As you descend the steep slope ahead, be prepared for an attack from four Brotherhood members at once. This is one of the most difficult points in the level. If you have grenades, this is the time to use them. Wait until two or more are close together and throw a grenade to take them out efficiently. If you don’t have grenades, try to group them together and jump over them, although this does involve the risk of getting hit by their knives.
At the end of the descent, you’ll find two hearts, one on each side of the valley, and two Nazi soldiers ready to attack you. Use the whip to defeat the Nazis and retrieve the hearts to restore your health if needed. Continue forward and find another Brotherhood member, taking him out with the whip before continuing on. Next, you’ll come across another hole, this time with an enemy on the other side. Watch the knife throwing pattern and once you find an opening, jump to the other side and defeat him.
As you descend the next slope, collect the gems scattered across the ground and prepare for the confrontation with the mini-boss, Colonel Vogel, on a moving tank.
CHIEF: Colonel Vogel
This battle takes place as you fight atop a moving tank that is dangerously advancing towards a cliff. The goal is to defeat Colonel Vogel before the tank reaches the end of the track. An icon will appear indicating that you must use only your fists to fight him.
The hardest part of this fight is staying in the tank, as you’ll be fighting on moving tracks. The best strategy is to jump to the back of the tank and let the tracks carry you forward. While you’re moving, take advantage of this to land quick strikes on Colonel Vogel as you pass him. Once you slide off the front of the tank, immediately jump back to the back and repeat the process.
Keep an eye on the miniature tank at the bottom of the screen, which indicates how close you are to the cliff. While it may seem like a race against time, Colonel Vogel isn’t as tough as he seems. Just five or six well-placed punches will be enough to defeat him.
After defeating Colonel Vogel, you will have completed the stage.
Phase 27 – The Temple of the Holy Grail
At the very beginning, grab the whip from the item container in front of you. Wait for the first stone pillar to rise and run under it. Repeat the same tactic on the second pillar. A little further ahead, a large boulder will fall towards you. Stand close to the pillar and let the boulder fall, safely passing behind it. The next obstacle is a series of blades that pop out of the ground. Wait for them to recede and roll under them, but immediately jump to stop them from moving, as another boulder will fall right after.
Keep moving forward and approach another boulder, causing it to fall before moving on. Up ahead, you’ll encounter a Brotherhood member. He’ll be throwing knives, so crouch down to avoid his attacks and use your whip to defeat him. Jump to the other side of the platform, where another boulder will fall. Be prepared to pass three traps in a row: two vertical spikes and a spinning blade. They’re spaced far enough apart that you can pause between them. Be careful, as another Brotherhood member will start throwing knives from off-screen as you try to cross. Crouch down next to the pillar and take him out before moving on.
The next challenge consists of four spinning blades in a row. These blades are not synchronized, so you will need to be precise. Wait for the first blade to recede, run to where it was, and as soon as the next one starts to recede, jump to the next safe space. Repeat this pattern until you have crossed all the blades. Run quickly to avoid two falling rocks and continue on.
Now, you’ll face two blades coming down from the ceiling. This space is too low to run, so wait for the blades to come up and roll under them. Grab the gems and hearts scattered along the way while dodging more falling rocks and ducking under another stone pillar. Then, use your whip to swing from one hook to the other. If you jump well, you’ll only need to use the first hook.
As you climb a slope, you’ll encounter another Brotherhood member. Defeat him while crouching to avoid his knives. Continue down, passing through blade traps and spikes while taking out enemies along the way. There’s a tricky section with three spinning blades and spikes between them. Carefully jump over each trap, grabbing the heart at the end. Be prepared to traverse a series of small platforms with falling spikes and rocks. Keep up the rhythm, jumping from one platform to the next without stopping to time your movements with the spikes retracting.
Once you reach the main area, go under another stone pillar, taking out the nearby enemy while dodging two spikes. Keep moving forward, jumping over more spikes and passing through pillars. At one point, you’ll come across a wall with a narrow gap. Roll under it and be ready to avoid a knife from an enemy right after it. Use the background of the screen as a reference: by standing next to a brown pillar, you can protect yourself from both the knives and a falling rock.
At the end of the level, you’ll face another slope with a boulder and an enemy at the top. Crouch at the base, defeat the enemy, and continue forward. Another combination of blades and rocks awaits you, so trigger the boulder to fall before continuing. Finally, jump to a platform with a heart and eliminate the final enemy while dodging his knives. Continue past traps until you reach the final stone pillar and climb the slope to complete the level.
Phase 28 – Inside the Grail Room with Walter Donovan
As soon as the level begins, you’ll see Donovan standing in the center of the room, seemingly motionless. Take advantage of this brief moment of calm to punch the nearby item container and grab the whip. Don’t attack him right away; use this time to watch his movements. Donovan will soon perform his first maneuver: he’ll roll his head across the floor toward you. Jump to avoid it, but be careful as it will come back at you like a boomerang. After dodging it twice, position yourself next to Donovan and crouch down. He’ll jump over you, giving you a chance to reposition yourself. After two jumps, he’ll stop near the knight at the other end of the room.
From there, Donovan will alternate between different attacks. One of them is to throw bones at you. These projectiles will arc in the direction of your target, something you’ve seen from other enemies throughout the game, such as the zeppelin mechanics or the Brotherhood members. Use what you’ve learned from these encounters to easily dodge them, taking advantage of any opening to get close and hit Donovan with the whip.
Another attack Donovan will use involves splitting his entire skeleton apart, causing his bones to rapidly spin around the center of the room like a storm of fragments. When this happens, run to the center of the space and stay there as the bones spin around you. Once the skeleton begins to reform, roll away from the central area to avoid taking damage. Once he’s reformed, Donovan will either jump around the room again or use another of his attacks.
The biggest challenge in this fight is avoiding Donovan as he leaps around the room. His jumps are unpredictable and he can easily crash into you. To avoid this, position yourself in one of the corners of the room and watch his movements. When he’s about to land near you, jump or roll to get away. This simple pattern of moving to the corners and reacting to his jump is an effective way to avoid taking damage.
The fight requires patience and consistency. The key is to only attack when Donovan is vulnerable—particularly when he’s throwing his head or bones. Avoid trying to attack him while he’s jumping, as this is too risky and can result in unnecessary damage. Keep hitting him with the whip whenever a clear opportunity presents itself. About a dozen successful strikes should be enough to defeat the skeleton Walter Donovan once and for all.
When Donovan finally falls, the Grail will be safe, and you will have completed the third and final film in the adventure.
Congratulations, you have completed this wonderful Indiana Jones game; relax and enjoy the end of the game!
