Perseverance is the antidote to nihilism

Mortal Shell: The Virtuous Cycle is an expansion for Mortal Shell that turns the game into the “roguelike” genre, where all shell abilities and weapon improvements made in the base game are not reused. Only item familiarities are used from the base game. This is a great opportunity to familiarize yourself with items that don’t have maximum familiarity in the base game. Here’s the Mortal Shell Platinum Guide , if you haven’t already.

Unlike the base game, here you have to start a play from scratch and evolve as you obtain the attributes in the pillars throughout the map to become stronger, and if you die, you start everything over from scratch and you will have to repeat the process again until you detonate the game. To complete this expansion you must defeat the three bosses from the base game and the last bosses, which are the four carcasses that exist in the base game.

You have to beat the game 7 times because of the TrueNektar Trophy , which consists of delivering all 7 seeds.

IMPORTANT TIPS:

  • First of all, get Harden’s Casing and Axatana. To unlock them, just use the pillar once with all the carcasses and weapons, then just die or start a new click.
  • Use the apelão combo (hold O + R2 with the katanas).
  • The area order that I consider the best to do is: Crypt of the Martyrs, Throne of Infinity and Sanctuary of Ashes.
  • For the first game, get Eredrim’s familiarity (kill 5 Grisha), as this unlocks a bonus of starting with +20 damage, which will make the first detonation easier.
  • Invest your Glimpse in the “Tare Reserve”, because when you die, all the tar you had will remain.
  • Invest your tar however you want, as all bonuses are good.
  • Collect as many Instincts as possible to make the journey easier.
  • Buy the Mechanical Lute, as it gives you a chance when you lose the shell (very useful in the final stretch).
  • Use and abuse parrying, kicks and badges. I recommend leaving the badges when you are with the Poor Child.
  • When you realize that you are going to die, you can leave the game through “options” and then return, starting at the beginning of the area. Life will be the same as when you left.
  • Make a backup of your “save” whenever you feel necessary, because if you die, all progress will be lost and you will have to start everything from scratch. I recommend backing up at the beginning of an area and before the last bosses.

TheAnswer – Fully max out Harden’s skill tree

This is only done in the base game, as there is no way to upgrade the carcasses in the DLC. This costs a minimum of 21,100 tar and 123 glimpses.

SomeAssemblyRequired – Transform Axatana between different modes

First you must defeat Harden who is sitting on the ground in the Tower of Fallgrim, once this is done take the Axatana and press L1 + R1.

Seedbearer – Return your first seed to the Twin Sister

After defeating all the bosses for the first time you will earn a seed that must be returned to the Twin Sister. Equip Harden’s Husband downstairs and return it to earn another trophy.

ChangeOfHeart – Return a seed with Hadern in Virtuous Cycle

Only missable. After defeating all the bosses you will be teleported to the Tower of Fallgrim, from there you need to go down to the bottom floor and equip Harden and then talk to the Twin Sister. It must be done once before resetting the 7 times!

OPAF – Acquire 100 instincts in one cycle

This should come naturally during one of the 7 plays you will face. Just touch as many pillars as possible.

MasterOfNone – Acquire all 4 weapon Instincts for Axatana

It should also come naturally together with OPAF. Touch maximum pillars.

GatewayDrug – Spend 100,000 tar on Virtuous Cycle

Tar must be spent at the Rune Gate which is next to the Twin Sister in the Tower of Fallgrim (before starting a cycle) and also appears after defeating a boss. It may seem like a bit of work but throughout the 7 plays you will earn many items that provide Tar, so it’s not difficult. Buying the lutes does not count towards the trophy.

LuteHero – Maximum familiarity with all lutes in the game

There are 3 lutes in this DLC, however, 2 of them are from the base game and you probably already have them. The only new Lute is called the Mechanical Lute and costs 70,000 Tar and can only be used once in each cycle, but you can use it once and then die or start a new cycle.

ThereCanBeOnlyOne – Beat all Corrupted Husks variations in Virtuous Cycle

This consists of defeating the final bosses so that the LAST boss is different, that is, four enemies that must be different at the end. To program the latter you need to use specific seeds, such as:

Harros: 767553

Eredrim: 720864

Solomon: 832720

Tiel: 185744

FashionShells – Unlock all Shell Shades in the Virtuoso Cycle

This consists of obtaining maximum familiarity with all carcasses. When you manage to complete a familiarity objective for a certain carcass, it gains a bonus and changes its appearance.

No need to max out weapon familiarities!

-Kill Grisha 5 times (bonus: starts with Damage +20) – Seed: 195573 – Just die or start a new click to kill the same Grisha.

Harros:

-Kill 60 bandits (bonus: starts with Tar Occurrence Instinct +20 and with 10,000 more Tar, which is lost after dying) – Kill people in Fallgrim.

-Kill Vim 5 times (bonus: has +10% chance of finding Solidify and Kick Instincts) – Seed: 767553 – Vim is the miniboss found in the Sanctuary of Ashes, you can access it for free by getting the instincts or buy the entrance which costs 5,000 tar.

-Complete a cycle (bonus: starts with Unbreakable Instinct).

Poor child:

NoLifer – Complete a cycle in The Virtuous Cycle with the Obsidian Form

To unlock the Obsidian Form you must complete a cycle once using the Poor Child Carcass. It seems difficult, but no, you get a lot of health and stamina on the pillars.

TrueNektar – Return all seeds to the Twin Sister and break the Virtuous Cycle

This consists of completing a cycle with all the Carcasses once, that is: Harden, Eredrim, Solomon, Harros, Tiel, Poor Child and Poor Obsidian Form Child. The obisidan form is unlocked after completing a cycle with the Poor Child.
