Paper Mario – Complete Walkthrough (Step by Step Guide)

Paper Mario – Complete Walkthrough (Step by Step Guide)

April 6, 2024 Off By Markus Norat

Prologue

At the beginning, Mario and Luigi receive an invitation letter to a party organized by Princess Peach. They are then guided to Toad Town, Princess Peach’s castle residence. Here, the most efficient strategy is to get straight to the point, without wasting time on conversations or distractions. The objective is to go up the stairs and head towards the throne room, where Peach is waiting.

However, the joyous celebration quickly turns into chaos. An earthquake rocks the castle, and an imposing fortress, belonging to the feared Bowser, emerges from beneath Peach’s castle, taking him into space. It is at this moment that Bowser makes his triumphant entrance, challenging Mario to a fight. Unfortunately, at this stage of the game, there is no way to win this battle.

After being defeated, Mario is thrown back to Earth. He is found in a sorry state, but receives help from the Star Spirits. Additionally, a group of friendly Goombas find him and provide assistance.

Once recovered, Mario wakes up in the Goomba village, where the real mission begins. The first step is to go in search of items. To do this, you need to explore all the surrounding bushes and talk to all the local Goombas. At this point, it becomes clear that many challenges await Mario on his journey to rescue Princess Peach from Bowser.

The first obstacle that appears is a damaged gate. To resolve this situation, Mario must enter Goomba’s house, go out the back door and talk to old Goomba on the porch. He will find that the gate has been repaired. However, this achievement is brief, as Kammy Koopa, in an act of mischief, throws a giant block at the gate, blocking Mario’s path once again.

To proceed, Mario must locate Goomba’s grandfather Goompa’s hammer, which is on the back porch. But when trying to leave through the back door of the Goomba’s house, Mario notices that the balcony has disappeared, causing him to fall to the ground. Near this location, he finds Goompa, who suggests looking for the hammer.

The hammer is hidden in the area to the west. Mario must search all the bushes, and finally, in the leftmost bush, he finds the hammer. With this tool, Mario acquires the ability to break objects and knock items down from trees. Furthermore, in this same area, he finds a Princess Peach doll, nicknamed “Dolly”, which is hidden in one of the three trees. By hitting the correct log with the hammer, Mario is able to recover Dolly.

When he tries to leave the area, Mario is confronted by Master Jr. Troopa. The most effective strategy against him is to just use the hammer attack, as Master Jr. Troopa’s eggshell protects him against jumping attacks.

On the way back to Goomba Village, it is crucial that Mario explores all the items in the trees and on the edges. For example, he can jump onto a nearby jumping pad and collect his first Fire Flower item from the edge. Additionally, your first Star Piece can be found at the end of the upper ledge where some Goombas are located.

Upon returning to Goomba Village, the entire Goomba family welcomes Mario. If he managed to knock Dolly out of the tree, Goombaria will ask for the doll back. In gratitude, she presents Mario with a Star Piece and a kiss!

After this episode, the conversation continues and Mario receives a Power Jump Badge from Goompa. And, after much insistence, Goombario, Mario’s biggest fan, joins the adventure. Now, with a new team member and the Power Jump Badge, Mario is ready to go. He needs to break the large block blocking his path and head east.

The journey is not without dangers. The moment Mario reads the first sign (with the image of a Goomba), a Goomba jumps towards him. He must stay alert. Mario can collect the Close Call Badge from the red question mark block. He must equip it immediately. The road sign shows a picture of a mushroom, and if Mario reads it, the item will fall so he can pick it up. Moving forward, he encounters the Goomba Bros., who are ready to fight.

Next you will face the Goomba Bros, a pair of brothers, one red and one blue. The red Goomba has a total of 7 HP points, with an attack power of 1 and a defense power of 0. The blue Goomba has 6 HP points, with the same attack and defense power as its brother. The Blue Goomba, having less HP than the Red, should be your first target. The strategy is to focus all attacks on him before moving on to the Red Goomba. If, during the fight, your HP reaches 2, it is highly advisable to heal yourself using a mushroom. After the battle, go back and upgrade your heart points by hitting the heart block to restore your health.

However, the fight with the Goomba Bros is just the beginning. A complicated sign awaits you. At first it may look like he is holding a mushroom, but don’t be fooled as he will jump at you like a Goomba. The real threat is King Goomba who is at the front, furious at the defeat of his assistants. The Goomba King has 10 HP, with an attack power of 1 and a defense of 0. The effective strategy here is to eliminate the Goomba brothers first before facing the king. If you still have the fire flower, use it first. This will hit all characters and eliminate the Goomba Bros. With them out of the way, the king shouldn’t be much of a concern. Use your special power jumps to speed up the process of defeating him.

After the fight, if you have collected enough star points, you will have the option to level up. You can choose between increasing your HP by 5, your FP by 5, or your Badge Points (BP) by 3. Considering that your attack power is still relatively low, it is advisable to increase your FP so that you can deal more damage with your special moves.

After leaving King Goomba’s fortress, look for a bush. Search it and you will find a blue switch. Press it to continue. However, before leaving, try hitting the tree in front of King Goomba’s fortress with your hammer. A star piece will fall out of it.

As you go down the next set of ledges, be sure to go back to the bottom and grab the sleepy sheep item in the question mark box. Near the entrance to Frog City, you will pass a pavilion. If you pay attention, there is a jumping platform on the tree ahead. Use your hammer to knock it down. You can use it to climb to the roof of the pavilion, where you will find a treasure chest containing the hammer throwing badge.

In Frog City, you have the option to go back and fight the enemies again to earn more star points. This is a recommended strategy before moving on to new areas. Due to the city’s proximity to the areas, you can return to heal at Toad’s house for free. Therefore, even in difficult situations, you can continue to earn more gold coins and star points.

Once in town, you can return to Goomba Village and find Chuck Quizmo, a worm character with a purple hat, waiting for you to the left of the Goomba’s house. He offers a test and if you pass you will win a star piece. Save before taking the test. If you get the answer wrong, you can reset and try again. The question he asks is: “What is the name of Goombario’s younger sister?” The answer is: “Goombaria”.

When you arrive at Frog City, don’t hesitate to go down the green pipe near the entrance to visit Luigi and Mario’s house. Here you can check your stats, recover if necessary, and even check your mail. Then it is recommended to spend some of your hard-earned money. Stock up on plenty of firepower and items like honey to refresh your Flower Power. After that, head north through the giant blue gate with a star icon, and then go east, where stars will start falling from the sky.

You will find two paths. The lower path leads to Murluvee, the seer. She can tell secrets for a price. On the upper path, above Murluvee, you can find her brother, Merlow, who will exchange badges for star parts. The highest path leads to Shooting Star Summit.

At the top of the mountain, you will find the 7 Star Spirits. Talking to them will result in you obtaining the Lucky Star Pendant, which allows you to use the action command. Back in town, before heading back, you’ll encounter an evil Magikoopa looking for trouble.

Magikoopa is the next boss and has a total of 8 HP, with an attack power of 3 and a defense of 0. Use his power jump in combination with his new action command to defeat him easily.

After the battle, visit Merlon in his house with the rotating roof. He will try to ignore you, so knock twice. He will tell you to go east to Koopa Village, but when you try, you will find four frogs blocking your way. Return to Merlon for more help. Stand next to him, not in front of his crystal ball, and he’ll take care of his enemies.

As always, there are more things to do in each city you visit, so don’t rush. This all gives you an idea of the amount of exploration this game involves. You’ll want to come back from time to time to check things out.

Chapter 1 – Storming Koopa Bros. Fortress (Chapter 1 – Storming the Koopa Brothers’ Fortress)

As Mario embarks on his journey, he soon comes across an obstacle – an insurmountable gap blocks the way. A nearby tree offers a solution. When you hit it with the hammer, a blue switch falls out. Stepping on it triggers a bridge to lower, allowing Mario to continue.

However, a seemingly insurmountable challenge arises – an inaccessible star piece on an isolated island. However, there is no need to worry as this riddle can only be solved later in the game. Ignoring this obstacle, Mario continues, arriving at a directional indicator that points to two destinations – the Koopa Bros. Fortress. and Koopa Village. He decides to visit Koopa Village first.

Along the way, Mario finds a dazzling badge, the Attack FX B, hidden in an intriguing puzzle. Three blocks of bricks, suspiciously arranged in the shape of a triangle, hide the prize. When you hit the blocks in the correct order – left, right and, finally, the middle block – a red question block appears, releasing the badge.

Arriving at Koopa Village, Mario learns about the infestation of Fuzzies that are disturbing the townspeople. A particularly mischievous Fuzzy steals a Koopa’s shell, triggering Mario’s first mission in the village – retrieving the Koopa’s shell. After a few moments of chase and strategic maneuvering, the shell is recovered and the first mission is complete. However, Koopa Village is still infested with Fuzzies.

As he explores the village, Mario finds various tasks and puzzles to solve. He discovers a nasty Fuzzy who stole the shell from Kooper, a resident of the village. Mario needs to chase Fuzzy through the city, in a search that culminates in a series of trees. After a game of hide and seek, Fuzzy reluctantly returns the shell and Kooper joins Mario’s group.

A final confrontation with a swarm of Fuzzies occurs. Mario and Kooper use their combined abilities to dispatch the Fuzzies. After dealing with the Fuzzies infestation, Mario and Kooper continue to explore the village. They find a badge on top of a stump, but it’s out of reach. However, with the help of Kooper’s shell throwing, Mario is able to recover the badge.

Koopa Koot, an old Koopa, asks Mario to retrieve a book from Kolorado’s house. This quest takes Mario back to Frog Town and back to the village again, resulting in a tiny reward, but one with long-term value – a Silver Credit.

With all tasks in Koopa Village complete, Mario and Kooper set their sights on the Koopa Brothers’ Fortress. They face a series of challenges and puzzles along the way, using their skills to solve each one. The pair make full use of Kooper’s shell throwing abilities and Bombette’s explosive abilities, which they find in the fortress.

After fighting the Koopa Brothers, Mario and his team find themselves in the final confrontation. They have to dodge a barrage of bullets from Bullet Bill and attack Blaster Bill’s cannons. With the help of the Maple Syrup recovered earlier, the team replenishes their FP and prepares for the final confrontation.

From now on you will have to face some challenges and bosses, each one with its own peculiarities and coping methods. In addition, there will be several opportunities to explore new locations, improve your skills and acquire new items. Pay attention to the following details:

Firstly, you will encounter the boss Cannons Bill Blaster. This opponent has 4 life points (HP), but his attack is zero and his defense is 1 point. As it is made of steel, you cannot jump over it. The Bill Blaster Cannons attack with their Bullet Bills, which have 2 HP and must be eliminated first. After getting rid of the Bullet Bills, take advantage of the opening to attack the real cannons with your hammer or Bombette’s melee attack. Use as many Flower Points (FP) as you want, as after the battle, there will be opportunities to replenish your energy.

Next, you will face the Koopa Bros. in the form of Fake Bowser. This one has 10 HP and 1 point for both attack and defense. Avoid jumping on him as it doesn’t hurt him. Instead, use hammer, bomb or projectile attacks, or even a Fire Flower if you have one available. Upon defeating Fake Bowser, the Koopa Bros. attack in tower formation. Each has 6 HP and an attack power of 4. Use your hammer and a bomb attack to knock them off balance and make them fall. Then use Kooper’s special projectile attack to hit them in the back. When they get up, use a POW item to knock them back down. Continue with this strategy until you defeat them.

At the end of the chapter, the narrative moves to Princess Peach’s castle. This section is playable and the objective is to find an escape route from Princess Peach’s room. There is a switch hidden behind a picture to the right of the fireplace that reveals a secret hallway. At the end of the hallway, press another button and discover King Koopa’s diary, where it is revealed that the next Star Spirit is located in the Dry Dry Ruins. Soon after discovering this information, you will be captured by King Koopa, but not before Twink delivers this crucial information to Mario.

After this interlude, the journey continues in Toad Town. Here, you will be challenged again by Master Koopa Troopa. It has 15 HP, with an attack power of 2 and defense of 1. Master Koopa Troopa can completely close its shell, making it immune to some types of attacks. Use Bombette and her hammer to attack him. Your strategy in this confrontation should simply be to deal as much damage as possible until he is defeated.

In Toad Town, there are several activities available. Firstly, you will be able to buy badges in the Badge Shop. Available badges include Multibounce Badge, First Attack Badge, and Speedy Spin Badge, each providing a unique ability. As you purchase badges, the store replenishes stock with new items.

Next, explore the southern part of the city, where you’ll encounter a curious individual named Chet Rippo. It offers the possibility to change your statistics for 39 coins. However, this “service” offers no real benefit, it just redistributes the points among your statistics.

East of Chet Rippo, you’ll find a sewer system that’s a good place to gain experience, yielding six star points per battle. At the end of the sewer, you will face a squid called Blooper. Defeating her and opening the treasure chest behind her grants you the Shrink Stomp Badge.

Returning to town, a Bub-ulb will give you a magic seed, which you can give to Mihn T. to plant in his garden. It is one of four seeds required to unlock a reward.

The last part of this chapter takes place at the town’s train station, where you will discover that the path is blocked by a large boulder. Use Bombette to blow up the rock and clear the path for the train. The train will take you to Mt. Rugged, which is your next destination in the search for the Star Spirit in the Dry Dry Ruins.

Chapter 2 – The Mystery of Dry Dry Ruins

In Chapter 2 – The Mystery of the Dry Ruins, in the game Paper Mario (for the Nintendo 64), you will have to navigate a series of challenges and riddles on an adventure to help Parakarry recover his lost letters and unlock the secrets of the desert.

Upon reaching the base of Mt. Rugged, the first task is to find Parakarry, the mail delivery man from Toad Town. He lost some letters on the mountain, and needs his help to get them back. On his quest, you will encounter various creatures and collect valuable items.

As you explore, try to interact with the Whackas that emerge from the ground. If you hit one with your hammer, it will give you a Whacka Bump item that recharges 25 HP and 25 FP, a good reward for the effort.

Proceed east of the mountain, where you will find Parakarry’s first letter on a ledge. Use Kooper’s shell attack to get it. Parakarry will inform you that there are still two letters left, so continue climbing in search of them. Remember to pick up the Star Piece near the second arch opening in the mountain and collect the treasures along the way, including the Damage Dodge Badge.

With Parakarry joining your party after finding all the cards, you can now access areas that were previously out of reach. Use Parakarry’s abilities to get the Hammer Badge on top of a ledge and the star piece on the jump pad. Additionally, Parakarry can help you cross the gap to talk to Bub-ulb, who will give you another magic seed.

When facing Buzzar the Vulture at the top of the mountain, use Parakarry’s special projectile attack and his energy jump to knock him down. If you prefer, you can avoid the battle entirely if you impersonate Luigi.

In the dry and dry desert, you will find more challenges and mysteries. First, look for a letter from Parakarry in the tree below the sign indicating Dry Dry Outpost. Additionally, you can find the Attack FX C Badge in the southwest of the stone cactus and the Spin Attack Badge near blue cacti. Don’t forget to visit the Oasis south of Dry Dry Outpost, where you can find a Super Block to upgrade one of your party members.

In the town of Dry Dry Outpost, look for Chuck Quizmo and participate in his quiz to win a Star Piece. Merlee is also nearby, and for a price, she will cast a beneficial spell on you. Be sure to give the green-robed Mouser a lemon to find out how to find Moustafa, the local leader.

Follow Mouser’s instructions to find Moustafa: buy a Dried Shroom and a Dusty Hammer from the shop in town. Moustafa, in gratitude for her help, will give you the Pulse Stone, which will flash faster the closer you are to the Dry Dry Ruins.

When leaving Dry Dry Outpost and venturing into the desert, head north until you can’t go any further, and then west. When the Pulse Stone starts pulsing rapidly, you will be close to the Dry Dry Ruins. Place the Pulse Stone on a lone rock with a notch in it and watch the Desert Ruins rise from the sand.

Continuing on, we reach the second room of the Dry Desert Ruins. This mysterious and intriguing location is full of sarcophagi, revealing valuable treasures, such as the Spike Shield Badge located in the second sarcophagus, a precious tool that allows Mario to jump over spiked enemies without taking damage. However, to move forward, we must understand and decipher the mechanisms and complexities of the site.

In one corner of the room, we found a set of stairs, leading up and down. At this point, we chose to go up. At the top, we step on a block that triggers a flow of sand, filling the room below and revealing a previously inaccessible door. Going down the stairs, we now have access to this door, taking us to a new room. At this point, we climb the available ladder and find ourselves in front of a gap that leads to a platform next to a crack in the wall. To cross the gap, we use Parakarry’s ability and, upon reaching the platform, we use Bombette to open the way through the crack in the wall.

In yet another room, we find another block to hit, which empties the accumulated sand, revealing a shiny object in the corner – a Star Piece. This action also reveals the Ruins Key in the newly sand-filled room. With the key in hand, we head to the door at the end of the stairs, continuing the journey. When going through the door, we walk to the end of the room and hit a yellow block, which awakens three enemies that must be defeated to obtain another Key to the Ruins. With the second key in hand, we proceed through the adjacent door.

In our continued exploration, we let Parakarry lead us through yet another gap, arriving in a room that houses a set of stairs and switches, colored in harmony. We must first jump on the green cushions to reach the highest point. Heading left, we hit the red block once. Starting at the bottom, we repeat the action on the green pads to return to the top, this time finding the correctly directed red ladder.

Reaching the set of stone stairs leading to a hole in the floor, we hugged the wall, falling onto a thin ledge. We followed it to the end and found a huge chest containing the Super Hammer. This tool is a real godsend, as it allows us to break large silver blocks.

With the Super Hammer in hand, we return to the beginning, where we find a silver block protecting a golden artifact. By using the hammer to break the block, we finally reach the artifact. Next door we find a treasure room with another silver block. Breaking this block, Stone Chomps emerge from the wall, ready for battle.

When facing Stone Chomps, keep in mind that they have 4 HP, 3 Attack Power and 1 Defense Power. It’s important to note that jumping over them is not an option, so hammer attacks should be your main strategy. After beating them, we conquered the Pyramid Stone.

Continuing through the lower part of the Ruins, we find a crack in the wall, one floor above where we placed the stones. In front of this room, we find the crack in the wall, which when exploded reveals a descent. At the end, we find a Super Block that allows another member of our group to upgrade. Next to this Super Block, we find another crack in the wall, which when exploded reveals a diamond-shaped stone.

Advancing along a path to the right of the Super Block, we enter a dark, low-ceilinged corridor, where we find a map showing the location of four stones, indicating our current position with a red arrow. Continuing right, we come to a room where a key hangs on a ledge, with a splinter block in the same room. Smashing this block with the hammer reveals a red switch that forms stairs on the wall, allowing us to reach in and grab the key.

With the key in hand, we return and unlock the door to the room with six Chomp statues. Crossing this room, we find a red button that, when pressed, empties the sand in the room, revealing a pattern for placing the stones. According to the standard, the Triangle Stone must be placed on the far left, followed by an empty space, then the Diamond Stone, another empty space, and finally, the Lunar Stone in the last slot.

However, we still need the Lunar Stone. To obtain it, we went down a floor and recovered the stone, as the sand filled the gap that previously existed. Once all the stones are correctly positioned, a new set of stairs appears, leading to the final path to the boss, Tutankoopa. This one has 30 HP, 3 Attack Power and 0 Defense. Your Chomp pet has a maximum HP of 4, attack power of 3, and defense power of 3.

After facing and defeating Tutankoopa, the next crucial step is to retrieve the badges that Princess Peach left for you in the Magical Treasure Chest. These badges are in Murluvee’s house, situated in Shooting Star Summit, located in the northernmost part of Toad Town. The badges that Princess Peach left for you are the Deep Focus badge and the Power Rush badge. The Deep Focus badge allows Mario to focus more deeply, enhancing his ability to recharge Star Power during battles, while the Power Rush badge increases Mario’s attack power when he is in danger, making them essential for the next stage of your journey.

After collecting these badges, your next task is to descend below Toad Town through the private warp tube. Now equipped with the ability to break the silver blocks in your path, you will encounter the Blooper, an aquatic adversary that you have come across before. Prepare for a battle. Upon defeating the Blooper, a blue switch falls to the ground. Stepping on this switch triggers three other warp pipes to rise from the floor. These lead to several areas, including Goomba Village and Koopa Village, making your commute easier.

Continuing your exploration to the left, climb a series of platforms that lead to the ceiling. After passing through a pipe and a door, you’ll find a treasure chest containing the Power Smash badge on the left edge of the underground area. This badge allows Mario to perform a powerful Power Smash, spending 2 Flower Points (FP).

Returning to the right, you will find two platforms that move according to Mario’s weight. Go through them, go through another door, and you’ll come across another series of rising platforms. Let these platforms raise you to the ceiling and then walk right until you find a hole in the floor. Going down this hole, you will find a Super Block on the right edge of the area. Activating it will raise all your partners to super rank status!

To acquire the Star Piece, return to the platforms that raise to the ceiling. Drop down early onto the first of a set of three brick platforms and use Parakarry to reach the third, where you’ll find a Star Piece.

Finally, before completing this step, make sure to deliver the magic seed you found to Mihn T in Toad Town.

Chapter 3 – The “Invincible” Tubba Blubba

Eternal Forest

Start your adventure towards the Eternal Forest, a place full of mysteries and magic. Situated east of Toad Town Center, it’s easy to locate – just cross the small bridge near Tayce T’s kitchen. Prepare for an enigmatic journey as you pass the guard booth at the entrance to the forest. A dark and inviting atmosphere will pull you in, something similar to the feeling of entering the famous Lost Woods from Nintendo’s Legend of Zelda games.

In this forest, with its labyrinthine trails, every mistake can return you to the beginning. To progress, you need to carefully observe the subtleties of the areas around the exits – the key is in the details. Each area generally has four exits, each with its own clues, ranging from eyes on a tree to smiling flowers.

During your exploration, you will encounter various enemies, such as green Forest Fuzzies. They are not particularly dangerous, only dealing 1 HP of damage, but they often appear in large groups and are tough (6 HP). On the other hand, Piranha Plants are easier to defeat (5HP) but do more damage when they attack. Make sure to attack these plants first and always try to eliminate all the Fuzzies at once as they have the ability to multiply. Use moves that attack multiple opponents at the same time, such as Quake Hammer and Power Shell, and keep your HP and FP up to date by using Refresh when necessary.

If you encounter difficulties finding the correct exits, here is a guide to make your crossing easier:

  1. Turn right from the sign, take the second exit. Tip: Pay attention to flower bushes that shake and make noise.
  2. Choose the first exit on the left. Tip: Red eyes appear on the tree in the background.
  3. Again, take the first exit on the left. Tip: the flowers turn, but they don’t smile and they make a unique sound.
  4. Continue left, but enter the middle of this area (north). Here, you will find another Magic Seed. To proceed, return to the path and take the second exit on the left. Tip: A tree in the background will laugh and a face will appear when you move.
  5. Take the first exit on the left. Tip: The mushrooms in the background will blink if you examine them. The right one will make the mushrooms flash several times.
  6. Choose the first exit on the right. Tip: Fake flowers will laugh and disappear when examined, only real ones will remain.
  7. Take the second exit on the right, but remember to return to the exit with the sign later. Tip: If you examine the rock, a face will appear and laugh.
  8. Before proceeding, examine the bushes ahead and flowers will appear. Continue until you find an opening leading to the middle of the area, where you’ll find an FP Plus badge that will increase your FP by 5 when equipped. Then, return to the turnstile you entered through and exit. Tip: As you examine the bush, flowers will appear.
  9. The last exit is clearly marked by a sign. Make no mistake, follow it. Hint: the sign.

Boo Mansion

Before advancing through the entrance to the old Boo Mansion, make sure to grab the Volt Shroom from the block on the right. Fuel up your health and FP, save your game, and prepare to face its ghostly inhabitants.

In the mansion, start by going up the stairs to the second floor. There, examine the empty painting at the end of the hallway to get an idea of what you should look for next. Then, enter the door to the left of the painting and examine the middle cabinet on the left side of the room (be careful with the other cabinets, they can fall on you and cost 1 HP). Ghosts will appear and challenge you to a game in which you will have to guess which Boo is holding a disc. Keep an eye on Boo holding the disc and follow his movements. As soon as you get the opportunity, run up to the correct Boo (he’ll keep moving) and jump on his head. If you get it right, you will win the disc as a key item.

Once you have the key, exit the room and enter the next door on the left. Here you will find a phonograph, a fireplace and a ghost. Explore the room, then use the record on the phonograph. Press the A button at the right time to play the music and make the ghost dance. Once he’s completely engaged in his dance, stop the music (by pressing B) and run to the treasure chest he was protecting. Be quick, because if you take too long, the ghost will return to the chest before you, and you will have to repeat the entire process. Inside the chest, you will find the Weight item.

With the Peso in hand, you can find it if you return to the first totem in the Forever Forest and follow the exit to the left. It is recommended to equip the HP Plus badge because Jr. Koopa can deal 5 points of damage with a single attack. And don’t forget to take lots of healing items with you. He has 40HP, so it will be a tough fight. The best strategy is to start the fight with Mario’s Power Bounce move (from the Power Bounce Badge). If you have enough FP, use Bow’s Spook to send Jr. Koopa away. Then continue with Power Bounce attacks until he is defeated. After the fight, return to the Boo mansion and head east.

You will now face a battle against Jr. Koopa. This little villain, now equipped with wings, awaits the player at the entrance to the Eternal Forest, near Boo Mansion. In his new winged form, Jr. Koopa is immune to Bow’s attacks, so the best strategy is to select Parakarry or Goombario as a helper for this battle. Jr. Koopa has a total of 40 HP, but if you upgraded his HP and FP before this fight, you should have no problem defeating him.

After defeating Jr. Koopa, head to Gusty Gulch, which is to the right of Boo’s Mansion. The entrance will only open after Lady Bow joins her team, opening the gate with the help of her ghost friends. At the entrance to Gusty Gulch, there is a hidden Star Piece that can be obtained with a spin jump. Continue east past the windmill, keeping an eye out for Hyper Goombas that can do considerable damage if not defeated quickly. In Gusty Gulch, there are also useful items to collect, including a Dizzy Dial, a Repel Gel, and a letter for Fice T.

As you continue, you will reach Tubba Blubba Castle. Here, Bow is an essential partner, as her invisibility ability will allow you to slip past guards without being noticed. If you are caught, you will be expelled from the castle, which makes it vital to use Bow’s ability to remain unnoticed. There are also several Star Pieces hidden in the castle to collect, and you can find the Castle Key and a Super Block, which can be used to upgrade a member of your party.

The final battle of this chapter is against Tubba Blubba himself. Tubba Blubba has a total of 50 HP, with an attack power of 6 and no defense. His strongest attack can take away 12 HP, so it’s crucial to use Bow’s Outta Sight ability whenever Tubba is charging up an attack. When Tubba’s HP drops to 5, he flees, and when he finally defeats him, all the ghosts he consumed are freed, including Skolar, the Star Spirit.

After Chapter 3, a scene occurs with Bowser planning his next attack on Mario. As Peach, you must listen to Bowser’s conversation, and when discovered, Bowser will ask questions about things that Mario hates. To help Mario, it’s best to choose items that can help him, such as Mushroom, Thunder Rage and Soda, which will be placed in Mario’s path in the next chapter.

When you return to Toad Town after defeating Tubba Blubba, you will find the town overrun by Shy Guys. It’s your task to restore order to the city and drive out the Shy Guys. There are several Star Pieces to collect in this section, as well as several Shy Guys to defeat.

Sapo City Sewers

To get to the Toad Town Sewers, you’ll need to head back to the pipe with the Private Sign south of Tayle’s house. Now there are two new areas you can access. Along the way, you will find a gray block on the left. When you smash it, you will again come across Blooper, the giant Squid. Be careful not to touch the Blooper when it is building up energy, as it may attack with ink or hit you directly. Additionally, the Blooper will deal slightly more damage when electrified. However, with a combination of jumping and punching, you should be able to defeat him quickly. It has 50 HP. Beating him will reward you with a blue switch, which will raise three warp pipes. The leftmost tube leads to Dry Dry Outpost, the middle one to Koopa Village, and the right one to Goomba Village. These tubes will allow you to move between cities and complete some side missions more quickly and conveniently.

After dealing with the Blooper, proceed to the next room by breaking another stone block. Make sure you hit all the question boxes in the room, then keep jumping onto the platform. Jump left and enter the next room. From here, there are two ways to proceed. First, you can jump to the platform on the right, using the classic Mario style, where one platform goes down while the other goes up. Wait until the second platform is high enough and jump onto it. In this room, you will find a Star Piece. Use Parakarry’s ability to get it and then go back to the room with the door.

Now, enter the room on the left and be careful to avoid or defeat the Goombas present. Hit the block to make the springboard fall, then jump left to reach the treasure chest. Inside you’ll find the Power Smash badge, which will increase the power of your attacks. From the entrance to this entire area, smash the floorboard to access the basement and head left. Defeat all enemies present in this room to obtain another blue switch. When you activate it, a warp pipe will open, allowing you to easily move between Boo’s Castle and your current location. Be careful with the Dark Koopas as they have a move that can stun you.

The next room on the left can be a challenge, but it’s worth it as it contains a valuable Super Block. In this room, there is a blue box on the floor that you can push, and a large gap between the platforms that separates you from an upgrade box. When Watt joins his group, it will become easier to solve this room, although you may already be successful here before then. There are actually three invisible panels that allow you to fill in the gap. Looking at the checkerboard floor, the first panel is in the right column, three rows from the top. The next one is three squares to the left. And the third is three more squares to the left. Move the blue box to the indicated square, climb onto it and jump up. Once you make all the panels visible, it will be easy to cross the gap and update another one of your friends.

Once you have Sushie as a partner, you can also explore the sewers on the right. Use Sushie’s ability from the floating platform and swim. Once again, the Blooper will return, now in the form of the Super Blooper, an even larger squid with 70 HP. The Super Blooper is a formidable opponent, as in addition to attacking with its previous moves, it can also spawn new mini Bloopers to help you. His most dangerous attack comes when he powers up and changes color to red. At this time, it is recommended that you switch to Bow as quickly as possible to protect yourself using the Outta Sight move. Defeat the Super Blooper and a blue button will appear, allowing you to activate a pipe connection to Lavalava Island.

The sewers continue to the right, but you will now need Lakilester to proceed into the next room. If Lakilester has already joined your party, go to the room with the spikes. Using Lakilester’s hover ability, cross the spikes and enter the pipe. In the next room you’ll find several hidden panels, so switch to Watt if you’re looking for secret items. Exit the room on the left by breaking the stone block. Be careful with the Dark Koopas you’ll encounter, and note that there’s also a row of panels, including a hidden one, but you won’t be able to do anything with them yet.

Jump on the trampoline in the next room and jump to the left (ignore the trampoline on the block for now). You will find a treasure chest containing Ultra Boosts. Not only does this item increase the attack power of your jump, but Mario can now also perform a Tornado Jump by pressing A while in the air. Try the new stone block jump to make the springboard fall. Then, return to the previous room and use Tornado Jump on all panels, including the hidden one. Go back to the room of spikes, cross them using Lakilester, hit the lone panel and finally exit to the right.

Switch to Watt to see a series of hidden panels bridging a gap in the next room. Go through all the panels using Tornado Jump. Now you can use the blocks to cross to the platform on the right. If you don’t feel confident jumping between platforms, you can bring out Parakarry and fly from block to block (just press C-Down again to fall down). The blue door in front of you will be locked for now, but will eventually lead to a new area. To proceed, jump into the pipe on the right. You’ll come to a room with a suspicious wall. Use Bombette to create a hole and go through it. You’ve discovered Rip Cheato’s secret hideout.

Rip Cheato will have something to sell for just 64 coins. It is recommended to take advantage of their offers. You will be able to acquire three Star Pieces with it. Rip will give you a Star Piece on your first offer, another on your fifth offer, and four on your tenth offer. Additionally, Rip will have other offers for the same price. You can do some shopping and get items like the impact attack badge, vital mushrooms, repellent gel, among others. Remember to come back and keep shopping until you get all three available Star Pieces.

After acquiring what you need from Rip Cheato, head forward through the pipe and you’ll come to a small storage room with a Strange Key. Take it to unlock the door on the right. This will open the door to the storage shed in Toad Town, allowing you to get to Rip a little quicker in the future. After finishing all the tasks in Toad Town, move on with your mission and start the next chapter of Paper Mario.

Chapter 4 – Trials in the Toy Box

Enter the empty house in Toad Town and use Bow’s special power to become invisible. A Shy Guy will enter the house and reveal a secret door. Examine the wall to open the door and enter the Toy Box. You can enter the Toy Box at any time by jumping on the trampoline.

Toy Box – Blue Station: When you enter the Toy Box, you will be in the Blue Station. The train is currently not operating, so you cannot travel between stations. However, there is a hidden Star Piece in the area. Move the tile down and to the right of the Frog standing in the station square and perform a Spin Jump to make the Star Piece appear.

Go left from Blue Station and you’ll come to an area with a black Shy Guy guarding a treasure chest. Challenge him to a battle. Be careful as this Shy Guy does a lot of damage and has 50 HP. Use sleep skills such as Lullaby to win the battle more easily. As a reward, you will receive the Power Plus Badge, which increases the power of your jumps and hammer attacks by 1. Defeat the other Shy Guys in the area, such as the Jester Shy Guys (7 HP), and collect the items they are holding, such as the Calculator, Cake Mix and a Mushroom.

Go back to the Toy Box entrance room and go right. Depending on the choices you made as Princess Peach before this chapter, Kammy will drop a mushroom or an enemy. Defeat the pink Shy Guys and use the star boxes as catapults, performing a Spin Jump. Be careful with the flying Shy Guys.

There are two Star Pieces hidden in this area. Enter one of the blue houses in the background and climb the stairs to the roof. Have Parakarry carry you to the left house to get a Star Piece. Head left along the wall to find another Star Piece hidden just behind the fallen yellow block.

After getting the two Star Pieces, climb back to the top of the blue house. Jump to the house on the right and drop to the ground to pass through the wall. Use Parakarry again to get the ? Block to the right and get a Thunder Bolt. Continue right and find the item suggested by Peach for Bowser to throw into Mario’s path. Open the treasure box to obtain the Storeroom Key for the Frog Town Store. Leave the Toy Box for now.

Frog Town: Badge Shop: Exit the Toy Box and go to the Badge Shop in Frog Town. Return the Calculator to the store owner and receive the I Spy badge as a reward. This badge will alert you whenever there is a hidden panel in an area. If you wish to purchase more badges, leave the area and return as the store will be open again.

Frog Town: Shop: Go to the Item Shop in Frog Town and return the Storage Key. As a reward, you will be able to enter the warehouse and pick up any item you want. You will receive the Toy Train, a Volt Shroom, a Dizzy Dial, and a Snowman Doll.

Return to the Toy Box with the Toy Train in hand. Place the train inside the box and enter the Toy Box again. Now, press the button to the right of the train station to point the arrow right and talk to Frog on the platform to catch the train to Pink Station.

Pink Station: When you arrive at Pink Station, you will find a Star Piece hidden in this area. Move two pieces down and one to the right of the Frog standing in the station square and perform a Spin Jump to get it. There will also be a treasure chest immediately to the right containing the stolen Mailbag.

Go right and you’ll face an obstacle thrown by Bowser’s sidekick. Use the appropriate item to overcome the obstacle. Keep advancing, defeating the Shy Guys and using boxes as catapults. Keep an eye out for entrances to blue houses, as some hide Star Pieces. Keep advancing and use Watt’s special ability to illuminate dark areas and find hidden blocks.

When you reach the area with General Guy and his Shy Squad, prepare for a battle against them. Defeat the Shy Guys, pay attention to their strategies and block their attacks. Face General Guy and his battle machine. Attack the lamp and cockpit to cause damage.

After defeating General Guy, you will be rewarded with the release of the fourth Star Spirit, Muskular. It will give Mario more Star Energy and the ability to use Chill Out Star Spirit Power.

Peach Castle: As Peach, continue your room escape mission. Go past the fireplace and follow the main hallway until you reach the room on the right. Talk to the Gourmet Guy in the kitchen room and give him something to eat. In return, he will give you the Castle Key.

Set sail for Toad Town Harbor and find the blue “floating island” that resembles a tuna. Jump on top of the island to reveal it is a whale. Enter the whale and use Watt’s lighting ability to solve the problem inside, fighting Fuzzipede. After the battle, the whale will offer to take you to Lavalava Island.

Chapter 5 – Hot Hot Times on Lavalava Island

Now that you’re on Lavalava Island, it’s time to explore its surroundings and discover all the secrets and challenges the island has to offer. Upon arriving at the island, you come across helicopter plants, which can spin you around in the air when combined with their spinning motion. Additionally, there are plants that provide hearts to recover your health and trees that drop coconuts that can be used in battles. Be sure to check all the trees and plants for items and secrets.

Start by heading south towards the sandy beaches. There, you find Kolorado being attacked by some evil Jungle Fuzzies. Help him defeat these enemies to ensure his safety. While you’re in this area, keep an eye on the trees as you can drop coconuts from them, which can be useful in battles. However, the last tree in this area holds a special treasure, a Star Piece. It is located on the far right, between a helicopter flower and a set of two large rocks. Make sure to pick up the Star Piece as they are valuable items in the game.

Continue exploring towards the east and you will find Yoshi’s Island. Talk to the village leader, who is sitting on one of the three small islands in the sea. He looks like a chubby Yoshi with a leaf on his head. When talking to him, you discover that you need to find some missing Yoshi children. Before proceeding with this task, there is one more Star Piece to collect. Use your butt movement to uncover a star piece in front of the bird statue at the top of the three Yoshi Islands in this area.

Now, keep heading east and you’ll reach the heart of Yoshi’s Village. Here you can rest in an inn, buy items and save the game. Talk to the villagers to get useful information about the island and the missing children. Discover that Kolorado has entered a jungle trail that ends halfway to the volcano and is likely experiencing trouble there. Head east of town to find Kolorado being disturbed by some enemies. Defeat them to rescue him. You can use Bombette’s blast move to deal significant damage to them.

After the battle, go behind the giant tree on the right where you were fighting and find an item called Jammin’ Jelly, which restores 50 FP. Now, you’re ready to continue towards the volcano’s entrance, but there’s a problem: a large gap prevents you from getting there. Return to the village for more help and discover that the Yoshi children have disappeared. Head north of the village to find them. In this area, you will find a path blocked by bushes. Use the search command to open the path and proceed.

In the area to the east, you find Sushie trapped in a tree by one of the child traps. Use her hammer to knock down the trap and Sushie will join her party. Now you can use it to cross deep water. Test Sushie’s skills immediately, as there is a dock right below you. On the top edges of the screen, you’ll find two docks: one on the left, where you can find a Bub-ulb, and one on the right, where there’s a Star Piece. When you talk to Bub-ulb, you learn that you will need to come back later.

Take the opportunity to collect the star piece and smash the tree on that island as well to get a letter for Russ T. in Toad Town. After resolving these matters, return to the west of the area where you were. There, you will find a red question mark block on an island that can only be reached with Sushie. Inside the block you will find the Power Quake Badge, which will allow you to perform an even more powerful hammer blow. After retrieving the badge, dive back into the water with Sushie and float west. Use your diving move to go under land bridges and other obstacles.

In this new area, you will find three gold coins. Just above them, there is a place to dock and dry out a little. Follow the path to the right where you’ll find a Shy Guy, then head south. At the end, you’ll find a Super Block, which can be used to upgrade Sushie’s abilities with his new move, Water Block. Then go back into the water and latch onto it just below where you found the gold coins underwater. After hearing a “Boo-uhhh-oooo” or two, you will start to hear a squeaky sound, as if someone is jumping on an old mattress. Swim up and open a set of bushes to find an ambushed enemy. Defeat him and continue forward.

In the next area, you will find an island with a stump and a tree. Before docking, go past it to find a piece of star underwater just beyond it. Then smash the stump with your hammer and it will rise from the ground, forming a bridge to another lost Yoshi boy. Return to the water and swim back to the previous area with the spinning flower and the high ledge. Continue east, where you’ll find another stump waiting to be smashed into a bridge. On the other side of the bridge is an island with a dock connected to the bottom of it. Climb onto the dock and dive again with Sushie.

To the right of the dock you’ll find a coin, and above it you’ll have to go under a land bridge before docking on the other side. In this area, you will find a strange statue that represents crows. It’s a statue of Raphael the Raven. Remember this area as you will have to come back later. Take Sushie back to the water and swim to the southern dock. There, you’ll find a Yoshi napping in a tree to the left. Knock it down with your hammer, and below the tree you’ll find another stump that can be broken to form a bridge. This bridge will take you back to the city entrance.

At this point, it’s a good idea to return to Yoshi’s Village, rest at Toad’s House, and save your game before proceeding. Once you’ve done that, go back across the last bridge you formed and go past the tree where the boy Yoshi was napping. Enter the area above it. This is the area with the statue of Raphael the Raven. Go to the area to the east and you’ll find another Yoshi boy in trouble, surrounded by two Putrid Piranha Plants.

You will now face a boss, the Putrid Piranha Plants. They have 12 health points and an attack power of 3, but no defense power. If you want to defeat them quickly, you can use Bombette’s power bomb attack combined with the Star Storm attack. However, be aware that they have the ability to poison you, so be careful and make sure you have a sufficient amount of energy before the battle. Use as many action points as you want.

After the battle, return to the village and you will find that everyone is calm now. The village leader wants to personally thank you for your efforts and is waiting for you in the area where you first encountered him, west of town. He is standing in front of a statue of Raphael the Raven. He will give you the Jade Raven, which fits perfectly into the Raphael the Raven statue north of the village. Go there and place the Jade Raven on the statue. If you forgot, the statue is located in the jungle area, right above where you found boy Yoshi sleeping in a tree.

Once you place the Jade Raven correctly on the statue, it will reveal a secret path. Follow this path to a new area, which appears to be a dead end. However, on the right edge of the territory, there is a tree. Just to the left of it, you will find very tall bushes that can be searched to reveal another opening to a path. If you need an Egg to replenish your action points, pull a vine hanging from the tree on the left edge of the territory. Otherwise, continue advancing through the thicket.

In this new area, you will find several blue blocks and holes in the ground. Cover any holes in the floor, then cover the water spout that spouts to the right. Your goal is to cover the correct hole so that the water is forced out from under the large rock at the upper edge of the territory. This will reveal a new path for you to follow.

As you follow this path further into the jungle, you will come to an area with several trees with vines hanging down on the right side. Pull the vines to reveal a secret and get an item. Make sure to pull the second vine from the right outer edge. This will reveal yet another path for you to follow. In this area, you will find another Star Piece hidden under a panel in the center of the area. Make sure to grab the Star Piece before proceeding. However, prepare to face three Putrid Piranha Plants to progress.

Now it’s time to fight the Putrid Piranha plants and the White Magikoopa that supports them. The White Magikoopa has 11 health points and an attack power of 3, but it also has no defense power. He’s a healer, so your priority should be to take him down as quickly as possible. Use Bombette’s Power Bomb move in combination with the Star Storm attack to make the battle easier.

After the battle, Raphael the Raven and his gang of ravens will jump off the edge of the tree and build a contraption in the tree near the volcano. Follow Raphael the Raven off the ledge and keep following him until he and the other ravens stop and assemble the contraption. Now you are ready to face the challenges of the next area as you approach the volcano.

Volcano

After crossing the lava flow with the transportation contraption, you will enter the volcano and find a Piranha Plant and Kolorado. Kolorado will teach a valuable lesson when he burns himself in the lava and lets the rocks sink. At this point, you will have to cross the same path, but quickly. Navigate the sinking rocks and move on to the next room.

In the next room, you’ll find another zip cord. Use it to cross the gap and enter the next room. Here, you’ll come across a set of rotating fire gates. Use the rotation movement at the right time to avoid being hit by the fire gates. At the end of the path, you will find a Super Block. Now, go back to the room with the zip cord, but this time, you’ll have to go under it.

After passing through a series of question mark blocks, you will come across a jump block. Instead of using the jump pad, move the screen down. You will find that the area moves progressively into the volcano via a set of stairs. At the bottom of these steps there is a save block and an ultra block that you cannot smash with your current hammer. Save and continue moving towards the heart of the volcano.

As you walk along the cordon, you will pass over a Fire Shield Badge. To get it, just jump off the zip cord. If you make a mistake, don’t worry, there’s a jump pad at the bottom that will take you back. Keep advancing to the bottom. In the room on the right, you’ll find a Super Block and a Star Piece, but you won’t be able to get the Super Block yet. If you want the Star Piece now, enter the room.

In this new area, the room progressively moves into the volcano via a set of stairs. At the bottom of these stairs there is another save block and an ultra block that you cannot smash with your current hammer. Save again and continue moving towards the heart of the volcano. You will pass over a Fire Shield Badge on the cordon. To get it, just jump off the zip cord. Again, if you make a mistake, there’s a jump pad at the bottom to help you out. Continue down to the bottom.

In the room on the right, you’ll find a Super Block and a Star Piece, but you won’t be able to get the Super Block yet. If you want the Star Piece now, enter the room. Use Mario’s butt move on the right edge of the room to reveal a floor panel that hides the star beneath it.

If you choose to enter the area on the left, the path will continue down deeper into the volcano. In the next room, it appears you are at a dead end due to lava coming out of a mouth on the upper ledge. Use Parakarry to cross the lava flow at the top, where you’ll see three blue blocks. Push the blocks one by one into the lava flow, starting with the one closest to the lava. This will create a dam, thus blocking the lava and creating a safer path. At the bottom, you can use Parakarry again to cross the lava flow.

Moving left towards the next room, you will encounter another similar obstacle. There is a treasure chest at the top, but the lava flow is too big to reach it. Push the two blue blocks into the room to form a “dock” in the lava path. Then walk over the blocks, and when you reach the edge, use Parakarry to take you the rest of the way. In the treasure chest at the top, you will find the Ultra Hammer, which allows you to smash the ultra super tough blocks and increase your attack power.

Go back to the room where you created a dam with the three blocks and you will find an ultra block that prevents you from leaving a room at the bottom of some stairs. Smash it to find another lava flow that Parakarry can help you cross. On the other side is a small treasure chest containing the Dizzy Stomp badge.

Return to the room where you last found a save block (near the Fire Shield Badge) and Kolorado will be waiting for you there. He will help you break through the ultra block with his new hammer.

Now, jump onto the rope in the next room, and from the moment your hands touch the rope, count “1, Mississippi, 2, Mississippi.” As soon as you finish saying this, jump off the rope. This should leave you on the ledge with the Super Block below. If you make a mistake, go back and try again adjusting your count. After completing this part, use the string to go all the way.

When you reach the next room, a large spiked rock will fall from the ceiling, rolling behind you. To stay well ahead, use the spin move repeatedly (if you have the Speedy Spin badge, this will help a lot). In the next area, you’ll have to cross a lava pit by jumping on floating chunks of land and avoiding the rotating fire gates. At the end of one of the landmasses, there will be a rapidly rotating fire gate, and you will have to wait for another floating landmass to arrive. To avoid problems, you can stay at the end without being hit and thus wait for the floating platform as if the gate were not an obstacle.

In the next room, walk to the end, where you’ll find a tiny blue square block embedded in a groove. Push it to the end of the groove so you can jump onto the ledge and break a set of ultra blocks. Once you break all the ultra blocks, a large spiked rock will start rolling along the edges. Move out of the way and let it hit the wall on the other side of the room, creating a new door. Enter the door and walk around until you see a heart block to replenish your energy. Next to the heart block, stay to the left and use the butt slam move to reveal another floor panel that contains a star piece.

Now, follow Kolorado to the next room, where he believes there is treasure. However, there is no treasure, just a few item blocks. After stocking up on your items, return to the previous room and hug the lower ledge, where you’ll find a set of stairs. Go down the stairs to a save point and continue forward. The boss, Lava Piranha, is just ahead.

Boss Battle: Lava Piranha HP: 40 – Attack Power: 5 – Defense Power: 0

The small lava buds on the large Piranha Plant are the first thing you should eliminate, as they have an attack power of four. You can maximize your effectiveness by using attacks that hit all enemies at once. Since lava buttons only have eight HP, you can get rid of them quickly. For example, a thunder rage and summoning a starstorm will do the trick. Don’t bother using fire attacks on this boss as they are useless. Sushie is a great partner option due to its water squirting movement. Watch her FP and never let it drop below 10 to ensure it’s safe. After defeating the Lava Piranha, it will fall into the lava pit and revive itself. This means you’ll have to face her again, but as you’ve probably noticed, it won’t be as easy as the first time. Repeat the same strategy and always keep your energy level high.

After defeating the hot-blooded plant once and for all, you will rescue the fifth Star Spirit, Misstar. The volcano will begin to crumble from the inside, so follow Misstar as quickly as possible. The lava flow continues to increase, but Misstar will find a crack in the wall. Use Bombette to blow it up. Finally, after following Misstar a little longer, the volcano will erupt and she will save her and Kolorado’s lives. The treasure chest that Kolorado wanted so much will be catapulted out of the volcano with the eruption, and he will end up on an island near Yoshi’s Village.

Peach Castle

Escape as usual, going to the lower hall of the castle, which is on the bottom floor (through the last door you unlocked). Enter the leftmost door, where the guards will be hosting a quiz show called “The 64th Trivia Quiz-Off”. Chuck Quizmo may not be there, but there are a lot of questions to answer. His host, Mr. Hammer, will ask you a series of 10 questions, and you must try to get as many correct as possible. Here are the answers to the questions:

  1. Lava Piranha
  2. Flower Fields
  3. Chomp
  4. Pass the flower gate
  5. Princess Peach
  6. Flower
  7. Bowser
  8. Boo
  9. The Flower Garden
  10. At Bowser’s Castle

The questions, especially the second one, will give you a clue as to where Mario should go next. At the end of the game, you will receive the Sneaky Parasol, which allows you to disguise yourself as anyone the parasol is pointed at. Peach will be able to use this later to disguise herself and travel freely around the castle. Bowser will interrupt the game and you will return to where Mario stopped outside the volcano. At this point, Missstar will increase her Star Power to five, allowing you to summon her to use Smooch, an ability that restores Mario’s HP. Now, go in search of the treasure on Mount Lavalava. Start by heading back to Yoshi’s Village. Go north and past the set of moving bushes, then head east. You will reach the treasure, which contains a Volcano Vase. Return to the village and give the Volcano Vase to Kolorado, and he will give you a Magical Seed that he found during his travels in the volcano. Now, return to Toad Town, but before boarding the friendly whale, consider equipping the Spike Shield badge. Now it’s time for the inevitable encounter with Jr. Troopa, who this time has his head stuck on his head.

Boss Battle: Master Jr. Troopa HP: 20 – Attack Power: 6 – Defense Power: 1

It has wings and a spike for a head, so you’ll have to work around these new attributes. The easiest way to beat him is to summon Star Spirit’s Lullaby spell and use Watt as your partner. This combo is unbeatable, and with just 20 HP, he will disappear quickly. Use the Lullaby spell twice to keep him asleep throughout the fight. Too easy!

City of Frogs

There is a lot to do in Frog City, including purchasing the usual items. However, there is a bigger problem: Kent C. Koopa is blocking the Pleasant Path with his huge body. Fight him and defeat him to make him move out of the way.

Boss Battle: Kent C. Koopa HP: 70 – Attack Power: 10 – Defense Power: 6

He is very powerful and has a lot of energy, so he won’t be an easy enemy unless you know how to face him. Use your Lullaby spell to keep him asleep and attack him with your hammer attacks and Watt’s zap move. Whenever he wakes up, just put him back to sleep. This will make things much easier. Don’t worry about your Star Spirit power level, because when you’re done with the battle, you can recharge it with a nap in frog town.

Defeating him doesn’t offer any immediate rewards other than a lot of star points, but it does clear the Pleasant Path, which needed to be cleared. There are other things to do besides fighting, of course. If you go back to the Toad Town sewers, you can use a Super Block and, with Sushie’s help, you can access new parts of the tunnel. Drop down through the hole in the floor in the first room and head right to reach a dock. Use Sushie to cross the pool of water. Once you get to the other side, the Super Blooper will appear from the water to fight you.

Boss Battle: Super Blooper HP: 60 – Attack Power: 5 – Defense Power: 0

At this point, you may be tired of using the Lullaby spell on your enemies as it seems too easy. However, it is an effective strategy against the Super Blooper as well. Use Watt and Jump attacks to defeat him. Whenever he wakes up, simply put him back to sleep with the Lullaby spell. It’s almost too easy.

After defeating him, the transport tube to Yoshi’s Island will be activated. However, don’t rush into tropical adventures just yet. Go to the next room. While you can’t do much in this room without the next party member, Lakilester, there is a transport pipe on the right edge. Go down the pipe to reach an apparent dead end. Use Bombette to blow a hole in the wall and you’ll find Rip Cheato in the next room. He will be willing to sell mystery items for 64 coins.

Star Piece: Buy a Star Piece from Rip Cheato for 64 coins. This is the first item he sells to you. Star Piece: Buy a Star Piece from Rip Cheato for 64 coins. This is the fifth item he sells to you. Star Piece: Buy a Star Piece from Rip Cheato for 64 coins. This is the tenth item he sells to you. Additionally, Rip will also sell you a Impact Attack Badge on your third purchase.

After getting the key at the back of the room and leaving, you will be able to access this part of the basement by entering the house. However, don’t leave the sewers just yet. Go back down through the hole in the floor and go left this time instead of right (where you fought the Super Blooper). In the last room, there is a small blue block on the floor. Use Watt to reveal some hidden blocks and place the blue block underneath them. Then stand on the blue block to jump to the hidden blocks. Use these blocks as platforms to reach a Super Block. You can now upgrade another party member.

Once you’ve done all of this, you can finally get back to the main part of the game. Go back and find Mihn T. in his flower garden. Give her the last magic seed and a door will appear in the center of the garden. This door leads to the Flower Fields, where your help is needed!

Chapter 6 – Dark days in flower fields

Upon arriving in the Flower Fields, you discover that Huff N. Puff and his followers have recently invaded the land. They darkened the skies with their clouds, which are the life force behind the flowers. The giant tree called Wise Wisterwood, located in the center of the Flower Fields, reveals this information to you. Wisterwood advises heading east and finding Petunia, the flower that possesses the Magic Bean. Follow that guidance and head east first.

You’ll immediately notice flower vines hanging from the back edge walls. When standing in front of the vines, they will occasionally open, revealing an item. In the next room, there is a berry tree. Make sure to make room in your inventory as you will need these fruits later. Star Piece: To get a star, go directly below the red tree on the bottom edge of the screen. It’s hidden under a panel just above the bush.

In the center of this area, you’ll find Petunia sobbing over the Monty Moles that are eating her roots. Defeat the Monty Moles and Petunia will give you a Magic Bean. However, the mission is far from over. Before heading back to the center, head west until you reach an area with a well. If you throw a Blue Berry into this pit, you will receive a Flower Saver Badge.

Now, it’s time to explore the other passages in Campos de Flores. Bring the red berries to the southwest passage. There, you will find a red flower guarding a gate on the path. Give her the red berries and she will allow you to proceed. Continue along the path until you reach a large tree similar to the tree where you collected the berries. Use the hammer to hit the tree and knock down some yellow berries. Star Piece: Get a star hidden below the panel under the Yellow Berry tree.

Continue along the path until you reach the yellow flower under a crystal tree. He talks to the flower and it will give him the Fertile Soil. Now, return to the main hub to proceed to the next passage.

Head to the southeast passage, where you’ll find another yellow flower guarding the gate. Give her the corresponding berry, which is yellow, to open the gate. You will reach a path full of thorns where you will need Parakarry’s help. Along the way, there is a Super Block floating above the path. Fight the daisies to collect it. Soon after, you’ll find another tree, which will give you Blue Berries this time. Before proceeding, walk to the east side of the area and use Watt to locate a hidden block. Next to it is a hidden panel with a star.

Keep heading east and you’ll find that the Miracle Water spring is dry. Before you go anywhere, though, head east and you’ll find bad news again. To get the Miracle Water, you will need the Water Stone. However, not all is lost. Return to the Crystal Tree in the southwest passage, where the Yellow Flower will give you a Crystal Berry after being informed about the situation. With the Crystal Berry in hand, give it to Rosie the Rose in the western passage. Rosie will now give you the beautiful Water Stone. With the Water Stone, return to the dry lake in the southeast passage. By giving the Water Stone to Lily, the spring is reactivated and all reservoirs are filled with water. Now you can get to the small island with a bubbling tree.

Use Sushi to float to the island, hit the tree with the hammer, and put a Bubble Berry in your item inventory. Now, once again, return to the Flower Fields main hub. From here, you are ready to proceed to the next step and finally plant the Magic Seed to resolve the Flower Fields crisis.

You will follow the Northwest Passage. Now that you have all the main components to create a magical vine – seed, soil and water – you need sunlight to make it grow. This light source can be found at the end of the Northwest Path. Enter the area and talk to Bubble Flower. When you hand her the Bubble Berry, she creates a bubble for you to float on top of a set of spikes.

Before proceeding, it’s worth noting that there is a Star Piece hidden in this area. Before entering the next area, go up the stairs in the back, walk along a tree trunk and get the hidden star.

Continue moving forward to the next area, where you’ll see a set of stairs leading to a hammer badge. Climb to the top and use Bombette to blow up the big rock. Go down the hole that was covered by the rock and get the Mega Smash Badge. Head west, avoiding the Lakitus on your way, until you reach a large tower. There will be a rock under one of the stairs, making it inaccessible. Go down and use Bombette to blow it up. After that, climb the spiral staircase until you reach the top of the tower. Here you will find the Sun, who reveals information about the Huff N. Puff machine that blocks its light from the Flower Fields. Your mission is to destroy this machine, located at the end of the Northeast Path. On your way back to the hub, you will encounter an aggressive Lakitu named Spike. He is one of Huff N. Puff’s followers and you will have to face him in battle.

Boss Battle: Spike the Lakitu HP: 50 | Attack Power: 4 | Defense Power: 0

Spike can be paralyzed or put to sleep, which will make him easier to deal with. Use repeated jumping attacks with Mario and shocks from Watt to deal damage. He shouldn’t pose much of a threat if you’re careful.

After defeating Spike, he is impressed by your strength and wants to join you in the fight against Huff N. Puff. With Lakilester in your party, you can now float over obstacles like spikes, lava, and more. However, you will need Ultra Boots to proceed. They are located in Toad Town’s sewer system. Return to the Flower Fields hub and exit towards Toad Town.

Arriving in Toad Town, follow the pipe system, jump through the hole in the ground and float on the water with Sushie. Keep going right until you reach an elevated area where you’ll need Lakilester to float over a set of spikes. Jump onto the pipe on the other side, and in the room you arrive in is a stone block. Use the hammer to smash it, which will lead to a room with several boxes out of Mario’s reach. Navigate through the boxes until you find another sturdy block. Smash it with the hammer to advance to the next room, where you’ll find a blue jump pad. Use it to overcome the brick wall and find a treasure chest containing the Ultra Boots! Now you can perform the Tornado Jump, which is necessary to break the block with the blue spring above. With your new moves, return to the Flower Fields.

Once you’re back in Campos de Flores, head to the Northeast Passage. You’ll immediately notice a set of peculiar platforms. Jump on the first red block to make it rise. Then use Lakilester to float over the green block at the end. Now, jump on the green block to lower it. Then climb onto the purple block on the left. When you jump on the purple block, it will lower. Now ride Lakilester back to the start and walk to the first green block to lower it again. From there, ride Lakilester back to the third green block and lift it up. You can now walk to the purple block on the right and lift it to reach the path.

As you progress along the path, you’ll find a red spring that you can use to catapult yourself to a Super Block. To reach it, follow the secret path to the right. After this step, you will reach Huff N. Puff’s cloud machine. By attacking her repeatedly, a Magikoopa and a Lakitu will attack you. Defeat them and continue hitting the machine with your hammer until it is destroyed.

Finally, after all these tasks, it’s time to plant the Magic Seed and make it grow. Return to the Flower Fields hub. In front of the giant tree, you will see a dark spot on the ground, where you should place the Fertile Soil. Plant the seed and water it with the Miraculous Water. A giant vine will grow towards the sky, and you can climb it to face Huff N. Puff.

Boss Battle: Huff N. Puff HP: 60 | Attack Power: 5 | Defense Power: 0

Huff N. Puff is a powerful cloud that has several annoying and powerful techniques. When you hit it, little Huffs come out of it as separate entities. Unfortunately, you can’t paralyze him or put him to sleep, so you’ll have to rely on strong attacks and clever strategies. He will occasionally threaten to attack and shock you. When this happens, use the dodge move to hide. Bombette’s Mega Bomb attack and Bow’s Fan Smack attack are highly effective against him. It is advisable to keep your energy level above 15 and have a Life Shroom on hand to deal with your powerful moves when you are almost defeated.

By defeating Huff N. Puff, you will free the sixth Star Spirit, Klevar, who will teach you the Time Out summon. After the boss battle, the story will return to focusing on Mario. However, it’s worth mentioning that after the battle, there will be an episode involving Princess Peach. Your goal is to use the Sneaky Parasol you won in the quiz game to disguise yourself as one of the guards and explore the castle. This will allow you to access restricted areas and discover important information about Bowser and Kammy’s secret weapon.

Chapter 7 – A star spirit on ice

After traveling through the sewers of Toad Town and arriving in Shiver City, it’s time to explore this frozen city in search of clues and solve a mystery. First, head to the mayor’s house, located on the west side of the city. When you get there, you find the mayor lying on the ground, appearing to have been left for dead. In his hands, there is a letter with the word “Herringway”. Upon witnessing this scene, the mayor’s wife calls the local sheriff to investigate what happened and, to her surprise, you are named as the main suspect in a murder. Now, to prove your innocence, you need to find the real killer.

The first step is to question all of Shiver City’s citizens for clues. Talking to them, you discover that Herringway is a famous author of murder mystery novels who recently disappeared. However, you won’t be able to talk to Herringway until you find him. The best place to look for it is in your own home. Next to Herringway’s house, you find a locked storage room, which piques your curiosity. Coincidentally, there is a key at the bottom of a frozen lake in front of the warehouse.

To get the key, you need to use your Tornado Jump to break the ice on the lake, then call Sushie to float to the middle of the lake and dive into the glacial waters in search of the lost key. After retrieving the key, return to the storage room and unlock the door. Go up the stairs to the second floor, where you will find a red spring. When you activate it, Mario will be launched to the roof.

From the roof, you can jump to the roof of Herringway’s house, which is located on the left. Go down the chimney and enter your secret room. Now is the time to confront Herringway and accuse him of murder. However, Herringway insists that they both must return to the mayor’s house. When he gets there, something unexpected happens: the mayor wakes up and explains that he just slipped and hit his head, which made him pass out. There was no act of cold blood or murder.

Before proceeding, exit the mayor’s house and notice a group of penguins huddled together on the right side of the place. Talk to them about solving the mystery and they will return home. Under the group of penguins, there is a secret panel with a hidden Star Piece. Make sure to collect it before continuing your journey.

Now that the mystery has been solved, you are free to explore Shiver City. Once you’ve done all the activities available in town and feel like you’ve got most things taken care of, head east toward Starborn Valley. However, before you reach the valley, you will encounter an obstacle: Jr. Troopa is back, and this time he is more powerful than ever.

Boss Battle: Master Jr. Troopa HP: 50 | Attack Power: 8 | Defense Power: 1

Master Jr. Troopa has a powerful attack, so it is advisable to try to paralyze him or use Bow’s Outta Sight move to avoid his attacks. Be cautious and avoid getting hit by his attacks.

After defeating Jr. Troopa, continue forward until the atmosphere begins to change, indicating that you have reached Starborn Valley. However, another challenge awaits: you must face Monstar before proceeding to the valley. Despite its intimidating appearance, Monstar is relatively easy to defeat. With Monstar defeated, you can finally rest comfortably in Starborn Valley, where you will find Merle’s house and a Toad House to rest and recover your energy. When talking to Merle, he reveals that the Star Spirit is trapped in the Crystal Palace, but doesn’t know exactly how to get there. However, he has an important piece of the puzzle: a Sacred Scarf.

To open a hidden portal to the Crystal Palace, you need to combine the Sacred Scarf with another key item given to the people of Shiver. Return to Shiver Town and speak to the mayor, who has the second item: a Bucket. The snowman near the mayor’s house gives a tip on what to do with the scarf and bucket. Remember the line of snowmen you passed on the way to Starborn Valley? Go back there and you will find a snowman without a scarf and another with a hat (bucket). Dress the snowmen completely by placing the scarf and bucket on them, which will open the portal to the Crystal Palace.

Go through the portal and enter an icy cave. Jump into the opening in front of you, where you’ll find a green switch blocked under the ice. Use Tornado Jump to break the ice and press the button. Keep moving forward until you reach the end of the cave. Outside, there is a road that splits into a higher route and a staircase that leads to a lower route. Go down the steps, where you will find a rock. Make sure you leave room for it in your inventory. Now, take the higher path and use Kooper’s shell throw to throw a switch that’s just out of your reach. At that moment, something strange happens: an identical replica of Kooper appears, and you will have to find out who the real Kooper is based on what they say. Naturally, the real Kooper wouldn’t insult Mario by calling him an idiot, so choose the other one. You will then have to face the impostor in a battle. Defeat him and continue heading east until you find some stairs that lead to a Super Block.

After enjoying the Super Block, continue east until you reach another icy cave. Inside, there are several rocks with items housed inside. You can choose any of the items you want, but remember to leave a space vacant in your inventory. The stone you found earlier will be useful at this point. If you don’t leave any free space in your inventory, you will activate a trap. After choosing the desired items, proceed ahead. You will pass some stairs and come to a crack in the wall. Use Bombette to blast your way through the wall and head east until you reach a cave with a Star Stone.

At the end of this cave, there is a “mirage” wall that you can cross. Take the stone and go back up the stairs you passed earlier. Insert the stone into the corresponding opening and watch the ice rise from the ground, forming a set of stairs that will allow you to reach the top of the mountain. At the top, there is the entrance to the Crystal Palace. On the way there, you will find the Mega Jump Badge at the end of the first flight of stairs.

Don’t forget to collect the Star Piece hidden near a save point, just jump to the ledge below and grab the star piece.

Now, you are ready to enter the mysterious and challenging Crystal Palace. Be ready to face intriguing puzzles, overcome icy obstacles and free the imprisoned Star Spirit. Your journey to rescue peace continues in the frozen heart of this epic chapter.

At the Crystal Palace, you will notice that something peculiar is happening. There are two front doors, but one of them is just an illusion created by a mirror. The entire palace works this way, with puzzles that need to be solved on both sides of the mirror. After entering the palace, go through the southernmost door. You’ll notice a strange red X on the wall, but ignore it and go through the east door. Keep moving forward until you reach another room, where you will find the Blue Key. Take this key back to the palace entrance to open the Blue Door. Sounds simple, right? However, be sure to step on the red switch to lower the door, as all you will see is the red switch and the red door. Once inside the next room, use Bombette to create a hole in the wall and enter it. There you will find a coin box and a space between the pillars in the mirrored wall.

After entering the hole in the mirror wall, it is important to understand that what happens in this mirrored dimension is not restricted to this dimension alone. You will often need to find keys on the real side to proceed. Keep this in mind as you head back to the palace entrance.

Don’t forget to pick up a hidden Star Piece as you exit the palace through the mirror side and enter the cave to the west. Normally, this cave would lead back to the side of the mountain, but there is a piece of star hidden there.

This time, enter through the north door. In the middle of the room, there is a wooden panel. Use your Tornado Jump to trigger the hole that forms. Remember the red X in the southern rooms? Now you will see a hole in its place. After getting all the badges and items on the mirror side, go back to the southern rooms and enter the new hole created. Here, you’ll find a crack in the wall that can be opened with Bombette, revealing a new room. Inside is the Red Key, which will be used to open the Red Door at the entrance to the palace.

Go back to the entrance and step on the blue switch to lower the red door. Use your fancy new key to open the door that leads inside the palace. In this new room, you will have to use the reflections in the mirror to find the holes in the walls. Be sure to explore both sides of the hallway. As you progress you will encounter White Clubbas, and each one defeated on the real side will cause a statue of them to disappear on the mirror side. The statue at the end of the room is the exit. After defeating all the White Clubbas, return to the previous room and enter the other side of the mirror. Now that all the statues are gone, you can go out that door. In the next room, there is a rotating mirror. Use Bombette to trigger the red switch while Mario remains on the circular floor. This way, you will be able to change sides in the area.

After switching sides, you will see that Kooper replaces Bombette in the mirror. This is your queue to swap the party member for Kooper and throw him through the hole in the wall. Then several Dupli ghosts will appear, claiming to be the real Kooper. It shouldn’t be difficult to identify the real one, since ghosts do a poor job of imitating it. After dealing with them, go through the wall and into the next room. Continue forward and enter the door in the east wall. There, you’ll use Kooper’s shell throw to activate a switch that appears on the side of the mirror. Then a bridge will be formed, allowing you to cross it to the other side. In the mirror, you will see a door, so enter it to cross to the side of the mirror. Return to the previous room, which has doors on the north and south walls.

When you enter the door, you will immediately find a Star Piece. Use your Tornado Jump to flip the hidden floor panel and collect it. Proceed and push a statue to reveal the P-Up D-Down badge beneath it. After getting the badge, return to the royal side of the palace and this time use the south door instead of the north door.

As you enter through the south door, you will notice a yellow block that can be reached with the Tornado Jump. Below it is a hidden panel with a star-shaped piece. Be sure to collect it before proceeding. Continue heading east. You may not have noticed, but by pushing the small statue in the south room, you also moved a large statue on the royal side of the palace. Jump through the hole the statue was covering and grab the Palace Key at the end of the hallway. Go back to the mirrors and head east. In the same room where the doors are in the mirrors, you will use the Palace Key. The room that opens is strange, with three statues, three live animals and six squares of colorful carpet. The objective is to position the statues and animals to cover all the squares. To properly align the statues, you need to position yourself on either side of the actual animal you want the statue to face. As you do this, note that when you push a statue up, the actual animal will move down, which can be helpful. Upon completing the puzzle, a flight of stairs will lead to the next room. Take the opportunity to save your progress and restore your health as you have reached the boss. At this point, it might be a good idea to equip the Quick Change Badge.

Boss Battle: The Crystal King HP: 70 | Attack: 6 | Defense: 2

This battle can be challenging as the Crystal King can heal itself for 20 HP and occasionally freeze you for up to two turns. The best strategy is to try to paralyze him using Watt’s shock move. If that doesn’t work, use Bow’s Outta Sight trick to avoid the attacks. Also, pay attention when it splits into three copies, as only one of them is real. Utilize Bombette’s Mega Bomb attack if you have it, or summon Starstorm to ensure you attack the correct target. Don’t waste time in this battle, as it can be time-consuming.

After defeating the Crystal King, you will release the last Star Spirit! Now, it’s time to go to Bowser’s castle.

Chapter 8 – A Star-powered Showdown

After traversing the spiral star path to Star Haven, you will arrive at a shining city called Star Paradise. In this town, you can buy items, rest on one of the available beds, and interact with locals. Your main objective is to find the Seven Star Spirits, which are located east of the city.

The Seven Star Spirits combine their powers and grant you the Star Beam, a special ability you can use to drain the power of the Star Rod, which Bowser is using against you. Plus, they provide you with a rocket that will take you to Bowser’s castle. Be sure to talk to the Star Spirits to receive these essential upgrades before proceeding.

Once you’ve made all the necessary preparations, head to the entrance to Bowser’s Castle. Upon arrival, you will come across an imposing lava river. Stay on the edge of the river and follow the lava path until you find a side door, as the main entrance is locked. In this new area, you will find a koopa guarding some Toads in a prison. Defeat the guard in battle and receive the Castle Key as a reward.

Go back to the locked door and use the Castle Key to open it. Continue advancing through the castle, facing guards and crossing lava flows. Eventually, you’ll come to a large stone Bowser face. Stand in front of it and Bowser will lock you in a prison. Don’t worry, doing this is inevitable. Take this opportunity to replenish your health. To get out of the prison, use Bombette to create a hole in the east wall and escape.

As you proceed, you’ll see a save point and some platforms floating over the lava. Be careful when crossing them and continue forward. In a following room, you’ll find a blue switch in the middle of a pool of lava. Use Lakilester to float up to the switch and hit it with your hammer. After activating it, quickly return to the previous path, as the platform will be floating again. Repeat this process for the next platform.

The next step requires you to use Parakarry to fly over a set of gaps, as Lakilester can’t reach them. Next, you’ll need Lakilester again to float to a platform near a lava waterfall. Use Bow’s abilities to become transparent and prevent the lava from hurting him.

Continue moving forward, now with the help of Parakarry, and wait for Lakilester to cross a new room to the north. Go up the stairs to the right, defeat the guards and press the blue button to stop the lava flow. Now you will be able to walk instead of floating or flying.

Return to the previous room and enter the door in the north wall where the lava previously flowed. Inside this room, you will find the Second Castle Key, which will be useful for unlocking the door where you disabled the lava flow. Insert the key into the door and enter. In this new area, you will need Watt’s help to light the way and you will reach a gap where Parakarry will be useful to help you cross. You might be wondering how you’ll be able to see without Watt, but put Watt on the edge of the gap, switch to Parakarry, and fly in the dark as usual. This way, you will be able to overcome this obstacle.

Once again, you will come across another gap. Use the same technique to cross it. There will be one more gap, however, this time you will fall below it. In the next room, there will be a stone block with Bowser’s face in the middle. Push it to the left and reveal a secret passage.

Now, instead of being locked in prison, the giant stone face on the wall will allow you to pass through. Save your progress at the nearby save point, and if you need to heal up, head east, go down a large flight of stairs, defeat the prison guard to get the Prison Key, and rest on one of the beds in the prison. Then return to the save point and head north.

At the top of the stairs, go right and go through several doors until you reach another locked door. There will be a blue spring pad. Jump onto it and walk to the left edge of the platform, where a chain will be hanging from the ceiling. Use the chain to fill the room with water. Now hop on Sushie, your aquatic companion, and float back in the direction you came from. Set yourself on the blue switch in the next room, press it, and use the jump pad to climb to the next level.

Note the crack in the wall and realize that you will need Bombette to proceed. In the next room, do a Tornado Jump to knock the blue switch off the brick block and hit it. This will open a series of windows and doors along the wall. Follow these openings until you find a chain hanging from the ceiling and pull it to fill the castle with even more water.

Go back to the door you opened with Bombette and climb Sushie into the water. In front of the pier, you will find the Third Castle Key. Now you need to go back and pull the two chains to drain all the water you filled into the castle rooms. After draining the water, you can walk normally and unlock the door to the east.

In this new room, cannons will be shooting Bullet Bills down a narrow path. Avoid them using Bow’s Outta Sight move, which makes him temporarily invulnerable. As you progress, attack the cannons, but remember that only certain attacks, like Watt’s Shock or Mario’s Earthquake Hammer, can damage them. Repeat this process three times before reaching the next room.

As you proceed, you will enter a room with three stone blocks. Push the third block from the left entrance to reveal a secret door. After walking down a long hallway, you’ll find another one of these rooms, but this time push the first block from the entrance. If you need to save your progress, you can do so in this room as there is a save block next to the locked door.

In the next corridor, replenish your health and continue moving forward. The next area features a door that is already open for you, but be careful as it is a trick. Push the block over the open door to reveal the correct door.

If you’re following the correct path, you’ll be heading west and will find the Fourth Castle Key in the next room in the hallway. Once you get it, head back to the save block where you can open the door using the key. This will lead you to another giant stone face on the wall. Instead of being arrested, he proposes a test. You can only get it wrong twice, so if you have trouble memorizing the answers, write them down on a piece of paper or ask a friend for help. Here are the answers:

  1. Three
  2. Red Shy Guys
  3. Red Shy Guys
  4. Two
  5. Four
  6. Bob-ombs
  7. Purple

Once you go through the stone door, you’ll be outside, and now you’ll need to make your way towards the door just above you. Along this path, you will find another save point and several driving options. If you need to rest, go west, go down to the prison cell and defeat the guard to get the Prison Key. Otherwise, go up the stairs and go west. In this room, you will find a set of colorful platforms. Stand on the edge and release Bombette on the red switch to make the platforms rise. Remember that you must be on top of the platforms to activate them. You will then have a short period of time to jump from platform to platform.

In the next room, you’ll find a useful Ultra Shroom. Then go back to where you went up the stairs above the save point and head east this time. You will go over the fifth locked door and continue until you reach a room almost identical to the last room with colored blocks. This time, position yourself about five steps to the left of the red switch and use Bombette to activate it. If you are in the correct position, a large platform will rise, allowing you to cross to the next room, where you will find the Fifth Castle Key. Now, after obtaining this key, unlock the fifth door. As you go through the door, you will pass a set of lanterns. Pay attention to their arrangement, as they indicate the path you must follow in an endless sequence of rooms. You’ll keep coming to the same series of stairs and lower door, but now you need to enter either top or bottom in the correct order. The directions are as follows: 1 – Take the ladder; 2 – Take the lower door; 3 – Take the lower door; 4 – Take the ladder; 5 – Take the door; 6 – Take the ladder.

Now, you will be on a bridge with spikes on the sides. After crossing it, you will enter another hallway with a heart block to replenish your health. At the end of this hallway, you will find Princess Peach. Or is it her? Let her follow you for a moment and you’ll soon notice that she transforms into a Dupli-Ghost, a kind of copycat. Go back to the door it was at and hit it several times with your hammer. Defeat the Dupli-ghost in a battle and continue advancing.

After defeating the Dupli-ghost, you will find another save point and several driving options.

After the battle against Jr. Troopa, the stone face will allow you to proceed to the front of the castle, indicating that you are getting closer to facing Bowser. Head directly to the center of the castle, where the final battle will take place.

The battle against Bowser is a pivotal moment. Bowser has a total of 50 HP, an attack of 6+, and a defense of 1. While it’s not an extremely difficult battle, it’s important to have a strategy. An efficient tactic is to attack Bowser with Mario and use Bow’s Outta Sight move whenever possible to avoid his attacks. When Bowser charges his Star Rod, summoning the Star Spirits and using the Star Beam is essential to weaken his power. Repeat these attack patterns and Bowser will be defeated quickly.

Before following Bowser, it is recommended to return to the front hall of the castle and rest in one of the doors, going up the small flight of stairs to the right. There, you will find a Toad hiding in a clothes closet, which will allow you to rest. Take the opportunity to save the game. Then return to the center of the castle where you fought Bowser and follow him through the star doors.

The last battle is against Evil King Bowser. He has a total of 99 HP, an attack of 8+, and a defense of 2, making him the most challenging boss in the game. Bowser uses powerful attacks, heals frequently, and has a significant amount of energy. There’s no perfect strategy for beating him, but a consistent approach is to utilize Bow’s Outta Sight move to avoid his attacks. Furthermore, it is essential to persevere and persist in the battle. Over time, Bowser will stop healing himself and his energy will decrease.

After defeating Evil King Bowser, the Star Rod will return to your hands and you will have saved the world. Congratulations on the achievement! Now, sit back and enjoy the end of the game.

At the end of Paper Mario, Bowser’s castle explodes and Mario, Peach and their friends gently float to the last remaining castle in the sky. Mario returns the Star Rod to its rightful owner, who expresses deep gratitude. The stars indicate that they can now make wishes come true again. Everyone praises Mario, and Twink is also applauded for his courage.

As the stars disappear in swirls of brightness, Twink says goodbye and thanks Mario. Peach’s Castle floats gently among the clouds, as the scene changes to Luigi talking to his brother about the adventure. Luigi asks what Mario’s new friends are doing. The scene changes again, and we see Parakarry delivering a letter from Peach to Goombario. The letter includes an invitation to a party at the castle. We then see all of Paper Mario’s other companions receiving their invitations until, finally, Luigi enters the Mario Bros. house. with a letter in hand too.

The brothers set off for Peach’s Castle, using a pipe, of course, and Princess Peach appears to greet her kingdom and tell of Mario’s bravery. She wishes peace and prosperity to everyone in the Mushroom Kingdom, as the camera zooms out. The game ends with a parade of characters, with Luigi as Master of Ceremonies. The music plays and the credits roll as the cast of Paper Mario, along with floats decorated with lights, pass by once again. The final scene shows Mario and Peach watching fireworks from the balcony of Mario’s house.

This is how Paper Mario reaches its exciting and rewarding ending, with the heroes celebrating their victory and peace being restored to the Mushroom Kingdom. Enjoy the journey and happy outcome of this amazing game!
