The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Guide: How to find all the Great Fairies and Little Fairies

Guys, the great fairies grant magical abilities and some magical enhancements. As soon as possible, find them. I must remember that, even after receiving the improvements and spells, if you return to the source of the great fairies again, they will completely heal Link. I will list the abilities and improvements granted by name.

As for the little fairy fountains, they will also heal Link, but I recommend having one or more bottles and storing them inside. If Link dies, the fairy will automatically bring Link back.

Great Fairies

Magic Meter:

Go to the top of Death Mountain as a child and blast the rock to the left of the sign to find the Great Fairy Fountain: You will gain your energy bar (Magic Meter) and the first special move, the Spin Slash (Hold B and release. Spends energy bar).

Din’s Fire:

Go to the outskirts of Hyrule Castle and find the place with a sign in the corner where there is a rock blocking the passage. Explode the rock using a bomb and you will find this Great Fairy: She will give you your first spell, Din’s Fire, which surrounds Link with fire and burns everything around him.

Farore’s Wind:

In Zora’s Fountain, go to the area behind Jabu-Jabu and swim to the edge, where you will find a small island. There is a bomb on a wall there. Blow it up and the passage to the Great Fairy Fountain will open: you will receive the spell Farore’s Wind, it is used to save your walks. When used for the first time, you set a Warp Point in the room you are in. Then you can use it at any time to return to the Warp Point or dismantle it. It can only be used in Dungeons.

Double Magic Meter:

You will need the Megaton Hammer. Now go through Goron City and enter Darunia’s room on the lowest level of the city. Enter the passage behind the throne and you will enter Death Mountain Crater. Go to your right and cross a narrow bridge. There is a passage blocked by two red rocks. Destroy them using the Megaton Hammer and enter the cave to find another Great Fairy: now you will receive an upgrade to your magic bar, the Double Magic Meter, which simply doubles your bar.

Nayru’s Love:

In the Desert Colossus area, in front of the Spirit Temple, look for two palm trees. Between them is a cracked wall. Explode the wall using a bomb and enter the Great Fairy Fountain: this spell you will receive will give Link protection, surrounding him with energy. For a certain time you will be invincible, but the energy expenditure on the magic bar is large.

Double Defense:

You will need the Golden Gauntlet (which you can get from Ganon’s Castle), outside, you will find a part with several rocks to the right of the entrance. At the end of the hall you will find a large monolith. Get close and lift him up using the Golden Gauntlet. Link will throw the rock away, revealing the entrance to the Great Fairy Fountain: with this new ability, you will have double the defense, that is, you will only receive half the damage normally caused. Your hearts on the energy bar will be outlined, indicating that you have doubled defense.

Little Fairies

  1. After passing through the Lost Woods and entering the Sacred Forest Meadow, head to the other side of the maze. Instead of going up the stairs to the Forest Temple, look behind you and you will see a staircase leading to the maze part. Climb the ladder and fall into the area just in front of you. You will find a hole in the floor. Fall through this hole and you will find a Fairy Fountain.
  2. Go to the Graveyard in Kakariko Village. In the first row of tombstones, find the one with some flowers in front of it. Pull this tombstone and you will find a passage. Enter the tomb (Where you get the Hylian Shield) and blow up the wall using a bomb. Revealing a Fairy Fountain.
  3. In Zora’s River there is a platform near the start. On this platform there is a rock covering a hole. You can get there using a chicken as a child (Float to a platform underneath it and then use the ladder to climb up) or using the flying platform as an adult (If you planted a Magic Bean as child Link). Once you’re up there, blow up the rock and go in through the hole.
  4. In the Desert Colossus, near the entrance to the Spirit Temple, there is a large sand pit. Near this pit you will find a stone. Stand on the rock and play the Song of Storms so that the pit turns into a Fairy Fountain and fills with fairies.
  5. When leaving the Market, turn right and follow the castle walls until you find a rock. Blow it up with a bomb to reveal a hidden hole that leads to a Fairy Fountain.
  6. On the lowest level of Gerudo Fortress, where there are two pairs of boxes on the floor, play the Song of Storms near the pair of boxes on the right. As a result, a hole will open in the floor.
  7. In Zora’s Domain, go to the small island with a Zora next to the stairs, very close to the entrance, and play the Song of Storms. A hole will reveal itself in the ground and lead you to yet another fairy fountain.
  8. Inside Ganon’s Castle, go to the lowest level and use the Lens of Truth. You’ll find a fake wall that leads to a fountain full of fairies to fill your bottles. You will also find Deku Scrubs merchants who will sell you items.
