The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Guide: How to get all trading masks

The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time – Guide: How to get all trading masks

March 20, 2024 Off By Daniel Felix

Guys, in the game, there are masks that can only be obtained by trading and some different actions. The tutorial below will help you with this. Remember, however, that for someone to buy a mask from you, it will need to be equipped, that is, define a mask on a button and then use it.

Weird Egg

Get it from Malon outside Hyrule Castle (In the area with the guards, past the Market).

Chiken

Wait a day for the egg to hatch and a chicken will be born (If you don’t have the patience to wait, play the Sun’s Song and move things along).

Zelda’s Letter

Use a chicken to wake up Talon, who is sleeping on the outskirts of the castle (Equip the chicken to one of the C buttons and press it). Enter the castle, go past the guards and find Princess Zelda who will give you Zelda’s Letter.

Keaton Mask

Go to Kakariko Village and show Zelda’s Letter (Equip it and use it) to the guard blocking the entrance to the mountain climb in the northern part of the village. In addition to allowing you to pass, he will tell you that the Happy Mask Shop is now open and that he would really like to have a mask. Return to Market, enter the Happy Mask Shop and borrow the Keaton Mask.

Skull Mask

Return to Kakariko Village, put on the Keaton Mask and sell it to the mountain guard for 15 Rupees. Then go back to the Happy Mask Shop, pay the money for the Keaton Mask and get the Skull Mask.

Spooky Mask:

Head to the Lost Woods, go left one screen and you’ll find the Skull Kid, playing the flute on the largest stump. Put on the Skull Mask and climb up the smaller log (Note: you may have already come by and played Saria’s Song for him, if not, do so). Talk to Skull Kid and he will buy the Skull Mask. Return to the Happy Mask Shop, pay the money for the sold mask and get the Spooky Mask.

Bunny Hood:

During the day, go to Kakariko Village and enter the Graveyard. Talk to the little boy while he has the Spooky Mask on. As the boy is a fan of the gravedigger Dampé and wants to look like him, but is too cute for that, he will buy the Spooky Mask, which is ugly enough, from you for 30 Rupees. Return to the Happy Mask Shop and pay the money for the Spooky Mask. Now the Bunny Hood is available.

Mask of Truth

With the cute bunny ears you now have, walk around Hyrule Field and look for a guy running. It doesn’t appear until you have the Ocarina of Time (If you don’t have it, continue the normal game sequence until you get it). To find it faster, as soon as you leave the Market, run to the right side of Lon Lon Ranch (To the west of the map). You should see it soon, as the corridor usually runs from the entrance to Gerudo’s Valley to Kokiri Forest. Once you find him, just follow him, as you can’t talk to him while he’s running. Wait for the runner to get tired (If you use Sun’s Song for dusk, he will get tired very quickly). When he sits down to rest, put on the Bunny Hood and talk to him. The runner will be so enchanted by the costume that he will pay a huge sum for it, much more than it is worth. Return to the Happy Mask Shop, pay the money for the Bunny Hood and get the Mask of Truth. With this mask, you can talk to the Gossip Stones, those strange stones with an eye that tell you the time. They have very interesting information, but not always useful.

Other Masks

Once you have access to the Mask of Truth, you will also be able to get the Goron Mask, the Gerudo Mask and the Zora Mask, which are costumes representing each race.

These three masks have no use whatsoever , that is, you cannot exchange them for anything or sell them to anyone. Try wearing them and talking to people in different places to see what they have to say.
